yet whenever he plays ezreal he is fed to hell and back

I think its the case of the enemy team not knowing how to handle Ezreal
The main reason why people hated ezreal and thought he was shit is TheOddOne's hilarious quotes about him and his high skillcap.

I think Ez is one of the only carries, aside from Ashe and Vayne, that every fucker on this side of the planet seems to play and thus are the ones I know how to pretty much counter
I mean, at least on EUW, every fucker and his dog plays Ez it seems, so unless you're actually really good with him, you're going to get torn to shreds because so many people have played against him
Yet everyone keeps playing him
Though admittedly the problem has become far, far less severe since I switched to Draft-Pick only. Much more intelligent people there, it seems, at least enough that not every carry picks ez

On the topic of (what was) Irelia, just had a game where I played her against Jayce. It's a big skill match up but Jayce kept going back to buy and being scared even though he did so well against me early game. Their Sivir and Janna played like lvl 15's with terrible reaction times and I went 9/2/7
Is Vlad better suited for top or mid? I played him a bit in the free week and I am going to buy him, but I am not sure where to play him. I played him mid only, but I can imagine with his huge sustain and his passive which gives him the option to go tanky, he wouldn't be a bad top.
