Yeah got seeded to the RO8 because they won the Chinese qualifiers, technical issues screwed them pretty badly given that they probably would have won 2-0 vs CLG.EU but the internet exploded repeatedly.

I don't get what's the big deal is about elo; I've played 14 ranked games (compared to like 400 normals I guess) and I'm at 1427 elo already.
Is it suppose to be hard to get out of the 1200 range?

If you're good enough for it's easy. It's not even about wins and losses, a friend of mine is 1400+ elo and he has 23 wins and 26 losses.

It's not that hard if you had a boost from Season 2 or if you didn't fuck up your placement matches.

No, but if you did really good in your first 10 games - let's say you've won 7 out of 10 - you can afford to lose more games than you won and still have a good ELO
Despite only having 4 games, I made it through my placement matches
Ended up in 1100, probably because the enemy teams were better than us and I wasn't exactly doing my best the whole time.

This video makes a lot of sense, but the idea of "you belong in your elo, your team isn't the problem you just suck" is equally as retarded as the idea of "ITS EVERYONE'S FAULT BUT MINE".
The KD ratio bit: Sure, having a higher KD ratio tends to indicate a better game. But he's acting like this ratio represents a player's sole laning experience and that's all. The KD ratio itself is influenced by the game, which involves more than just 1v1 or even 2v2 in the event of junglers/bot lane. Having a low KD ratio doesn't mean you got stomped in your lane.
You could easily go 3/0/2 in your lane, but once you leave it, one or more of your team can't team fight to balls and/or one of the other lanes has fed a very dangerous champion. Suddenly, every attempted teamfight, you die, and end with 3/7/5 or something.
Its not so cut and dry, like this gent makes it out to be. Having a better KD ratio could be indicative of how well your team is doing (thus causing success on your behalf) rather than individual skill. Same applies on the opposite end of the spectrum.
"You go positive, you win. You go negative, you lose" is a very inaccurate statement. It should be: "You went positive because you won, you went negative because you lost".
Also, the idea that there is only a single incompetent/obnoxious/otherwise detrimental person on your team is just silly. I don't think anyone claims there is ONE AFKer/troll/whatever in their games when describing ELO hell, its basically "everyone is stupid as fuck" or something along those lines. Sure, it could easily effect the enemy team as badly as it effects you, but there's still a great deal of luck involved.
There's an equal chance to get one or more people like yourself, IE good people trying to climb out of their ELO, as there is a chance of getting people who are legally mentally impaired (or should be). Its luck, and a bad string of it can easily result in an inaccurate placement in ELO. The lower you go, the more likely the bad players to appear, the more bad players that appear, the lower you go, and the cycle repeats.
tl;dr: That video promotes a good attitude to have (bettering one's self rather than making excuses), but doesn't disprove the existence of anything.

It's a rating system created by Arpad Elo, higher numbers is better rank, you lose Elo points when you lose a game and gain Elo points when you win a game. The amount you gain/lose varies.
Originally it was a chess rating system but has been adapted for multiplayer games.

Speaking of Graves, has anybody tried a bruiser style top graves? I thought about it earlier, and seeing as he has short range and his passive, it might actually work. I am just theory crafting though, I have yet to check if it is viable.
