Feel like punching the screen after getting 10000 ping resulting in our team losing.
I think he might just be playing against retards.
People really underestimate Cho'Gath. He's got a very simple and straightforward kit, but he does what he does very well. The ranged AOE silence spam is a huge pain for mids, his passive gives him a ton of staying power, and his full combo with his ultimate is enough to gib most squishies from near-full health. I'll refine my build a bit, look at some better second items than Lich Bane, but it's not like that one item choice has been breaking his potential or anything. Maybe stunting it a bit, but not to a point where "only retards" would lose against me. Kind of a rude assumption, ye?

No surprise you wrecked Anivia though, she's insanely slow.
Cho'Gath is alright mid, but he's better in other roles honestly. No surprise you wrecked Anivia though, she's insanely slow.
Oh yeah, he's got more potential top, if only because he's harder to gank up there, but he's definitely viable for mid. What he's best in mid isn't necessarily getting kills, but just denying the enemy mid the chance to farm and get fed. Plus, he's kind of an unexpected pick. Most people assume he's going top, so mid doesn't pick to counter him.
Why? I mean, it seemed like a decent choice-- Cho'Gath does a lot of autoattacking. If somebody survives my full combo, all it usually takes is the proc off Lich Bane to secure the kill. I'm open to suggestions if you've got a better item in mind, though!
To get the price you pay for lichbane to return in the damage you get from it you need: A. Skill(s) with low cooldowns so you can use lich bane every time it gets up B. A shitload of AP. Sheen gives the same effect as Lichbane only its based on your "base AD". Cho-gath has ~130 Base AD at level 18(highest in the game). 2x dorans + lich bane + chalice gives you about 200-220 AP. So spending 2210 to upgrade a sheen in to a lichbane gives you an amazing 80-100 (x2/x3) extra Damage in your Combo (if you space everything correctly and you manage to get in auto attacks) The key to being a good lategame cho is hitting your AOE on everything, not getting in and punching people.

I'll find a better item. Have any recommendations for another item which would work well? A lot of people recommend Rod of Ages, but that item's a bit of a trade-off for Cho'Gath. While it eventually offers a ton of extra durability, it needs to be bought as a first item to reach its potential soonest, and that leaves Cho with some serious mana starvation issues--unless his jungler is being good about giving him frequent blue buffs. If I am, then I can start ROA, build into Athene's from there, then buy my Frozen heart and build another damage item. As far as a third damage item goes, what would you recommend? Void Staff would probably give me the biggest overall increase on my damage, with that magic pen, right? Course, Abyssal Scepter would afford me some more Magic Resist-- prolly a good pick against teams with two or more AP damage dealers. Rylai's would give even more tank, and apply a slow to Feral Scream, and more slow to Rupture. Could be good, too. HmmmMMMMMmmmMMm.
athene's grail is a nice item, you get ap + cdr + magic resist + great mana regen
wot RoA is great on Cho'Gath. You should be able to get it at around 13-17 minutes if you can farm well.
Athene's fine. Just aim for some damage, since usually if you are in mid there won't be another ap carry to deal the magic damage in teamfights. You could buy a Rabaddon for the damage, or an abyssal scepter works well on cho, since you usually are in the middle of things to use your ultimate and silence. Once you are done getting some damage, you may want to grab some armor, if their ad carry is starting to hurt a lot, getting something like zhonya or guardian angel. After that, a void staff is always good. Personally, I'm a big fan of RoA. Some sustain from the catalyst, hp, ap, and mana. It's just great, even if not rushed. I see a lot of people neglecting to buy any hp on ap mids, just because they have dorans, but I think that once you sell them, you are in a really bad spot, having mr from athene or something else, and armor from zhonya, but still dying in 2 hits because that armor/mr affects only 1500 hp or so, which is almost nothing. I always grab a RoA or Rylai. Of course, Hp wont be a problem with cho, I just wanted to get that out :P
wot RoA is great on Cho'Gath. You should be able to get it at around 13-17 minutes if you can farm well.
go 3 roa, archangles, rabadans build
wot RoA is great on Cho'Gath. You should be able to get it at around 13-17 minutes if you can farm well.
I said it was a good item. Rushing it does leave Cho'Gath with mana starvation issues, though, so it's still a trade-off. More aggressive play requires something to address your mana concerns, otherwise you'll be forced into a very defensive playstyle until after you've bought your complete RoA.
Cho gath top is insane once he gets a little tanky.
Oh man, 2+ months without playing, I wonder if I'm still a super pro. I don't even know how many champions they've released in this time
Cho gath top is insane once he gets a little tanky.
He's just a blast all around, and I've had a lot of fun trying out different builds on him. Give full-tank Cho'Gath a try sometime. It's a laugh!
If you want to carry then don't play Support
sona and leona are the only 2 supports that arent instabanned that can carry games if you play them right. obvious for leona but sona goes far past her harass; the ability to reduce an enemies dmg output is just so significant
Oh man, 2+ months without playing, I wonder if I'm still a super pro. I don't even know how many champions they've released in this time
3 or 4 champs have been released in the last 2 months iirc.

Get 1/2 Gp5's, Then follow up with a chalice and build it in to unholy grail (generally skip dorans if you rush unholy grail). For boots you want to take Magic pen unless you need the mercs. Then go deathcap -> abysal scepter / hourglass / Frozen heart -> abysal scepter / hourglass / Frozen heart / Guardian Angel / DFG / Void staff
3 or 4 champs have been released in the last 2 months iirc.
But even then the meta wriggles around and new strategies form. Not to mention champion FOTMs. Rengar, Blitzcrank, Ezreal, AP Eve etc.
Did anyone become super OP, though? Any of the new champions, perhaps?
Rengar was OP for a while.
I generally build cho mid with these items: MR boots RoA Frozen Abyssal GA Deathcap/void staff. Thats going to give you resists in around 200 and hp around 3500 while still comboing a carry to 0

While Cho'Gath is capable of putting out some impressive damage, rushing Deathcap leaves you pretty dang squishy. Cho'Gath doesn't want to be squishy, because he's kind of huge. He's too big to dodge skillshots, and it's very difficult not to target him in a teamfight. Your first three items should all offer durability as well as damage, and with Cho'Gath's extremely impressive natural sustain, buying to counter the damage type of the champion you're facing gives you huge staying power. Null-Magic Mantle and 2 mana potions -> Mercury Treads and 2 Doran's Rings -> RoA -> Athene's -> Frozen Heart -> Abyssal Scepter/Rylai's -> Deathcap/Other This'd be a pretty general build, I suppose. It gives a boatload of health and resistances, and enough AP to burst down the important squishy targets.
how to vladimir effectively? I always feel like I'm not doing any damage with him at all.

Definitely be nice to have that second chance to preserve your stacks.
Wit's End for maximum trollage.
