hurricane is an insane splitpushing tool and it works very well with on-hit passives (kogmaw, varus, caitlyn, maaaybe graves' quickdraw)
mercury blade is a great alternative for GA since GA scales with max hp now (it restores more hp than in s2 at 2500+)

Boots, Phantom Dancer, 4x Black Cleaver and you can just laugh all match.
I like to build boots on people who have great lane harass, such as Elise. For somebody like, I dunno, Poppy or Singed or Garen or Warwick or maybe TF I'd rather build a doran's item or some combination of other items.

Umm. Garen has no crowd control, so in the laning phase if he can't keep up with whoever he's against, his entire kit is useless.

And Singed is all about going fast, too. If you can't run away from people your entire kit is also useless.
Since they are level 1 items, it's not forcefully shoving their item choices into a corner. With Garen it might not be the best choice, yes, but it really depends on who he is up against.\
edit: plus boots are only 350 so it should be fairly easy to get them.
the main problem with doran's items are they don't offer much sustain. They go great with a core of boots and some pots, but unless you want to back quickly and pick up those items dorans aren't always the best.
Yeah, I suppose it'd be okay to start Doran's Shield or Sword if you're solotop against an afker.

I wouldn't bother. Unless you're in a bush, she doesn't benefit from it at all. If you really want to though, you'd probably replace your phantom dancer with it.

Yeah, hurricane is one of those items that's pretty niche, not sure if it really fits on any AD carry considering that replacing PD with it would make you lose all that extra crit chance (and the pretty good passive too). I guess black clever + hurricane would be pretty good tho
