Yeah he is extremely underrated as a top, people are just so ingrained in what is most common that they refuse to believe that something unusual is good and works. Maokai can successfully shutdown a good majority of ad bruisers top and get a ton of farm so that you can go tanky ap and shit out damage while taking damage that is shit on you and just watching it bounce off.

So I decided to kill time and get first win with my friend in a bot game, just something to do in the background of conversation.
Went bottom to kill some peeps, and Sivir + Nidalee (bot-lane friends?) start raging at me, in a bot game. This isn't normal rage, this is advanced range.
"Fuck off and die, faggot. Fun sucker, why do you have to ruin everything? GO AWAY HOLY SHIT!!!" you get the idea, all while being pinged to death. So naturally I hang around, help kill the 4 bots that show up to push, rage goes on.
Then they say they're going to report me, all while swearing incessantly, and I'm being the most civilized bastard.
Post-game aggression from them, blah blah "Enjoy your ban, fucker." They have around 850+ wins in bots each. What.

The final push I could single-rotation people either dead or down to 10% health. I handed my team ~10 kills in the last three minutes.
So, someone correct me if I'm wrong but it's really finicky to gank with Warwick pre-6, right?
I'll sneak up behind someone with red/double-buff if they're too far pushed, if I can hunt them down with E easily enough, etc, show up bot. And make no mistake, when I hit 6 the ganks are fearsome, constant, and deadly.
I just had someone yelling at me all early game because they kept diving under the enemy tower to get killed, and the enemy would live with 8 health or so, twice. They shut up after I helped carry with my friend playing Nami, but yeah.

Warwick's ganks suck before lvl6 because he has no way to gap close.
Don't say Blood Scent because if you activate that before you're spotted then you're just announcing your presence.
Warwick ganks are nonexistant pre-6 because he relies on people being bad enough to overextend dramatically for him to even have a chance. If he ganks a top lane and the other person in Garen he's helping, there's almost no chance of a kill happening.
The difference between him and, say, Shyvana is that Shyvana clears fast, can invade, and has more sustained gank damage.
(I bring up Shyvana because I've heard her as a counterargument before)

I've just had a really fucking shitty match from hell and i feel the urge to vent a little.
Now, granted i'm tired, so i know i'm not playing 100%. But i just got dumped into a match with a cho and a lux, who constantly fucking bickered at eachother the entire match. Like not one of them thought "oh, maybe i'm at 1100ELO because i'm shit and make mistakes like everyone else". no. constantly. fucking. bickered.
And it pisses me off because im trying to give such a fucking positive mental attitude both ingame chat and towards my own play. i actually find it really hard to blame mistakes on everyone else because i can see my own.
I know theirs no such thing as an "ELO" hell. But once you dip under 1300 ELO it IS a hell in it's own way, you are matched with some many egotistical toxic as [I]fuck[/I] players, who have no intention of improving or even having the shred of decency or sportsmanship.
I just really want to get to 1500ELO, to feel like "oh, i'm marginally better at this game than [I]most[/I] people." I enjoy the game, i never feel as pressured as i did getting to platinum in SC2 in terms of personal responsability, but i just wish, more than anything the community could just improve in the tiniest amount.

I do HIGHLY recommend that you guys try out Maokai solotop. If you are against an AD then use mana regen blues cus Mao so mana hungry, but otherwise, once you get grail and some mana items Mao can just spam the shit out of his abilities and he does a fuckload of damage with little amounts of AP

And then it gets to level 6 they buy a hex drinker and merc treads and you are forever countered.
