Double dorans on ad is not a pitfall, it's a great idea esp if you are behind early.
stacking dorans blades is good to boost early to mid game for most bruisers
stacking dorans rings is good for some mages like diana or gragas who need to take some punishment to deal damage
god damn it last patch took away all team avatars

Probable scenario was that volibear started flaming in champ select how first pick never goes solotop because he wanted to go there himself and needed something to make the darius player back off.
