map control is seriously underrated
a support who wards frequently and uses oracles to get rid of the enemies map control is significantly more useful than any other support
Speaking of vision and map control, I've got to give support 'Dinger a try. Turrets in the bushes are basically free wards that shoot back, his passive gives some light sustain, and his blind can help his carry win duels. Sounds like he wouldn't be half-bad (though I imagine he'd fall off in usefulness after the laning phase).
Looking at Elise's kit, I'm wondering if she might not be a decent offensive support champion after all. She's got a stun, a slow, and a health-based harass, and rappel could be used to escape or initiate. Depending on the cooldowns, length of effect, mana costs and stuff, she could be decent.

Or maybe I just want it to be true.
Is it me or Riot completely messed up Twisted Fate game model?
The dude is seriously the tallest champion in the game right now.
They said something about how the other champions are just really small. I think they were also going to be making height adjustments to several champs.
Just got alistar and tritana free, trying out alistar. :D
Just had the best game as Morgana. 4v5, 4-4-33 with 4 turret destroys. I saved my teammates so many times with my little black shield it was crazy.

Supporting is fun, isn't it?
If you plan on maining support champions, though, get ready for a long ride of being seriously underappreciated. Everybody always pays proper dues to the carry who's killing them, but don't give a second look to the support that gave him the tools he needed to do it!

It's great - i gotta try more champs for it
And yeah, kinda sucks not getting credit for that awesome trip kill even though it was your ult that trapped the four :V
Man this is just like the Halloween updates for TF2, always getting me pumped and ready to play.

It's because most of the older models are very cartoony and low poly, like his old one.
As killa said, they'll probably update them all. Eventually.

It is very satisfying, yea! Nothing better than knowing you just helped your carry bag a triple-kill with a well-timed ult, or saved his butt with a clinch heal or knockback Just get ready to have all your favorite champions repeatedly nerfed into unviability. Hardly a patch goes by without a support champion having a tendon snipped. I miss Janna as a viable pick, she was a blast :[
As far as good choices for support champions, I'd recommend Nunu, Alistair, Malphite, and Taric. All are pretty cheap, and all are quite viable.
Nunu gives a monster buff to his carry's attack and movement speed, and has great crowd control on his iceblast ability. Fantastic matchup with many carries- especially ones like Ashe, Caitlyn, Vayne, and anybody else that relies heavily on a high attack speed. Plus, Nunu moves like a sportscar, and he's only 450 IP.
Alistair isn't my personal favorite as far as support champions go--I tend to favor speedier champions who can zip about the battlefield-- but his crowd control is legendary. Knock-ups, slows, knockbacks; Alistair brings a huge amount of disruption to the table, and can lock somebody down for long enough to give his carry an easy kill.
Malphite is typically a top-lane pick, but with a couple of gold items he can definitely be a strong addition to the bottom lane. He can steal speed with his Q, debuff the enemy carry with a very nasty E, his cannonball ultimate disrupts the entire team and deals significant damage, and he's naturally quite tanky and able to resist harass. Once you hit level 6 with Malphite in lane, your ultimate, speed steal, and debuff combo can totally shut down the enemy carry, giving yours an easy kill. Plus, he's not very expensive (1350, I think?)! Malphite is best paired with a carry who can take advantage of his instant shut-downs with impressive burst damage, like Graves or Sivir.
Taric is another cheap champion (1350, I believe) who brings some great tools to the table. He offers a nasty ranged stun, armor and damage buffs for your team, and even some light sustain via a healing ability. Taric is vicious with high-burst champions like Graves.

I buy a ward every time I go back no matter where/who I'm playing. A few times at top I had them buy a pink ward to counter me and it rustled my jimmies bad. Also when you place a pink ward and don't see shit then they place a pink ward and fuck your pink ward up. Support life sucks.
yay ez nerf
Your main problem in this matchup is that Katarina is a pretty decent counter to Morgana. See?
http://lolcounter.com/search.php?search=morgana
Morgana is a very strong champion, but she, like any other champion, can be completely shut down by the "right" matchups.
Also, does anybody have recommendations for a better website for looking at counters? Lolcounter always gives me massive, full-screen pop-ups. Very annoying, and I'm trying to learn how to counter and stuff now! I've been playing draft pick almost exclusively, and will soon jump to ranked. Before I do, I just want to learn a bit more about countering, and learn how to play a few more champions correctly--that way I don't blow chunks and eff over my team in ranked play!
I basically plan to just support in ranked whenever possible, but there will be times when I'll have to go another role, so I'm learning how to top now, and am occasionally picking up a spot in mid. When I can do all three proficiently, I'll know my juju is strong.
[editline]17th October 2012[/editline]
By the way, I've fully embraced wards. They are overpowered, please nerf. Every time I go back, when playing as a support, I'll buy at least two, sometimes three. I can pop on in the river bush to prevent ganks, and another in one of the bottom bushes for those pesky bush-camping support champs--like Leona or Alistair. Makes it a lot harder for them to get the jump on you when you can take away their hidey hole! When the river ward expires, I pop up my third, and when that one's down I've usually got enough dosh to go back and buy an item and a couple more wards anyway.
That site doesn't list quicksilver sash as a counter to darius... wat
The Ez nerf doesn't really bother me since I only ever started using essence flux when I realized how useful it was for dueling. I used to not even touch it until I couldn't level anything else. Can still play him perfectly fine without the AS debuff.
I'm happy I've only lost 2 games as jax out of 14. Only play top in solo que gg

Lord Van Damm's Pillager
+40 Attack Damage +350 Health UNIQUE Passive: +10% Cooldown Reduction UNIQUE Passive: +25 Armor Penetration UNIQUE Passive: +15% Spell Vamp
AD caster item for sure
So much % of hp based damage stuff lately
These new items, with the "active stealth detection." I'm assuming these are the new jungler items, and can be used to destroy wards? Meaning that, basically, every time the jungler comes to your lane, even if he has an unsuccessful gank, he can still profit, and set you back, by destroying your wards?
That's kinda bullshit, to be honest. It does the intended effect of making the jungler much stronger, but has the side effect of making supports MUCH weaker. It seems like everything Riot does is to make support champions less and less fun to play. If our wards can be destroyed at will every time the enemy jungler walks by, then supports are going to have to dump literally all of their gold income on even more wards than they already do, just making them even weaker in lane and the midgame because they won't be able to get their necessary support items. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if Riot didn't constantly nerf support champions. Even if you ward intelligently and prevent yourself from being ganked, you still lose money because your ward is destroyed anyway, forcing you to place another earlier than you would have other had to do.
Hell, I basically main support champions, but it's starting to feel more and more like a chore, just because they simply aren't as fun or viable as they should be anymore. Just earlier today, I was starting to think, "finally, some intelligent nerfs with Ezreal," and then they dump this load on the table.
When do you guys think PBE will be up?

Hextech sweeper is only available in dominion i think
Hextech sweeper is only available in dominion i think
Not the sweeper, the other item. The torchlight thing? That's not a dominion only item, is it?
Soulsight Lantern
+23 Attack Damage +30 Armor +12% Life Steal UNIQUE Passive: Your basic attacks against minions and monsters have a 20% chance to deal 425 bonus magic damage. UNIQUE Active: A stealth-detecting mist grants vision in the target area for 10 seconds (1 minute cooldown).
Oh, I guess it is just the Dominion equivalent of Wriggles. False alarm. Still quite peeved about the Sona and Blitz nerfs, but as long no role-breaking new items are being introduced, I'll still bother playing supports for long enough to see the next round of massive and unjustified nerfs roll through.
