I know people who don't buy dorans on TF, if they are having an easy lane.
Also, spellvamp is arguably -okay- on TF due to you doing spell damage every 4 attacks, your gold and blue cards packing a good punch, and your red card and wild cards having the potential to hit many people.
Spellvamp basically turns TF's blue card into a dispenser.

Uhh.. don't get me wrong, I can do that sometimes as well. But it's really hard to pull off getting 3k in lane without ever going back, and if you intentionally try to reach 3k every single time and not go back to the shop, you're gonna have a rough time.
Don't get me wrong, it's very much possible. But to do it every single time? Nah. :v
And Dorans are great on TF. I usually go double Dorans then Deathcap ingredients then Sheen.
also why would you get deathcap anyway
sheen gives more burst by the time you have 1260 gold anyway compared to a NLR

the two dorans is usually a safe pick for all mana mids assuming you aren't 7/0 by the time you first back
TF is actually really viable at solo top.
oh my gosh, i was playing with my friend and he was olaf top and i was sona bot with a teemo that didn't know how to last hit(he wasnt feeding or dying, just wasnt getting any gold at all). i decide to go all out and take his last hits and he actually turns out to be pretty smart and we basically instantly get their tower. my friend was having the shittiest time top against a lee sin, constantly dying and raging and all that. just randomly i get the giggles and start laughing constantly, all while purposefully stealing kills because i thought it was hilarious. we end up winning pretty easily and i think i made my friend's day better with my chronic laughing syndrome

This reminds me of my first 10-15 games
I didn't realize that items were built out of other items, so I wouldn't buy anything until I had the 4k needed for a trinity force.
Which I always built, because it was the most expensive thing and therefore the best.
