I'm pretty sure AO games are treated the same way that NC-17 movies are treated. They don't get to advertise in the paper, television or the radio.
Besides, making the game AO restricts the audience more, and that's bad for sales.

I don't "need" video game nudity, but if the developers want to put it in then I think they should be free to. Seriously, it's just skin. At least I'm not dismembering zombies in masses of blood.

Issues about censorship never bode well in Facepunch, for obvious reasons.
I think pornography should be allowed in video games more, heck I would love to see one decent dating sim that isn't Japanese anime related, but video games usually are thought of as being for children, not for adults. Video games just don't have the same stereotype as movies and books therefore, they are put under much stricter rulings.
Plus, there's just no need for random nudity in video games. There's no audience for video game porn, and there is no real benefits to having in game nudity, so why anger people by putting it in there?

I just thought about it, there's two reasons:
Realistic nudity is hard to make properly, (just look at the nude models in the modeling section), and so is realistic clothing that you could strip. Also, realistically in most game you're not going to see much nudity if it happened in real life - maybe the odd zombie with a ripped top, but your assistant won't spend her whole time naked.
We don't see much nudity in video games because of the developer not the government.

touché, but seriously its not the same thing, nudity arouses pretty much all men, while violence doesn't do it as much. This means that violence will not get most guys to go out and start killing. While nudity is basically harmless.
