I think there isn't enough shading differences in the new texture compared to the original. Look at the jacket, you don't see any shading there at all. Look at her face, the original had more varying shades from bright to dark, while the other one feels quite pale in comparison.

I had forgotten to go through the album and remove a lot of the old pics of skins in the mod.
I dont know how to think of some of the new models, some of them look [I]really[/I] good, but on the other hand, some of them need a little bit of tweaking (barney) while others need a whole lot more tweaking (early Gman was an example of this, but your new gman looks nearly perfect)

We don't have any "models" as of yet, really. We just have "skins" of the faces. Also, if you guys tell me what needs to be tweaked about Barney, I will try my best to fix him.

Barney's eyelashes seem a bit too long and defined. It looks sort of like he's wearing mascara.
Barney could also use more details to show the chin, as the original had parts of it done in the texture and the way the new one is right now kinda makes it look too large.

Nope, her eye's are green like the vanilla HL2 skin. But in vanilla HL2, it can't render some things, like the eye shaders, as well as later engine versions.
I think the cheeks are a bit too too red, and the area around her headband is shiny.
Not trying to nitpick though, but like I said before, that's just me.

I'll try and fix the cheeks, as for the headband, that's a problem with the rim lighting, I just forgot to take the rim lighting out of the VMT before taking the pictures.

-I still don't think baked ambient shading is very good, if we get stuff like SSAO working, then you don't need the baked shading. Imho baked shading makes things look like someone stuffed dirt into crevices, or painted areas black for no reason, and if you look at many animations, they expose those ugly areas with the baked shading a lot, making you notice the ugly areas.
-I still don't think making things "sharper" will change the feel of HL2.
-As for color grading/correction, I'd rather not have those, like in the vanilla HL2, they didn't have grading/correction, or if they did it was very slight giving HL2 a more unique feel, and not having it look like every other game on the market.

Nah it's just the eyes. Both the new Barney and Alyx have very strange looking eyes - the originals had much darker, more solid eyes. It's actually way more realistic now but we're all so used to the original art style that it doesn't sit right.
The new eyes need to have the shine / reflections removed and colour adjusted to perfectly match the originals, then darken them somewhat. That will make all of the difference!
You really need to add baked AO to your textures.

Never liked C17 that much, it was more of a "LOOK HOW GOOD WE MADE SOURCE LOOK" mod. They managed to recapture the feel of episode 1 city battles quite well, but at the same time it means that the mod won't have an unique style to it like a lot of mods have (black mesa for example). Besides several years in development and no mention of the story ? :v:

Yeah, the biggest part to me was the fact that they were releasing the source to everything. Even if it's dead, they should still release whats done of it.
