It is, but it's just a non-specific eastern european country. It wasn't made to be a specific location and isn't supposed to be set in any specific location.

The only resemblance I see, is the grill area, the rest looks completely unlike the Russian/Ukrainian cars. The cab does resemble the cab of the truck in HL2, however the rest doesn't, and, let's face it, quite a few flat nose trucks have that same shape.

Play the game again (or start up Garry's Mod) and look at the cars more closely - I can guarantee you that every single one of them has a Russian/Ukrainian car counterpart. Don't get me wrong - they might not be [b]exact carbon copies[/b], perhaps due to copyright or some shit, but they resemble Russian/Ukrainian cars as much as they possibly can. I might go into Garry's Mod and make a picture comparison, because the fact that you don't see the blatant and obvious similarities bothers me a lot.

Compare the whole general shape of the green car to the first one, still not close, the white first car is waaay too short. The white and black ones however do look slightly similar, but still not very close.

That's probably because they can't just copy a car from real life, they have to model it and that isn't always going to be perfect

Regarding the green car, you are 'somewhat' right. They are in fact not the same car, in fact the green car is not even real.
The green car is actually a mix of two models (both pretty much the exact same)
As far as the front of the car is concerned, it is a ZAZ 968A

This car has the exact same rear as seen below

Why not replac ethe default cars with 2000-2005ish Russian cars? HL2 takes place around 2020 or 2030, and in game it's been 20 years since Earth fell to the Combine, so that would place the 7 Yr. War around 2000 or 2005.

It would look more realistic that way.
