Ok, how's this for the eyes?
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/dH1xr.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/yydaY.jpg[/img_thumb]
Maybe its the camera angle, but his right eye looks smaller than his left. Also his face seems too smooth I thing you should add pores/minor red spots(whatever you call them) or rough up the skin a bit.
A quick sketch I made for the Houndeyes.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/sZU6i.png[/img_thumb]
What do you guys think?
Hmm, whenever I do another sketch of this, maybe I'll move his back leg up a bit higher...or something. Or make his 'butt' bigger, and blend a bit better with the leg.
Maybe its the camera angle, but his right eye looks smaller than his left. Also his face seems too smooth I thing you should add pores/minor red spots(whatever you call them) or rough up the skin a bit.
eyes are never perfectly symmetrical.
It's a separate mod.
As a-cookie mentioned, one reason is because it's on a different engine.
AWESOME
And sir, I think most of us agree that HL2 needs a good refresh, houndeyes and bullsquids are ok, but new weapons? I can't seem to find a reason to have more weapons in HL2. I mean, it's ok if you include them as long as they're optionial AND as long as you don't remove any of the current weapons.
And I got another question, why are you guys using the Alien Swam version of Source instead of the CSGO version?
And I got another question, why are you guys using the Alien Swam version of Source instead of the CSGO version?
The CS:GO version would need to be licensed to access the much-needed code.
AWESOME

Because, as J*Rod said, it would need to be licensed.
It's also a whole lot easier to port to the Alien Swarm engine than the L4D 1 or 2, or Portal 2 engine, and requires less editing of the content.
Maybe include some kind of gameplay change options like:
Leak-like (Some enemies and weapons are from the leak)
Retail-like (Normal HL2 Gameplay)

Would you be able to create another version that just replaces texture and model files and doesn't add any of the new stuff, only improves what's already there?
I'd feel more comfortable with that.
Gameplay-wise, as an optional hq effect could you guys possibly make certain weapons like shotguns and smgs produce lingering smoke when you shoot certain surfaces? That's something that was really awesome in F.E.A.R.'s gunfights that you barely see anywhere.

Not really, the models and model textures might work with modifications, but the environment textures won't as they're 2x the size of the originals, and need the new maps to work correctly.
Why do people now want to not have the new stuff? It's been on the list since day one, and no one said anything to the contrary of it then.
[B]The mod is made as a sort of refreshment of HL2, I'm adding those things to sort of refresh the gameplay a bit, even though it's superb already, it just seems like if you're going to do the same thing, why not add some new stuff, make it a little more interesting, that way it's not the same old game yet again? Guns are just secret area bonus weapons, and new enemies aren't going to be all over the place, only in a few select areas.
Don't make them an enemy, make them something you can see in the background. Would be pretty cool.
Man, imagine going through the roads, and seeing cremators burning corpses, after doing so, they walk away, without remorse..
Yeah, I had the idea of adding parallax to some of the bullet decals rolling around in my head for a while, I think it's a great idea to do. Though I'm not sure, would it cut down on performance a lot if there were tons of them all over on the screen at one time?
All the parallax shaders I've been able to get my hands on for source don't work with decals, its a different system and the textures just wont work.
should have it high in the air so when you look at them from behind their asshole is in your face

Your title states otherwise.
Your title states otherwise.
uh sorry but cats are too small
[sp]dogs are my thing ;)[/sp]
I think Breen's pupils should still be a bit bigger.
Maybe its the camera angle, but his right eye looks smaller than his left. Also his face seems too smooth I thing you should add pores/minor red spots(whatever you call them) or rough up the skin a bit.
His eye look the same size to me.
Look at his skin, he already has pores and rough-ish skin. I just didn't add any red spots, which I'm still trying to figure out how to do correctly and have them look good.
With my skin pictures, please don't just look at the thumb nails, look at the full size picture, it reveals a lot more of the detail I added.
I think Breen's pupils should still be a bit bigger.
Ok, I'll try editing the dilation in the VMT, that will probably help. Though remember, I'm not trying to make his eyes exactly the same as the old ones, I'm trying to make them as realistic as possible. Compare your actual eyes to vanilla Breen's, his irises are way too big to be realistic, so I made his irises smaller, because it was more realistic that way.

Ok, how's this?
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aic42.jpg[/img_thumb]
On a different topic, you mentioned new areas and adding some new voice acting right?
If you want to do that, I think one area that could benefit from this greatly would be Black Mesa East. Think about it. It's supposed to be this big rebel base, but we see only a tiny chunk of it.
It would be awesome if you could poke around the base and see how the people in there interact with eachother and with the Vortigaunts, sharing little stories among themselves and stuff like that (we see a small degree of this as we're in the elevator with Mossman), similar to what you see in White Forest in Episode 2.
Think little things, like walking into some rebels discussing recent events or listening to a Vortigaunt telling a story about "The Freeman" to a bunch of people.
Things like that are always great and add a lot to the world's depth and to your immersion in it. Just throwing some ideas there.
[editline]also[/editline]
Oh also, Breen's irises look bigger than normal in HL2 because (according to Raising The Bar) he's supposed to be wearing blue contact lenses.

Imagine having no weapon, having to hide from one in a dark warehouse.

That fucking breathing sound...
Isnt there supposed to be a cable running from the stomach of the cremator to the gun of the?
Like he is brewing the viscous liquids he uses in his organs?

-Those are some really great ideas!
-on Breen's irises, everyone's in the game are as big as his.

WIP shot of Breen's new beard. (yes I still have to do his hair, neck and a few other touch-ups after this).
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/PWpvU.jpg[/img_thumb]
I also touched up his eyebrows a bit.
now we're talking. That is looking much better.
His face feels wiiide.
You need to make him feel gaunter, maybe give a sharper look to his cheekbones so it doesn't all see so.. pudgy.
New pics, I went in and detailed his face more, and finished up his beard.

Anyone know of some good high quality pictures I can use for his hair?
Holy shit it looks amazing now, well done!
My criticism of your breen stops now. That is more than satisfactory.
Please. Do generic Soldiers,Metrocops, citizens and regular zombies now. Also make Bump/Parralax maps for world stuff.
-Breen Lookin' Good-
"If I wasn't the man I was, I'd kiss ya."
Thank you all!
But I still have more work to do on him first- his hair, neck, ears, and normal map still need to be done.
I have quite a few suggestions actually, most are either stupid or have been suggested before
1. Implement something similar to "Get Your Free TVs!" as a bonus level of sorts, I'm sure plenty of people could do it
2. Reintroduce the Antlion King, possibly in another part of Sandtraps
3. Make some of the new voice lines contain little references to Half Life 1 or the Half Life 2 Pre-Release. Like "Shit, did I ever tell you about the time my old friend Jimmy got eaten by Sackticks? Crazy shit man"
4. Zombies, as stated earlier, but of different species. Vortizombie, anyone?
5. Concerned reference. Somehow.
6. Something about the origin of the alternate Headcrabs, maybe just a poison headcrab taking a sip of toxic waste at one point?

The Combine weaponized them.

edit:
I think breen is fine and you should focus on other characters.
