I think you'd be beefy too if you had to hold up that body. Also-
- that isn't beefy?
Plus considering the scarcity of food, I think they'd get quite a bit of exercise trying to get their prey.
I think you guys are setting your goals too high. Really you should just focus on getting the visuals all put together and after you've got that released you should think about adding gameplay additions.

My respects corgi, But that isnt how natural physiology works, You dont build muscle without an excess of food. Also your concept is quite abit too mammalian.
Still though, having L4D2's death animations (particularly for shotgun and grenade kills) would make the game massively more enjoyable.

Don't bother telling him, he won't listen.
I don't think its too far ahead of ourselves, when we are trying to add all cut enemies from HL2 with hi-def models.
You could just do it the simpler way(see slide 3), and add sub-groups to models with built in wounds.
Please read before you post- we are not adding:
all cut enemies from HL2 with hi-def models
We are only adding 2 main ones- Bullsquids and Eyehounds, and maybe, maybe Combine Assassins. I have stated that many times before.
On reply to your post about L4D2 wounds and gibbing, this has already been discussed, we are not adding that sort of thing as it wouldn't fit HL2. HL2 was never meant to be an overly gory game like L4D2 was, even Ravenholm wasn't that gory.
Don't bother telling him, he won't listen.
It doesn't matter because with this amount of stuff you're talking about it'll never be finished.
It doesn't matter because with this amount of stuff you're talking about it'll never be finished.
What is this "amount of stuff" you're talking about? Are high quality models of at least the main characters, and 2 new NPCs and 1 new weapon really that big? Plus a fair ammount of things that have already been worked on a lot/finished?

Weren't you talking about Cremators, just a while ago?
Also, who says it has to be gory? You could do it like Left 4 Dead 1, and make it do a simple blood decal, leave a clean wound only once on the head, arms, and legs, like headcrab zombies.
for a mod thatl' never be finished its doing quite well

Animation / Ragdoll blends like L4D would be fantastic, but I doubt they'll do that. It seems like a lot of work, lots of animating and coding.

The Cremator talk was really just that, talk. And even then mostly just speculation and debate about them, with little to do with the actual project at hand.
Eyehouds
Yeeah, heh, I keep calling them Eyehounds by accident, I think because it just seems to flow better than Houndeyes in my head, so I keep thinking that.

You don't gain muscle from a lack of food, you lose it. You wouldn't be getting enough protein.
You guys are complaining about the same thing I was (stupidly) complaining a few pages ago. Stop.
They are just discussing things that would be cool to put in the mod, just because someone suggests a chimpanzee synth that flings irradiated poop at you doesn't mean there's gonna be one in the mod. Where's the fun in making a mod if you can discuss the features you want to implement?
[editline]lol[/editline]
actually scratch that you should totally make a chimpanzee synth that flings irradiated poop at you
I don't understand some people here.
Apparently a random forum user saying "X feature would be cool for the mod" equates to "WE ARE THE DEVS AND WE WILL PUT X FEATURE IN THE MOD HALF-ASSED AND NEVER RELEASE"
If you remember to make the cactus plant model Hd i will love you all forever.

There goes our tech demo surprise.
Also, theres been way too many mods killed off by people thinking that, like someone said, a idea=its going in the mod. We take any ideas no matter how crazy and will consider them.
We take any ideas no matter how crazy and will consider them.
Well, not all ideas, just the ones that would make sense and aren't stupid.
Quick question: What is your stance on expanding scenes, such as scenes in Kleiner's Lab, or Breen's Office? I've always thought it'd be cool to restore the scenes to their original lengths, but didn't think anyone would ever do that. I suppose this is my chance to ask about it.

Personally, I'd love to do something like that, however it would probably be done later on, once we've got majority of mapping, texturing, and modeling done, as it would require a lot of work to animate all the characters and lip-synch them to their new lines. Plus find a way to incorporate the lines in a way that makes sense with the retail story too.
Please please please....since your doing HD models. Will there be HD world models? I think that would be so awesome! :D

At the moment, probably only a few main ones, like the teleporter in Kleiner's lab, and most of all, the trees! The rest will mainly just have high quality textures, unless we end up getting a ton of modelers for that type of stuff.

please
hd weapon worldmodels on par with viewmodels.
please

I can help with that if you want, I was actually working on animating the world models a while back but I didn't know what I was doing, but now that I'm better I'd be glad to help!
The weapons need idle animations.
I hate how HL2's default weapons almost all have no idle animations. You sit there they are just frozen still, as if gordon's a robot.
I completely agree. I don't see why HL2 doesn't have them, but the first HL1 does. I really liked the Snark animations.

This would give me some motivation to start working on these pieces of shit again.

Good, so we don't have to put up with that like, 15 poly revolver model with a 2d stock photo as the texture.
Do it. Higher quality world models like these would actually make Gmod comics/poses a whole lot better if the team is willing for the content to be used like that.
