Are you planning on changing the shotgun or keeping it the Spas? (Model wise)
If not, I'd look at the shotgun from the latest AVP game to model after. It might not be real, but the double-barrel thing would actually make sense.

With tube instead of magazine, of course.
Nah, it looks out of place for HL2.
Valve intended shotgun to be SPAS 12, nothing else, so it stays, because Valve is God, and adding out of place stuff will get you cursed by Valve, as they see it all.

I'm all for giving explanation to the fact a Spas-12 fires two shots at once, or justifying the SMG firing a Grenade from nowhere, but lets try and remember we are just enhancing the game, we don't need to make completely radical changes such as replacing an entire weapon.
That's just my opinion though, I guess its up to corgi
On the subject of the MP7, I prefer HL2 / MI's style. I don't want a recreation of the real MP7, because that's not what the Combine SMG (as I like to call it) is. I've always seen it as a weapon that was cheap and rugged, mass produced to ensure they will always have enough weapons for everybody when Shotguns or OSIPRs aren't available.
I'm hoping we could find a way to justify the Spas-12 having double shot functionality, but it seems unlikely to show without seeing signs of the gun being tampered with to a large degree, which is something that would fit a resistance weapon's description more than a Combine's.

No, just no.
-and we're already working on the spas 12:

I just handwaved those away to myself as the Shotgun firing 2 shots rapid-fire (this is actually what it is in Half-Life's HD pack), and the Grenade Launcher being a type of Rifle Grenade (a grenade that is externally attached to the end of the barrel just before firing).

I can tell you I could imagine the combine having included their knowledge of technology to pull off shells firing in quick succession, but that comes back to why the shotgun isn't just semi-auto and why it only has a single trigger. (Also defeats the idea of the Combine pretty much making use of what was already on earth, I doubt it would be the main interest of the Combine leaders to convert a SPAS-12 to fire two shell simultaneously.)
Also I can't find reason in the SMG Grenade Launcher Idea, seeing as those types of grenades are pretty much rare from my knowledge to find in working order and its a known fact that the grenade fired is a normal grenade launcher grenade.
Little thing, but for the viewmodel, can you guys put the Spas-12 closer to the center of the screen?
I always hated how far to the right it was in normal HL2.
I like to think that the Combine Soldiers use regular Earth weapons because they found a whole lot of them in storage for militaries or something, and they like to use the weapons of the planets they take over.

That's the idea that is suggested, and the one I believe to be true.
But in retrospective, the Franchi SPAS-12 wouldn't be manufactured when Combine took over, there is really no explanation as to why the Combine has them, unless they went around pillaging every gun collector's house looking for some.

What's wrong with doing this:

I don't think that the world-conquering alien empire that's successfully subjugated and lorded over possibly thousands of planets would have trouble mass-producing a few comparatively primitive SMG's. Dudes have got dark matter reactors and cross-dimensional teleporters out the ass, I think that they can design a more ergonomic and efficient combustion weapon than a few Eastern-European militaries.

They did, the AR2.

They might be mega-powerful, but they're not wasteful.
They use peoples' ow resources against them. They don't need to make more if there's already plenty, and if they do make more they won't be making Earth weapons.

Then why are most Combine buildings made from already existing buildings? It takes less energy to make things from things that have already been made so, they take already made things and add their own things to it.
In fact I think the only buildings that they made themselves would be the Citadels, and the Depot. Not to mention the fact that they take other species and turning them into synths, making them better without making a whole new creature.
Honestly it'd be nice as an optional toggle off and toggle on feature.
Edit: Oh shit sorry I didn't refresh this tab

Nothing, I love the MP7. I just see the Combine built SMG as a separate weapon due to it having a different design, notably the placement of the grip and trigger at the rear of the weapon. An actual MP7 (SMG2) was going to be in the game alongside the MP5k (SMG1) but was scrapped, and SMG1 was turned into the Combine SMG we have now.
For your information, this game will NOT have Ironsight.
Except Crossbow, I will change the zoom function into Ironsight, instead of making Gordon broke his neck and move forward.
Here's a picture of Ironsight before I remove it ;)

Hehe you're all wrong.
Valve didnt make ironsights because then they'd have to make more than half of the weapon models, silly!

You might as well remove the red dot sight from the SMG though, it's pointless as fuck.

Reminds me of the Gluon gun's secondary fire XD
On the topic of the crossbow, I figure now's the time to ask....
3D zoomed scope?

You can't overcharge jump with the primary fire.
You can't overcharge jump with the primary fire.
You're thinking of the Gauss Gun secondary fire. It charged up a high-powered shot.
The Gluon Gun's secondary fire made you pull a lever on the weapon, and push it back into place. It did nothing that affected functionality, it was purely cosmetic.

That "lever shifting" animation was originally intended to switch it between different firing modes, but Gabe Newell.

are you to add a grenade launcher to the smg?
(possibly only for gordon's smg. I haven't seen anything else use it)
