if they made a new engine from scratch it would take SO FUCKING LONG to make a new elder scrolls i dont want to wait SO FUCKING LONG i want it now
Yeah lets have a game that's not even up to par with Xbox 360 launch graphics and buggy as hell in comparison to the GOOD game that we could have if they spent some time on it. [editline]02:47PM[/editline]
Yeah a new one, but a good new one? Honestly while I think that Bethesda's guys are skilled, I think that they have some big "competence holes" (as animations and models). [editline]06:20PM[/editline] Yeah hopefully, because Oblivion had huge potential, and always felt like it was much less than what it could have been.
I think that id can help a LOT.
I WANT SLOW MO YeAAHH
I don't care if it reverts back to Morrowind-style stuff, I just want a solid cooperative. Not some multi-hundred man server shit. Just the ability to have a friend fuck around with me, even if we both have to start at ground zero and have no saving; its better than nothing.
I WANT SLOW MO YeAAHH
That could be some ability you learn when you've got high agility.
More like Morrowind less like Oblivion, but with Dark Messiah combat.
Oh yeah and no more level scaling. I'm surprised so many people agree with me, but I'm glad for it. It hurts the sense of progression you get from levelling up if everything around you just levels up with you all the same. I'd like enchantments to not cost any gold. Make the enchantments more costly/difficult to achieve in more believable and less annoying ways. You should be able to select the enchantment and the magnitude, and then be told how much soul gem charge you'd need for it. And be able to use more than one soul gem to make the charge up. That's my ideal view of enchantment anyway. I'm not sure what to say about weapon enchanting because I never use magic weapons.
1.) People who don't look like ass 2.) Better AI. I played the other day and got on top of a 3 foot tall rock to avoid a guard, who kept running into it swinging his sword at me in vain. Meanwhile a wolf slowly, slowly killed him while he ignored it. 3.) If I steal something and no one sees me doing it for fucks sake I should be able to sell it wherever the fuck I want 4.) Get rid of level scaling, or make it optional. I want to become too powerful for the guards to handle.
better animations even deus ex has better animations than oblivion
better animations even deus ex has better animations than oblivion
What the fuck is up with the lack of diagonal running animations anyway. It wouldn't have been that much hassle to put it in. Actually having your character's feet move as you turn would be nice, although not as important as having fucking diagonal running animations. Making the engine a bit more stable so it can handle lots of data without crashing would be nice too. Remake the DistantLOD as well, the current one looks like shit, and makes panoramic screenshots look like a muddy mess. Better voice actors is a must, every time I hear the voice of the female wood elf I want to kill myself.
When you kill a shopowner, I want that shop to remain open but with a new owner. I hated how once you killed an NPC they would never come back
There should be consequences for your actions. Killed the armor shop owner? Good luck selling that steel cuirass for a good amount of gold.

That would be good, but I'd still be against any sort of monetary fee to enchant an item.
They need to make a easier world editor.

Nice FPS. Contribute: Artifacts and items that can be found by following rumors and notes and such, like in Morrowind.
They need to make a easier world editor.
TES construction set is easy as hell to use what are you talking about
Horse combat like Mount and Blade.
Bring back new skills; Like Shortblade, Medium armor, spear Et cetera... Bring back my levitation spells from Morrowind, (And blind spells, mark/recall, etc) No Level scaling. No Compass telling you where to go, read the journal. No Fast travel (Silt striders for the win)

Although, the more I play Oblivion, the more I am reading the journal, and random books and stuff, so I'm sure I'll be fine with that by the time I'm done with Oblivion and ready for a sequel.

Unless you can't find that person/item or whatever.
Elder scrolls is full of metagaming. Get rid of it all. Fuck it. I don't want a magic inventory system, I want a bag where I can throw shit in it and if I want to do something I get the item out of the bag. I also want to wear that bag. Continuing with metagaming shit, I want weapons that do damage based on where the damaging area of the weapon is in the world, not play the animation and damage is taken from whatever happens to be standing in the way. No levels for weapons, instead, because weapons must be used against certain parts of the enemy to be effective, and all in real time, you should just have to get better at the game controls yourself, including positioning yourself, and attacking at the right time. Damage is done realistically from the very start, whack with a large hammer = pretty fucked up, not -100 health. Weapons do what they say on the tin, they don't have stats. We shouldn't know what a potion is just by having it in the inventory. We have to know ourselves, label potions as they are. There should be no guarantee that you didn't fuck up while making potions. We have to do the ingredient mixing by our own, not through an interface that matches up ingredients for us. We should not be everybodys bitch, all these games consist of are doing what other people tell you to do. Our actions should affect people, shops, towns, cities etc. The world shouldn't be a load of shit. Where does all the weapons come from? Who the fuck knows, they just exist. Nobody works in oblivion, they just stand around with their items that came from nowhere. Everything should have a source, and people have to work to get things to shops, crafters etc, for example miners bring iron to blacksmith, and if you want you can kill everybody and take over the mine or ambush the guys transporting it etc etc. Also, shops should not buy everything you have, because that just makes no sense at all. Things should be happening, in previous tes games, the world is just at a stand still, waiting for you to come along to be their bitch. People should be able to move around from place to place, change homes, change job, become a criminal, get wealthy, start new settlements etc all by themselves. Shouldn't just stand around and fiddle with themselves. People can ask you for help, in relation to their jobs, transport or something like that, or you can ask them for help. These would be generic things, but they should make an impact on the game world. You help shop owner out of debt and he stays there for longer and things change. Being a friend with somebody actually changes things in your favour, not just a minigame to get the next part of the quest. Enemies shouldnt just stand around for no reason, they should be there for a purpose. to take an example, bandits, ideally they would exist because some people in a town got together and decided to kill and steal shit. They are still people, they're not just genericenemynpc2425. They can leave the life of crime, or continue onto great riches from it, or you can just destroy them right then and there. none of this is simulated constantly. It would all work how oblivion already works, you approach an area, and it decides what has happened since you've been gone, based on previous history. Sometimes it creates new things.
Fast travel should stay, but be optional to those who want to use it - like myself.
Sounds sensible, I am just making a list of what I want.

About the part in bold: That too, a bit less RPG but a whole lot more fun.
Yes, this x1000, bring it closer to the games of the golden age (80-90s period), not this simplified crap we are used to today. About the part in bold: That too, a bit less RPG but a whole lot more fun.
I don't honestly see what is RPG like at all about levels. RPG is about becoming a character, but there is no customization to levels, and I don't even think I have to explain it, but i'm going to say something regardless.. You do ___ and it gets better, it's out of your control unless you don't do it at all, so you're going to do it. In what I say, there is customization to the weapons you use and the way you use them, you can hold any type weapon if YOU (not your levelled character) know how to keep it in your hand. That is far superior to levels. There's no customization to the really good end weapon that you're going to use because it's got the best stats, that you just left click and it works. Not having a go at you btw, just sort of ranting a little bit about whoever came up with that stuff, and especially games that continue it today. Ones that appear to hold themselves a little bit higher than borked up level systems (cough oblivion)
No Level Scaling. At level 21, I do not want to be faced with Bandits with 1337-pownzor-out-of-this-world armour. They should be weak and stay weak. The guards should be a high level and stay that way, so that you can ACTUALLY become stronger than them, although, in a sense, they are worse because they never get better armour, but I STILL WANT LEVEL SCALING TO GO AWAY. It should only apply to creatures.

An RPG should be about character development (and by that I don't mean levelling) and customization, and most games today lack those two points, they just slap on some levelling system and call it an RPG (what kind of RPG is a game in which you barely get dialogue choices? *cough*Oblivion, most MMORPGs and many more*cough*).

If you go in a dungeon really far from any town you should have no chance unless you've got the level to match.
-Better NPCs, as in, they can get more involved with you in your quest or quests. -More weapons, bring back fucking throwing spears Bethesda. -Better engine. Oblivions engine was so local in everything, shadows only affected creatures, nothing was dynamic, physics were terrible. -More dynamic camera animations. I love awesome camera movements. -NOT A SHITTY PORT. I swear, if they release this one for consoles first, I will flip a shit. EDIT: -Smaller functions. By this, I mean, you can gain XP for certain skills other than combat skills. Cooking, building, crafting, etc. -Treasure hunting. In Oblivion, you had to be quite leveled to find even the slightest object of rarity. -Non-telepathic guards. I would like to assassinate someone without having to avoid every city for a month. -Moddability. I'd like for them to keep their current trend of making their games as moddable as possible.
Better combat, multiplayer, dismemberment. Also sex.
