I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not. But we do have half high blocks, meaning it's possible to add increments to water levels, who knows what people will use this for though, good? evil? grey?

and wont this make flooding harder? now when you block up a hole wont the water just settle down to the bottom?
Or is this still infinite water?

It will most likely give you more time to react to a flood, but we will have to wait and see how fast it spreads. This does also mean that we can have waves and whatnot now. Imagine storms, hiding in your little fort while water crashes about.

Fairly sure the only infinite water sources are in Creative, but not entirely.
If there are infinite sources in infedev I'm not aware, but I can try sticking one in a map in NBTforge to see if they work or not.

Notch could add a mist particle for when water is falling from a major height. Also I hope he's keeping the indev water splash effect that appears at the bottom of water blocks.

Yep. He should have waited for beta to start public testing though, because people are expecting the game to have [i]content[/i] even though he hasn't even finished the core game yet. They seem to get the idea that if he doesn't ADD SOMETHING RIGHT NOW then it won't get added ever.
