This looks good, i'll give it a try when it comes out.
I gotta try this out. I hope they'll turn this into real simulator
Just looked those videos up. Wow, it looks absolutely terrible. No bulletdrop physics or anything as far as i can see and no realistic damage, only silly healthbars. It looks like a arcade drive and shoot deathmatch game. :frown:
[editline]08:09PM[/editline] You are right. :suicide:
appears to be a deflection of a shell though around 3:40.
appears to be a deflection of a shell though around 3:40.
From what I caught in the video, he said something like that you can spend real money for some things, but people who don't are still able to fully compete with those who do.
I saw a health bar with a strange amount of Health points, so that's already a problem (the amount of HP probably increases by level, anyway there shouldn't even be a health bar). They should just have taken the system Men of War uses and made it a bit more detailed (considering that this is tanks-only) and let us customize our tanks, that would have been awesome and I'd pay monthly for it.
This. I want to see some sweet bounceoff/penetrate physics, which would influence the tank in realistic way, with engine breaking, making stored ammo go off etc. I hope it won't be just "Every hit does x damage, y hits kill the tank." [editline]05:48PM[/editline] I hope it's gonna be minitransactions not influencing gameplay performance , like special pictures and cosmetic stuff, or making getting shit easier (XP boost or something), which won't influence the real fight directly.
bounceoff/penetrate physics will be realistic (i.e. Panzer II will have NO chance of penetrating JS (Joseph Stalin)-3's armour, just some chance to damage the tracks and immobilize it. YES, microtransactions will NOT affect direct gameplay, just cosmetic staff and XP boosts.
From what I caught in the video, he said something like that you can spend real money for some things, but people who don't are still able to fully compete with those who do.
Exactly. The background voice in that video was mine. And it's true that those who do not put in any money will have the same type of gameplay.
Exactly. The background voice in that video was mine. And it's true that those who do not put in any money will have the same type of gameplay.
Is there any release date or something? Seems really really good for now.
Well, all we can do is hope that this will be good in the end.
Is there any release date or something? Seems really really good for now.
The Closed Beta test is going on in Russia right now (500 peak concurrent players every evening. About 2600 applications accepted). Western release is schedulded for this Fall. You may join "western" discussion at the official forum: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/
Exactly. The background voice in that video was mine. And it's true that those who do not put in any money will have the same type of gameplay.
Are you a developer? Can westerners not participate in Russian beta? When was this game announced? Also, is russia fun?
Am i right in assuming it's going to be similar to that blitz 1944, where you join battles from a map-like interface or are we going to be in our tanks all the time? also only PVP?
Panzer MMO? More like Panzy MMO!
Am i right in assuming it's going to be similar to that blitz 1944, where you join battles from a map-like interface or are we going to be in our tanks all the time? also only PVP?
PvMing would be fun. Lets kill that King Tiger boss so i can loot the 88mm cannon for my Stuart.
Are you a developer? Can westerners not participate in Russian beta? When was this game announced? Also, is russia fun?
Yes, I am one of 70+ developers working on World of Tanks. Well, Russian "closed beta" is all in Russian language. Technically there are no restrictions for westerners to participate, but it would be a big pain in the back. I'd suggest waiting just between one or two months - so that you could play western version. It's not only the matter of language, but also, tons of features and gamplay layers (such as tech trees, clan wars, mini-campaigns, etc.) are being added at the moment. Russian beta test is great fun, with daily PCCU being 25% of total number of invites. Although, neither NavyField nor Blitz have Clan Wars on a "Total War" style map. Think Total War (or Hearts of Iron or Europe Universalis) being a hundreds-of-clans MMO on a huge world map.
Think Total War (or Hearts of Iron or Europe Universalis) being a hundreds-of-clans MMO on a huge world map.
Sounds promising. Also, nice of you to register here and give us some good information about the game, much appreciated.
Similiar to hearts of iron or Europa Universalis? I will certainly be looking for this.
It will be nothing like those, did you even see any screenshots or videos?
Yes but if they're ballsy enough to compare it to a hardcore niche group of games by paradox, they must have something good.
Panzer MMO???
What is this guy's post mean. I don't understand, either he doesn't know what Panzer means or he doesn't know what MMO means.
What is this guy's post mean. I don't understand, either he doesn't know what Panzer means or he doesn't know what MMO means.
I think he meant that mmo would be about tanks, but Panzer is a word for german tank... Does that mean there would be just german tanks?
I think he meant that mmo would be about tanks, but Panzer is a word for german tank... Does that mean there would be just german tanks?
Panzer doesn't mean German tank, it literally means tank in german. The germans call Shermans and t-34 Panzers too.
Panzer doesn't mean German tank, it literally means tank in german. The germans call Shermans and t-34 Panzers too.
So is that an mmo about tanks in general?
So is that an mmo about tanks in general?
I think so, the game is called World of Tanks and not World of Panzers anyway. The trailer showed some German and russian tanks, so i guess those are the two factions.
Because only German and Russian tanks were worth something during WW2.
Shermans were tin cans and practically useless.
Shermans weren't that bad. And you have to take into accounts the variants like the jumbo and firefly.
