You're so knowledgeable!
Yeah man! F the man!
I love doom ...Dewm :keke:
I just don't like Doom 3 because of the whole flashlight thing and the darkness. I always get lost. I don't hate a sequel because it's a sequel. Lots of sequels are huge improvements over the original game.
never said you did. i just stated how butthurt i was by the fact that people "mostly" complain rather than rejoice when sequels come out.
I love Doom 1, I've beaten it roughly 30 times and speedrunning that game is damn fun. Also as a response to you asking why not many people liked Doom 3 it's because they took a fast-paced action horror game and tried to make it all out scary and it just wasn't meant to be. I personally thought the game was pretty fun though, albeit it was pretty damn easy once you get the chainsaw. Also the double-bladed chainsaw is the best weapon in any game ever.
Add images of what the enemies looked like during Doom I/II next to the III pictures.
DOOM 3 disgraced my childhood memories of DOOM.
This. And the graphics really look like shit, every npc looks like a plastic action figure with poor animations and all with the same brownish colors. Nothing looks distinct and unique like the original Doom games. Also they turned up the contrast level to ridiculous levels so you can't see what the fuck is going on.
Classic Doom is better than Doom 3. Doom 3 doesn't have that same feel and shape. Doom 3 is still a pretty good game though. Oh and. www.cslab.ntua.gr/~phib/doom1.htm Monster gifs are there. They don't get any better than that. Source Ports ZDoom ZDoom adds lots of new features such as DECORATE, slopes, mirrors, windows and ACS scripting, to make Doom maps much more interesting. GZDoom Virtually the same as ZDoom except it uses OpenGL and has dynamic lighting and true 3d floors. Skulltag Also based of ZDoom, it has a multiplayer server browser plus a quite a few new items, monsters, gamemodes. Boom Boom adds a little more functionalitly to Doom, fixing plenty of old Doom bugs and adds a few new functions such as wind and gravity. jDoom Probably the most advanced graphically of source ports, it has support for 3d models, hi-res textures, dynamic lighting and more. Doom Wads of Awesome Alien Vendetta
Alien Vendetta can probably be considered the last great classical megawad. In the tradition of Memento Mori, Requiem and Hell Revealed, Alien Vendetta was crafted by a number of different level authors, showcases some of the finest maps seen at the time, and all while being able to run on doom2.exe. Perhaps AV's single downfall is its high difficulty level. Playing it on Ultra Violence is suicide for most Doomers, and even on the lower settings some of the maps may prove difficult for some. Still, when taken into consideration overall (and be sure to run through a couple maps with nomonsters on one day) AV is simply an amazing effort and indeed deserving of a place here. In fact, I (and many others) would go as far to put AV in the top ten wads of all time. Even if the gameplay isn't your thing, you will simply not find a better collection of 32 maps, and you probably won't ever again.
Deus Vult This wad is wonderful. I really mean it, just look at the detail, and gameplay, they have both been carefully planned. Plutonia 2 This is another good wad filled with 32 levels of juicyness. It contiunes on from the Plutonia Experiment storyline, and is just as hard, if not maybe even worse.

The guns do feel right when you shoot them. I mean the shotgun really has a nice kick and the plasma gun makes a nice reload sound.
Your missing the PSX version. And what about putting images of the old monster graphics next to Doom 3's?
Doom was probably the first computer game I ever played. I think I was 6 or so at the time. I didn't get much around to playing Doom 3. I played a bit when my father told me it was scary as shit, but I wasn't really feeling it. That's probably one of the reasons why I haven't touched the game in ages.
Your missing the PSX version. And what about putting images of the old monster graphics next to Doom 3's?
That is a port
That is a port
It's a console port but it's levels are slightly different, and combine a few new levels with Doom 1 and Doom 2, a few levels were removed.
I love DOOM3, but the lost souls make me rage. :argh:
Ah, I had Doom RPG. It was pretty fun.
I made a mod for doom several months ago http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xdxmmz1mm5w United mod is the greatest doom mod ever and you need zdoom to run it. Or anything that works with .bex.
There was a version of DOOM made for GameBoy Advance (which I owned). All the enemies had green blood and the final levels for the second and third acts were redisigned and featured no cyberdemon or spider-mind.
I finished all of the original Doom from XBLA with 2 of my friends :keke:
I finished all of the original Doom from XBLA with 2 of my friends :keke:
now try the United mod,I worked so hard on it and NOBODY CARES.

One major bug was that monsters idled from a certain distance so you could shoot them from anywhere. Funny actually, I just completed it yesterday on the GBA.
Anybody up for some skulltag?
Please add the Doom Wikia up there.I find it useful when I want to find out more about Doom. http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Entryway Also great thread!

Man, I loved doom 3, although it changed the style of doom which pissed me off a bit the game was still great! God, I goto find my discs!
God I'm so excited for Doom 4. If it comes out it should be pretty much exactly like Doom 1/2 but with sexy graphics.

Too bad all we have so far is a 5 year old model.
Too bad all we have so far is a 5 year old model.
I did'nt even know we had that. Link plz.
I recommend the Classic Doom mod for Doom 3, it basically recreates the first episode of Doom 1 in doom 3 style. Sorta what Black mesa is doing (Sorta)
You haven't experienced doom until you played with a good friend or two in co-op. And once you're done with all these titles, Heretic and Hexen are next!
