Hurk, need a Wii, a new PS3 (4th one, if I remember correctly) and a new GPU (470). Hng, money, how do I make it?
First thing I did mate.
I need a Wii.
Me too and 'dem monies.
I turned on the live E3 stream halfway through the goldeneye trailer in school and I couldn't tell what it was for a second but then I saw bond in the air duct above the guy in the bathroom and I went I know what this is :smug:
I'm buying a Wii, just for this... assuming it turns out good. So far it looks pretty good, but I'll reserve judgment for when I actually get the chance to play it.
How did Activision get the rights to it?
nintendo still owns the rights to goldeneye, activision currently holds the license to publish james bond games.
I just don't why they can't take Rare's thoughts into account. I know that the members of the original Goldeneye team left for another company, but it was still published under Rare's name, so you should let them do whatever the fuck they want with it. They were clearly working on an XBLA port, but canned it because Nintendo, who didn't do jack shit with the game except license it for their console, said "NO WE LET YOU RELEASE IT ON OUR CONSOLE SO WE OWN ALL RIGHTS DO THE GAME HURF DURF." They put Perfect Dark onto XBLA, that was released onto a Nintendo console, and that was fine. But if it's Goldeneye then there HAS to be a huge fucking controversy.
Terrible graphics for a terrible game.

Well, Perfect Dark was pretty much a property that was a bit more flexible to such regards. The prequel had been released on the 360, and apparently Microsoft won out over Nintendo over any possible copyright debates.
Goldeneye, though, is copyright hell. Brosnan, the story that's based off a movie, the rights of the creators to the IP, the fact that it was originally released on the Nintendo 64 - Activision is a third-party group, so with the personal approval of Nintendo themselves, it's no surprise that the company that published MW2 and got rich like whores off it is the group creating the remake.
Apparently Daniel Craig was mentioned on the previous remake topic (back when it was still a rumor) as a part of the 'dealbreaker,' to bypass some of the copyright issues involving Goldeneye and Brosnan.
Of course, I could just be talking about stupid shit I have no idea about. If so, someone please promptly correct me so I DO realize how this stuff works.
Fuck yeah, can't wait to play this with friends!
I outright refuse to accept a goldeneye that doesn't feature this man as lead character

The Wii exclusivity kills it for me
Wiimote.
Gameover.
If this exact same game was for PC or 360 you'd all be jizzing over it.
It looks great.

People see "nintendo" and go HURR DURR MUST SUCK.
I'd be excited if it wasen't for Wii. I hate controlling FPS games on the Wii.

It wouldn't be the exact same game because you wouldn't be using a wiimote.

The graphics would also be better and you wouldn't be using a wiimote as the above poster said
Same game new graphics and the maps are a bit remade.
Wow I'll pay 70$ for this!
It would only be $70 dollars if it was for the PS3.
Because if it's on a Nintendo console it must have to do with Nintendo!
This generation of consoles has just been a bunch of :bandwagon: hate for Nintendo.
Agree
Which game was that had you locked up in a building at the start with no guns, robbers or something in the place.

I'd rather have this on PC, or hell even a console, for many other reasons.
A: The Wii's online service is HORRIBLE. Laggy and buggy as shit, and not to mention no voice communication whatsoever. I'd prefer using the stable net my PC is connected to, over this.
B: The controls. Have you played a Wii FPS? It's not exactly comfortable, it's very awkward. The Wii Mote's motion sensor isn't very reliable either. With or without Wii Motion Plus. You'd have cases of getting killed because your Wii Mote didn't move quite the way it should have, and doing quick aiming and turning will be a pain in the ass while holding it. I'd much prefer the precision of my mouse, or hell, I'd even settle for those god awful dual joysticks the consoles have, over the Wii Mote.
C: Lack of disc space. The fact on the Wii means that yea, it will have shittier graphics, but also not nearly as much content if they would've done a console or PC version. The Wii disc has as much if not a small amount more space on their discs as the gamecube did, which is the previous gens system. The amount of maps, game modes, weapons, ect will be limited because they are using a primitive like technology.
D: No custom content. Though this would only be for the PC version, having mod tools and being able to create maps and other mods for this game would be every GoldEye fans dream. Couple this with dedicated servers, and we could've had a real competitor to bump out MW2 in the most played FPS slot. (for the record, I do not play nor enjoy MW2, but despite either of those facts you can't deny it's popularity)
So no, for some of us it's not just because "hurr durr nintendo hate" that we are disappointed. They had a good idea, remaking a classic game. They just chose very poor execution.
Also, when is Nintendo or any of the 3rd party developers for the Wii going to give up on trying to get a stable online FPS going. It's not going to succeed. No one is going to want to sit on their couch, uncomfortably holding up a Wii Mote for hours on end, to play an online FPS. Especially with watered down graphics and gameplay. There are much better options for online shooters, they need to realize this.
It looks better than the games we've been getting for the Wii lately, so fuck it, I'll get it.
It's been a while since me and 3 friends could sit together and play a new game with 4 player splitscreen. Most games are two or none.
Wii exclusive + Activision
No thanks
It isn't Goldeneye if it isn't Brosnan.
Oh well, PC has Goldeneye mod for the valve engine.

Which serves as an excellent example of why remaking Goldeneye is a bad idea.
