Oh my wheat field is getting bigger and bigger :v:
Oh man after seeing this thread I tried the game out and I was not disappointed. I wonder if there's going to be a Stranded III, it'd be pretty cool if there was because all this game is lacking in is the graphics department. Some more combinations would be cool too.
It's to hard for me, I kept running out of trees!
It looks like gmod stranded... is this were the idea came from?
It looks like gmod stranded... is this were the idea came from?
Yeah, GMOD stranded got the idea from this.
I'm having to remove some areas which I don't think feel right. I'll bump the thread when I finish the map so don't worry.
Sorry for bumping a (months old?) thread with its last post being 4 weeks ago, but I have a semi-interesting announcement: I've coded in achievements for Stranded II as part of Massive Mod 2.0. Currently there are just two, but check it out: (Both achievements are still locked, if you mouse over one it tells you what you need to do, the first one is Kiwi Hunter and you need to kill 25 kiwis, the second is Lion Wrestler and you need to kill a lion with your bare hands) (I've now unlocked Lion Wrestler and can mouse over it to show what I did) (Almost done with the Kiwi Hunter achievement, as the progress bar shows) (The progress bar changes to green when the achievement is completed.) I've got quite a large list of achievements, and the first version of Massive Mod 2.0 should be out by this Friday and it'll have at least 5 or 6 different achievements. There is also a stats page: But it still needs to be finalized. So, comments?

And done! http://www.unrealsoftware.de/forum_posts.php?post=84044&start=0
http://files.filefront.com/Massive+Modrar/;10955023;/fileinfo.html ...Note: This update is very large and may include bugs. Please list them here so that I may fix them and my tester Flink can reproduce them. Thank you! Also, I highly recommend you check out the map MM_Mountain. The next update is going to be focused on more linking more stats, more achievements, and finally a little bit of Iron Working and Mining. That anvil needs some work. ;D Massive Mod 2.0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ by Builder2.0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Modification for Stranded II ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Contents: 1. Briefing --A. Installation 2. Changes 3. New Features 4. In-Depth --A. Skills --B. Weapons --C. Tools --D. Items --E. Misc --F. Buildings --G. Maps 5. Notes 6. Planned ~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Briefing ~~~~~~~~~~~ This section intends to give you a quick overview of what Massive Mod is and does. To start with, Massive Mod is a modification of the game Stranded II. The "2.0" represents version 2. The idea behind Massive Mod is to create a well made, comprehensive mod that allows you more variety, realism, and fun while playing Stranded II. This includes new skills, buildings, items, tools, weapons, various misc objects, maps, and other things. Included within this readme is a complete listing of all items in the mod, along with combinations for some of the simpler ones. Tips and hints will be given for more complicated items such as TNT or nitroglycerin. I hope you all have as much fun playing as I had making Massive Mod. INSTALLATION: To install, copy your basic default Stranded II folder somewhere else. Then, unzip the contents of the Massive Mod.rar so that you overwrite the mods/Stranded II folder. I asked you to copy your basic Stranded II somewhere else so that you would have an backup in case you did not like the changes made by Massive Mod. ALTERNATE INSTALLATION: First, rename the folder within this rar's "mods" folder "MassiveMod". Next, copy\paste your Stranded II folder (the one located at Stranded II/mods/Stranded II) and rename it MassiveMod. What you should now have is something that looks somewhat like this: Stranded II/mods/Stranded II Stranded II/mods/MassiveMod Next, unzip the contents of the Massive Mod.rar so that you overwrite the mods folder. The folder in this rar, that was renamed MassiveMod, should overwrite the the folder you've created. The bat file included is used to launch the mod. This way you can have your default Stranded, and the MM-modded version of it. Have fun! ~~~~~~~~~~ 2. Changes ~~~~~~~~~~ The changes made in Massive Mod are mostly in regard to drop rates for various items, namely vines and branches. Many creatures also now drop obvious items that they didn't have before, such as teeth, bones, skin, ect. Their are too many small changes to note all of them. However, many buildings have had their requirements tweaked, like the torch requires just 5 wood instead of 45(!). Another change is that in order to make drinks, or collect water, you need either bottles, waterskins or livers. Livers can be found from large animals, waterskins can be made with leather and vine or cord, bottles can either be glass or clay. Clay can be found in brown rocks, and shaped with a knife (combine with knife). Bake it in a fire. You can use a knife to cut a large meat into small meat, and small meat into raw bacon, or a large meat into a steak. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. New Features ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For a quick overview, Massive Mod incudes a ton of new items, such as fat, TNT, spears, an anvil, and other stuff. There are also a number of new skills, including: -Cooking -Foraging -Forging -Mining -Survivor -Pottery Furthermore, there is now a skills page and a page showing achievements. These can be viewed from the desk, a new building. ~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Indepth ~~~~~~~~~~ SKILLS: There are six new skills made already, and a few others planned (more on that later). The skills are Cooking, Foraging, Forging, Mining, and Survivor, Pottery. Cooking increases when you cook various items, do certain combinations, or create new ingredients. Survivor is a skill that increases every day you survive on the island, and at certain points it rewards you with increased carrying capacity, more health, or the ability to brew rudimentary teas, make salves, and other useful skills. Mining increases when you extract ore from rocks using a pick. Forging is the skill of smelting ores into useable metals and beating them into shape with a hammer to create tools. Foraging is the abiity to get more out of the environment by looking. It increases whenever you forage bushes, the ground, and flowers. For every 25 points in it you gain one extra item than normal. Pottery increases when you make various items out of clay and bake them. WEAPONS: There are four new weapons in this mod; 1. Flintlock Pistol --Flintlock Body + Barrel + Grip + Firing System. 2. Stick o' Dynamite --x2 Diatomaceous Earth + Nitroglycerine + x4 Paper + Fuse 3. Black Powder Keg --x10 Branch + x2 Iron Bar + Log + x10 Black Powder 4. Sword --x3 Branch, x10 Iron Bar, x3 Cord TOOLS: There are four new tools. The "Spade" in the old normal game has been renamed "Shovel," while the new tool is called "Spade." The shovel is used to dig up grubs and small items. The spade physically deforms the terrain, and can dig holes, or make hills. Both are made the same way. The knife can be used to dice up bananas, coconut meat, chop potatoes, and various other tasks related to cooking. The pan is held in your hand while using certain items near a fire to cook them. It is also needed in certain combinations. The pot is held in your hand while using certain items near a fire to cook them. It, like the pan, is also needed in certain combinations. ITEMS: Copper Nugget Copper Rod Coal Nugget Coal Dust Steel Rod Dirt Sulpher Charcoal Saltpeter Black Powder Diatomaceous Earth Sulfuric Acid Nitric Acid Nitroglycerin Glycerol Sodium Hydroxide Starch Paper Toluene TNT DNT MNT Coke Wooden Pole Flintlock Body Flintlock Grip Flintlock Barrel Flintlock Firing System Black Powder Keg Cooked Egg Egg Fat Berry Dough Banana Dough Coconut Dough Tropica Bread Chocolate Diced Banana Diced Coconut Meat Coconut Meat Coconut Milk Sheep Milk Coffee Beans Coffee Tropica Drink Fruit Punch Potatoe Chopped Potato Berry Bread Banana Bread Coconut Bread Tropica Bread Tomatoe Tomatoe Paste Sheep Cheese Omelet Cheese Omelet Chef's Omelet Tropica Omelet Plum Juice Berry Pie Shark Fin Soup Salad Caesar Salad Chef's Salad Pulled Pork Raw Steak Steak Seasoned Steak Barbecue Sauce Raw Bacon Bacon Hashbrowns Steak n' Potatoes Raw Shark Meat Cooked Shark Meat Lettuce Shark Fin MISC: To be updated. BUILDINGS: Most structures are now unlocked and buildable. Furthermore, there is now an Anvil, Mine, and Desk. The only new building worth constructing is the desk which allows you to view achievements, stats, and other information. To be updated. MAPS: There is a preview of the unfinished map MM_Mountain. To be updated. ACHIEVEMENTS: There are currently 3 achievements, and more planned; Kiwi Hunter, kill 10 kiwis Lion Wrestler, kill a lion with your hands Sadistic Bastard, light 4 sheep on fire The achievements page can be accessed from the desk, which can be built after you build a shelter. However, you can always earn achievements at any time. By hovering over an un-earned (greyed out) achievement you can view the requirements to earn it, and once earned the achievement will be colored and mousing over will tell what you did to earn it. A progress bar, red when incomplete, green when complete, marks certain achievements. STATS: There is a plethora of new stats planned and viewable in the desk, but currently only a few are actually "hooked up". So take note of that before wondering why "explosives detonated" is not increasing when you throw TNT. However, the desk should still mark the number of trees felled, monkeys killed, sheeps lit on fire, and various other interesting statistics. ~~~~~~~~ 5. Notes ~~~~~~~~ Massive Mod is a WIP. Sections 6, 7, and 8 are not included on the forum. Also, many of the items in this version require new models and more importantly need to have certain stats such as weight rebalanced. This will be done over the new couple releases. I hope you enjoy this new version of Massive Mod! :D Screenshots: -Builder
Links: Trickys Tutorials MM Topic: http://www.trickystutorials.com/index.php?showtopic=5618 Unreal Software MM Topic: http://www.unrealsoftware.de/forum_posts.php?post=84044&start=0 Facepunch Custom SS2 Forum MM Topic: http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?p=10686377#post10686377
That's amazing, I'm going to try it immediately!
Anybody know a way to stop bleeding, because I hate when you have a great camp, get attacked by an animal, and lose.
You put bark on it right?
I believe a leaf + branch makes a field dressing. *shrug* You can also use bloodleaf (the red plant), or a healing herb.

So facepunch, I'm starting on a new map and need to know.. What mod should I make it with? Normal? the "IQ" mod? Or "Massive Mod"?

Ok, so what's up with the game telling me "You need a dry fireplace!" when I'm NOWHERE FUCKING NEAR water?? Starting to piss me off, since a fire is pretty vital for survival. Other than that, it's a pretty cool game considering it's free.

We had a ton of mods going back a while ago, I made a cool weapons mod, let you make guns and swords. Edit: I also added in a couple un-buildable buildings, such as fences, and made them buildable.
Did you finish the other map?
Yeah, I'd like to know. It looked nice. Beside that, if you do make another one, use Massive Mod.
Anyone know how to cure poison?
Facepunch use to be big on this game a few months back. A group of us had quite a few custom extremely large maps and even a zombie mod that was never finished.
I remember playing around with making something like that. I used natives as the zombies for lack of any decent model, and they had no animation for it... But when they got close they'd deal damage. I took part of a map that was already there, it was like a little native village with your campsite at the top of a small hill. From the time the map started you had a little bit of time to collect the weapon and ammo from around the camp, to fend off all the zombies coming up from the village. I think I wanted to get the balance right so you'd have to skillfully kill the last few with a melee weapon, assuming you were a good shot. Or you could just swim away... But that's totally lame, and not why you'd be playing a zombie mod.
We need to get back into the modding business :) Is the custom forum still here or was it deleted? Edit: http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/forumdisplay.php?f=56704
I believe I've already been in the modding business for Thy Forum Of Facepunchers for the past... six months? ;D Also, OutcastX, if you do make a mod for MM, let me know and I may package it up with the next release. Anyway, feel free to suggest achievements, items, or changes you'd like to see in Massive Mod and I'll do my best to add them in. Huzzah.
You're a little late to the party. http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=467603&highlight=stranded+II
Welcome to '08, may I take your coat? Stranded II is a brilliant game. But for me, the crosshair is bit annoying.
Welcome to '08, may I take your coat? Stranded II is a brilliant game. But for me, the crosshair is bit annoying.
Hmm, I just noticed something. In that thread someone mentioned my mod and elevator13 responded:
The majority of the coding was done by a fellow named Incompatible.
Which is not true, the coding Inc did was for Gmod Stranded, not Stranded II. Totally different games and hell, languages.
Anyone know how to cure poison?
I think you use bitterroot or whatever it's called. It makes you throw up, but I think it gets poison out of your system. Also, to cure bleeding you can use some kind of blue plant, forget what the name is, but you can usually find it on the ground.
Yeah, I'd like to know. It looked nice. Beside that, if you do make another one, use Massive Mod.
FINE! I'll finish it, GOSH! I'd just like some more ideas to work on it.
This game is awesome. At first it's kind of difficult but after awhile it becomes easier and easier. The only things I'm stuck on is trying to find another flint rock, making a fishing pole and making a bow if it's possible.
I made a map for this once. if anyone wants it i can post the link to the thread.
