Never got around to unlocking Jedi, wish I did now though. :(
isnt SWGEMU up and working now? Or is it still in beta and not public? We should all try playing it, if its out, I haven't really understood much of it, and I didn't really get how it works. Plus I don't have CDs yet so..
I wonder how populated the EMU will be though.. I never got to try out Galaxies, but I kind of wish I did now
I was on it like 4 months ago and it constantly had in upwards of 400 people on, now that it has got update after update and have removed vendors giving out everything, and crafters actually have to do their job, who knows how active it is. I feel like going and playing now...
There are many people playing the EMU still, Corellia is always filled with tons of players.
Lots of shit on the Bazaar terminals too, so the crafters are also doing their jobs.
Oh dear god they added jedi on the emu, time to start grinding again, I am so happy right now!:holy:
kind of pisses me off they won't tell how to use the trial to play the game, and force you to buy the CDs which I cannot get my hands on, unless I start going hunting at ebay or amazon I suppose.
which I can't really afford to do at this given time..
Well...they are probably not doing it for SOE's benefit. SOE is mad enough at them, and the EMU team is (rightfully) not exactly happy with SOE.
No!!! The server is offline! :eng99:
[editline]10:46PM[/editline]
Broke my automerge... twice...
I always hear people talking about how great SWG used to be, it's a shame I never got to experience it in its glory days.

True enough.. I really think we should get some FPers playing together on the EMU now, and when the EMUS official servers are up and running.

Would love to but getting started would be a real ball ache. I wouldn't know where to start considering I got helped from the beginning when I played.

Well neither would I, but I guess that's a bit of the fun of it. And sure more experienced FPers probably a remember a thing or two.
At last check its going to be up in 31 minutes, who else is going to be on?
You're wasting your time if you're investing any real time into TC, wait until Suncrusher. I doubt they'll delay it because they would've said by now. Expect a Christmas release, but don't jump all over it if I'm wrong...
*sigh*. I fucking hate Vista. Need to find my old XP HD so I can install the damn game and play the EMU.

That is fun of it. I went from Runescape to SWG, talk about being overwhelmed. It was worth it though. If I forget anything I could always take a look at a strategy guide I bought of the game (for $0.01 ha) and nostalgia like a bitch.
As of right now there are 2 WIP emulators, SWGEmu, and SWG:ANH. SWGEmu has made tons of progress this year, so I'd say it's safe to assume it will have everything implemented pretty early into 2010. I'm not sure what SWG:ANH has finished as I have known about SWGEmu longer, but you can check out the SWGEmu progress page here.
so lets get some FPers and play on TC for the heck of it. Doesn't have to be serious, since its a test server

Yes, we all need to raid a stormtrooper camp
I was gunna be a geneticist before they raped the game
I would have clones animals as pets and shit
I'm going to go make a character on the emu, if anyone wants to nostalgia with me, I'm on under the same name as my FP name! :buddy:
Also apparently this thread is all about the emu now. :crossarms:
I've allways wanted to try this game it looks so awesome.
But how bad did that update break the game, is that SWGEmu thing 100% nessecery to enjoy the game?
pre-cu it was huge, everyone loved it, then the cu came around and around 50% of the population left, apparently they didn't get the hint so they released the NGE and the remaining 30-40% left, only people who stayed were people TRYING to make it fun by roleplaying... but they all eventually left. If you saw a graph, on the opening day of both of those patches, there is almost a 90 degree drop. :Dawkins102:
[editline]12:44AM[/editline]
However after the cu I got on and I loved setting up player made events, it was really fun.
I remember when I first unlocked Jedi and was back in my home tinkering with some furniture, when I suddenly see in the chatbox "knock-knock, it's the milkmaaan". That was the best BH I ever encountered. :D

To start with, they removed most of the classes in the game, from 35 (give or take, there's more if you count the subclasses of pilot/Jedi) to just 9. They removed the ability to drop your "tiers" in those classes (thus allowing you to free up some points if you wanted to (example) be a Bounty hunter/medic, but were currently Bounty hunter/pikeman, that's a very very basic way at looking at it, as the tier system allowed a massive amount of class control (you could be 4 or more classes at the same time, but you wouldn't be very good in any of them since you spread your points too thin) so now you can't multiclass anymore.

It would be easier to list everything good about Star Wars Galaxies, since that's a very very short list now
I remember when they changed the server population notice. All servers used to be "low" population after the NGE. So SOE changed it to 150 = low and 400 = high.
Most servers were still in low.
It would be easier to list everything good about Star Wars Galaxies, since that's a very very short list now
1) Community - Completely Destroyed
2) Crafting (which was essential to the game and not tacked on) - Destroyed
3) Player housing/city's - City's mostly pointless now, otherwise it's still there
4) Addition of Space combat (along with another crafting class) - Same as always, thankfully
5) Variety of classes - Utterly and completely destroyed
6) Ability to multiclass freely at anytime - Destroyed
7) Post-CU grind was very short - Destroyed, although the grind still isn't that bad
8) Very big maps with few instances - Relatively unchanged
9) Game was not drop based - Destroyed
10) Lots of content, even though alot of it was fairly pointless for high levels - Added more, most pointless still
11) Amazingly epic PVP battles - Sometimes, but not like it was
Off the top of my head. Bold's are subjects current state.

Now let's list the things that are good and/or Better than they were!
*Crickets chirp*
Maybe the realistic look of player models, and the planets all look the same as they did in the beginning, but what good is that if playing in those beautiful flowery fields of Naboo sucks
Speaking of Naboo, SoE wasn't happy with players working together to grind an endless spawn of highish level mobs for BeastMasters and their pets, so what did they do to stop it? Lower the rate of the spawn? Take them away completely? No. Instead, they decided to put them on the Intergalactic End Oh hell let the screenshot speak for itself

Prevent ANYONE from touching the mob!

Woot, we still have one good thing left!....*sigh*
Quest-based-content is the only thing improved, due to amount and not necessarily quality.
[editline]12:46PM[/editline]
Jesus, looking at that screenshot. I fucking hate that UI. It's so...WoWish. Thank god for my modding site, never could of played the NGE as long as I did without pre-NGE UI mods.

Yeah after a month of NGE, I had enough, haven't looked back. I don't even think I played the full 30 days, I miss the days of the Un-colored stick Figure icons

I played it up till about a year ago or so. Now I just check the forums for new chapters and listen to my cousin (who started playing a few weeks ago) in vent talk about the current state of the game.
I can't believe SOE, they have (and still are) added all kinds of content to the game, such as new houses, vehicles, and I think some buffs. Through there fucking CARD GAME. "What's that? People have been wanting pod racer vehicles since...forever? Well here you go, buy a booster pack of cards and ye may just get it!". Fuck off, it's just a reskined swoop, I seen it. I was already doing that years before we actually got it, which makes me wonder...why the hell were pod racing models in the game, when they were clearly unused?
[editline]12:58PM[/editline]
Ok ok, I take it back, they did ONE, and I mean 1onenumber1 thing to improve the game since the NGE. They added a crapload of items and freedom of use to the storyteller vendor, with which I have seen some people do some amazing role-play with.
Oh and I just thought of something, not too long ago they let you 'hide' your armor and display clothing instead, while still wearing the armor, But then again Depending on your profession Pre-NGE, we sort of had that, as a TKM and Jedi especially
