"That radio noise" from silent hill. Because when you here it, you know its about to get bad for you.
At least you can see things directly behind you.
You'll just see the screen fill up with evil fishgod as you panic, and flail around.
When shit constantly jumps in your face it isn't scary. When shit seems like it's constantly about to jump in your face it's scary as fuck.
Flickering lights In any horror game, they just make me feel tense, then all of a sudden your hear strange noises in every direction but you don't see anything :ohdear: also, the hissing noise they make.

Mirelurk Kings. I remember swimming in the underwater tunnels and killing a few plain ones, then I stepped up the stairs and saw he was glitched. I shot him once then he went crazy and started swimming towards be quickly and I could hear myself saying "ASDFASDLFKsdfl" trying to get my shotgun.
Personally my first reaction was What the fuck when it come to Kings, Now Deathclaws sneaking up on you and hearing a Big pain grunt followed by fuzzy camera...Ack

Quiet ambiance, silent footsteps, so-so action, a few little 'who gives a shit' enemies, then suddenly your sawn-off is loud as fuck and rings for a while. I actually jumped out of my chair and almost shit myself when I had to replace some sounds in F3, used the HL2 shotgun for the shotgun rifle thing in PL and it was about 10x louder than it should have been. [editline]11:03PM[/editline] Also, that fucking bloodsucker town in the first STALKER.
Escaping from the hotel in Call of Cthulhu; Dark Corners of the Earth.

The ... Beta ... Its makes random noises.. That are sharp!
Thank god they removed it! Also, zombies, roaches and Ants in fallout 3. Ants give me creeps. And Barnacles in the fucking sewer level. Fucking slippery floors.
Also, zombies, roaches and Ants in fallout 3. Ants give me creeps.
The fire breathing ants were the worst. Worst part was that I found those ants first, so I assumed all ants breathed fire, and at any sign of an ant I would just get the fuck out of there.
The hairs on them make me ran like a pussy.
The whole motherfucking SHADOW TEMPLE :saddowns:
Spoiler tag'd so I won't ruin the mindfuckery for those haven't played it yet. [sp]The start of the "role reversal" hallucination[/sp] in Batman Arkham Asylum. I thought that [sp]my TV got fucked up.[/sp]
Facehuggers in AVP2 :ohdear:
For no reason other than i hate things that are floating heads. Floating heads are creepy.
I remember the first time I fought Psycho Mantis in MGS1 I remember thinking "Why won't my attacks hurt him? Will he never die?!" Of course, then the Colonel piped in and I was like "oh" But I seriously thought until that point that the game was broken or something As for recently, I was running around on the "Lost" island in Just Cause 2 with no HUD looking for the smoke monster At like 4 in the morning
Trying to be sneaky and shitting myself when a guard appears out of nowhere in Oblivion. It's not particularly scary but.. sure makes you jump.
Holy fuck, one time I ran all the way from the Imperial City to Anvil, on foot, no fast travel, with like 3 of those guards chasing me the entire time They never stopped yelling Until I murdered them anyway
Vents. Although I've never run into another game that liked to scare the fuck out of you in vents the way Valve does, I'm still overly cautious about vents. And the stealth bar in Far Cry. Goddamn it, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?! AAAAAGH! /caps.
Not a lot lateley.. Im used to most of the crap games pull on you :P I remember being scared when i had to enter a dungeon in Oblivion though :o
Not a lot lateley.. The crackling noise on your intercom in F.E.A.R. used to scare the living shit out of me.
The crackling noise on your intercom in F.E.A.R. used to scare the living shit out of me.
In Perseus Mandate when the Asian guy just appears on the helicopter in the end, I didn't realize it at first then he just started disintegrating and I flipped the fuck out.
Yeah, I thought the same thing for a while >.< For me, dungeons in general are spare change of underwear time on Obby :ohdear:
Oblivion actually managed to be pretty creepy sometimes. And the dunwich building in fallout 3 was even worse.
