Well I don't hate a fictional character, I just hate the people that think he's so innovative when its just two arms with a gun floating around.
Well back in the day FPS characters like Gordon Freeman were unheard of and the FPS hero roster was basically full of archetypal military macho men, so it was a refreshing breather, which is why many people liked Gordon Freeman.
