Finally got my mob trap in a somewhat-working state.

I moved the collection area up a bit to be safe, though for some reason they still aren't spawning unless I'm REALLY close to the spawn rooms.

The ceilings are 4-5 blocks high, with there being 2 spawn rooms with each having a hole that drops into the bottom room that drifts them down the tunnel, into the well-placed lava block and has their loot washed down into the pit.

Seems like it should work perfectly, right?

The outside of the spawn area, it's a three story building, with the first story being filled with water to send the mobs to their death, and the remaining void of blocks to allow easy spawning (with holes to drop them to the first floor)

The killing process, the lava won't destroy the items, but I placed it correctly so that it would hover on the block and damage the mobs too close to it.
