Also, I hate the "But it'll help non-gamers become gamers!" shit. No it fucking wont. You don't get someone into movies by showing them Transformers, you don't get someone into books by showing them Twighlight and you don't get people into games by showing them Farmville. These nothing games, which add to nothing but the producer's coffers and my disguist, not only don't add anything, but they cheapen gaming by existing. They turn away potential fans, or sour the ideals of aspiring developers. Why play a new game when I can expand my shitty fucking farm? Why bother developing a new game when I'll get no support for my ideas? When the big guys who could get my game out to the masses are too busy developing CoD 56: Kotick's 4th Boat Deluxe Edition with a money plated gun? When the industry actively hates those with new ideas because there's a slightly greater risk of not making as large a profit and no chance for 50+ DLCs.
Another question is if anybody who gets lured to "games" through Farmville might ever be a valuable member of the community. And also this is why I support indie game developers. People like Wolfire, Notch, and even Garry are the only lasting chance for good games in future.
I hate those avatars. This isn't the wii.
Before I came into this thread I thought it would be about Microsoft destroying PC gaming completely and utterly. Turns out I was correct.
Haha, Future of what? Gaming for soccer moms?
Maybe they should stop fucking about with this crap and change their system to allow existing users to change the country that is registered to their account instead of having to create a new account.
Haha, Future of what? Gaming for soccer moms?
Yeah, pretty much. I don't know what you guys are getting all pissy about. You don't have to use it, and it clearly wasn't targeting hardcore gamers. I mean Games for Windows live is dead, and seeing its failure, its unlikely this will try to take its place. I mean if my parents were more interested in games, even basic ones like bejeweled, it would do at least a little to lessen the gap between how they see games, and how I do. I'm not going to use this thing, or buy a game that does, like I didn't when GFWL was around. I'm not pissing and moaning and wasting my energy on something that ultimately won't effect me.

If valve made an OS, would it be good?
And once again, Microsoft is late, and has a shitty version of whatever they are trying to make. (IE9, the Zune, MSN, etc.)
There's nothing wrong with Windows, this is just a shitty plan.
If valve made an OS, would it be good?
Valve is not an OS developer. So, no.
1:18 "Justin B." :v:
you guys do know the amount of people who play bejeweled on their standard PC far exceed the amount of serious "PC Gamers" that's the target demographic here, they're not putting their effort to get serious PC gamers. 50+ million copies of Bejeweled > 12+ million copies of HL2
It seems like Microsoft is too focused on their Xbox
Steam is PC gaming, move aside Microsoft.
I'm surprised how they haven't made it official yet.
It seems Microsoft has no idea what gaming is.
Only good thing about that video is BF2:MC part, and the F2000 avatar item.

How many bought different versions of the game? There are over 30 million active steam users and over 25 million active WoW players. Saying there's a larger market because 50 million copies were sold between 2001 and now isn't exactly valid. These are one time sales as opposed to Steam/WoW's active users.
You can't really say "you can just not use it" if game are gonna keep using this crap and will keep forcing us to use this shit if we want to properly play the games.
What are you talking about. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there weren't a whole lot of developers that opted to use GFWL in the first place, and now its gone. The majority of the games they depicted were casual and their depiction of BF2 could have referred just as easily to BF2 Online. The other games in that list were also avaliable on XBL. I for one wasn't hindered much when GFWL was active in the first place, I think I had one, or two that used it out of the dozens of games in my library.
If this is for pc why was halo 3 on that guys list of games?
Microsoft, please stop it :saddowns:
I'm so fucking sick of the word "social" If I wanted to be social I wouldn't be gaming on a fucking PC you asshole
This is bad because you know Microsoft is going to spend a lot of money buying exclusives like they did for the Xbox. Want the newest game on PC to play online? Then you're going to have to wait 2 months or use this shitty service! Not to mention any games by developers Microsoft owns.
P0wned :v:
The only reason Steam isn't PC gaming yet is because half of the PC games that come out this year PROBABLY WON'T FUCKING WORK ON STEAM. Crytek why isn't Crysis 2 going to work with Steam? :frown:
Where is my PC version of Fable 3, Microsoft? You keep promising stuff but you never seem to keep them. :smith:
What's funny is that they didn't change anything.
This is really sad, considering the derp-herpers out there who use this crap
The fuck is wrong wit this shit
