So if this really happened in real life, what kind of profession or job that you had be the best for surviving?
President
I hope they let you go naked
Any talks of melee weaponry being in the game yet? If so, berserker mode is go. Blood for the blood god.

I wonder if wildlife will be included, so you can hunt for food. Really adds to the survival aspect.
Aren't the maps supposed to be based off of real life areas? I always wanted to do that. Wonder where I would want to survive. Defend my house against the horde.
The first map they're gonna have is supposed to be Colorado or something.
Hopefully a good mix of urban/outer areas. I've been to Colorado and it goes from city to western frontier in an instant.

It'll give a believable transition between zones that allows a more diverse starting map. Personally, I think it'd be neat if they made a big bridge that connected two areas of the map. Obviously they'd have to allow ways for players to get around without using the bridge, but it'd be neat way of creating two segregated play zones and one high traffic area. If they made a new map I mean, not trying to say they should retcon Colorado.

I just hope those huge buildings will be enterable, not all the floors of course, but still.
bridge with underwater tunnel right below it pls
"wowo somebody pls nerf the goldengate bridge, it's too long to travel on foot."
I just hope those huge buildings will be enterable, not all the floors of course, but still.
no all of them every single floor
"wowo somebody pls nerf the goldengate bridge, it's too long to travel on foot."
I wouldn't be surprised if someone said that legit, some people online really are idiots.
Oh God, idea. "Fifty Shades of Grey" scattered about the wastes :v:
Oh God, idea. "Fifty Shades of Grey" scattered about the wastes :v:
Why not scatter any kind of book around the worlds? that'd definitely would make finding notes interesting. maybe the dev team can whip up a quick "zombie survival guide" scattered around the world as well, that might be a good idea to request during the open beta.
Oh shit, imagine if one day they also include short audio recordings. You could leave a few tapes around the place recording some sort of descent into madness. ooooor...
"Fifty Shades of Grey" scattered about the wastes :v:
Also, i hope they'll come out with a solid date of release for beta/pre-purchase other than "in fall".
You're getting exoperience points for exploring world, killing zombies, killing enemies, just surviving long enough. You spend those experience points to learn skills off skill tree. Skills are not typical RPGish shit like "Damage +100". They're your natuaral real world training - runs SLIGHTLY faster, sprint for longer distances, use medical supplies more efficiently, etc. Ie - seasoned player will become more suited for survival than new one, but he won't became superhero who will survive headshot for example or will move wtwice as faster
via www.thewarzgame.com/forums/showthread.php?12-Ask-Developers
That post just solidified my plans to just be a bandit.
Imagine if you could use supplies as part of a trap: You could lay a huge pile of food a fair distance away from you, but still in clear sight of your scope. Next to the food is a note that says "If you can see yourself reading this note, I can too."
Read the newest interview with Rocket. What he said is that his ideal goal would be to buy the license of the arma 2 engine and make the engine compatible to Dayz and not dayz compatible to the engine like it is currently since it's only a mod. He searches for a team to help him with that since it's alot of work to rewrite and redo the engine to fit dayz especially, his fav team would be bohemia themselves! That's what he said, and more stuff regarding that will come out at the end of this year. But to be honest, The War Z already looks better than dayz in everyway... I really hope rocket still gets the $$$ he deserves for Dayz, but he will atleast need another year to do something like this that you can buy.
One would think since he works at Bohemia and they've seen a massive increase in sales they could form a team with him as lead to make DayZ standalone based on the Arma3 engine?
Doesn't change the fact that it is used for cheating, by hiding your model behind some cover and watching SAFELY from it, without letting other people know that you are there. This is wrong. Bad...terrible...terribly awful people are capable of ambushing by doing this. First person is the only way to play any game that has a PvP aspect with ambushing and isn't some fast paced crap. Sorry, but I really hope, they put only first person view on hardcore mode. Oh, btw... I'm also tired of surfing through endless "carebear" edition servers in dayz already (3rd person camera enabled). Want to simulate your awareness? Buy 2 additional displays and use huge ass panaromical resolution. That's not a problem!
One way to fix the problem with peeking behind corners in third person, only render players that are in a 160 degree (or something that'd simulate human vision well) angle from your face, so if someone is standing right behind you, you wouldn't see him, only hear him if he moves. This would bring it's own problems of course and if you don't communicate to the player clearly how it works it'd be hell.
Do you really think they're gonna make the shop pay2win with the absolute best items available when the majority of the enjoyment found in these types of games is going out and finding these items yourself? If you want a reason to be skeptical, just know that Sergey Titov, the man interviewed on IGN, was the co-owner of the group that made Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, and programmed it as well. Granted right now he's only part of the company publishing this game, but imo this still merits some concern.
Pretty sure I read something about this, I think Titov made the engine and licensed it. He had nothing to do with the game otherwise. Found the interview: http://www.yourewinner.com/index.php?action=stitovinterview
via www.thewarzgame.com/forums/showthread.php?12-Ask-Developers
he only replied to a couple of posts and the ones he did reply to were stuff that were already known, except for what you quoted i wonder if it's just that he can't talk about a lot of it or what
Isn't Sergei Titov one of the guys who worked on Big rigs?
What if you could use junk to create decoy "loot piles" and instead of leaving a note, just wait for them to try and grab it. saves your stuff just in case you miss.
What about a big pile of junk covered in a thin layer of good loot? Or a big pile of C4 covered in guns and gold coins, for the matter. I don't care if it's expensive or I lose the loot I piled up on it. I just want to crack my own ribs laughing over the victim's reaction.
I want to make a pile of loot, and leave a bunch of notes that say: "NOT A TRAP" "TOTALLY LEGIT" "I DIED YOU CAN HAVE THEM" "SAFE ZONE, GO AHEAD AN TAKE THEM" "NO BOMBS ANYWHERE"
The WarZ will be on steam.
I hope War Z won't turn into DayZ and just turn into Deathmatch + Zombies. I'd like some actual teamwork with random strangers rather than a, "It seems you have a low power rifle. Let me take out my 12.7BMG and take that from you."
