http://forums.thewarz.com/showthread.php?366-Ponies So.....It begins..... GOD DAMNED.
I'm really excited about this game, but the large amount of generic MMO content (e.g. global shops/currencies, grind zombies 4 cash, skill trees) is worrying me [editline]1st August 2012[/editline] Course, I'm probably just being cynical, as my dream for this game was a DayZ that works
It seems really iffy so far.
You can't farm, hunt animals, etc in War Z. Not yet at least, not for release. BUT - I can answer that yes you'll be able to build communities, your own worlds, but I really can't give you more details. But trust me it's really cool thing. And our guys working hard to make sure it'll be available to our players.

We actually have one more ace in a sleeves, but I can't really talk about it. I really want, but other guys on a team will kill me if I do that before they actually test it out :)
Oh shit
Sergey you asshole. Fuck the team and just tell us.
Can you kill animals at all? How do you get food if you're out in the countryside (assuming there's such thing as hunger/dehydration)
Can you kill animals at all? How do you get food if you're out in the countryside (assuming there's such thing as hunger/dehydration)
my guess is that either there are no animals, or you simply can't extract the meat from those that you kill
They said they're going to add hunting before release.
erm where did they say that? in the quote a couple of posts above he says specifically not for release
Ah, shit. Let me try to find it.
It may be a bit too early to voice concerns over the game but I have a couple I want to share: 1. They should stick to the 200-400 km^2 map sizes. If I recall correctly, that is larger than Arma II's Chenarus. The massive map in DayZ gave a feeling of uncertainty, loneliness, and it made you paranoid. It paces the combat as well, making each little skirmish something memorable - shooting other players and zombies 24/7 spoils these moments. 2. Every building should be enter-able. I hate it when a developer advertises a "sprawling metropolis" yet you only enter a few, if any at all, of the buildings. To me, it's a way of saying "We've made a gigantic forest of blocks, enjoy peeking around corners of buildings!". Enter-able buildings make cities even SCARIER than the fact that they may be crammed full of zombies. Having each building enter-able adds another layer of uncertainty and gives a genuine "surprise" factor in terms of player vs player combat. One moment you may be cautiously walking down a ruined street. The next, bullets snap against the surfaces around you. Do you have any idea where the shots came from? NOPE. The person who popped shots at you is scooting away, leaving his little fortress on the fifth floor of an apartment building behind. If the game's engine is good, and the issues above are address, then I'll be throwing my money at my monitor.

As for the maps then there's really no issue there at all. They've stated that they're starting with one large map (between 200-400km^2) based on Colorado if I recall correctly with more to come in future updates (which I should add, are entirely free) based around real locations and each sprawling just as wide or wider than the release map.

Not like that model doesn't match a modern zombie survival or anything.
Wow, seriously? Reusing models is... Ugh... It's just awful..
Wow, keep up. I highly doubt War Z has capture the flag either.

I'm not trying to DEFEND DayZ or anything because I personally don't Like it.

Anyways, I'm just worried that this thing will be made to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
why exactly are you judging the game based off of War Inc
Because he's your typical DayZ fanboy faggot, basically.
