what engine does this use?
Their own in-house engine as far as I understand.
Probably gonna get this, but I wonder how it will play.
I hope this game includes barricades, so you can make your own little base with a group of survivors.
One time purchase... the Micro model looks great too.
Combat worries me a bit though. Its being marketed and developed as an MMO... with skill trees and other MMO type things. The last thing I want is a skill-based, hotkey-combat type of MMO. I'm telling you now if that is the type of combat here then I am not going to be investing in this game. I'm quite tired of those kinds of MMOs as they end up as WoW re-skins in how they actually play.
Regardless though I'll definitely keep an eye on this one.

They did refer to the game as a shooter at some interview so I'm assuming they won't go with hotkey combat.
Now all the "fans" of dayz are going to shit their MW3 labeled chairs and talk about how they copied dayz.
They copied dayz.

I dident read building your own little base but i did read that you can hold out in a building and barricade stuff like that to hold out in.
They copied dayz.
How about i copy your face to the ground.

And build traps apparently.
what engine does this use?
It uses the Eclipse engine used in War Inc.
It uses the Eclipse engine used in War Inc.
Has anyone played that? Is the engine any good? I know War Inc. itself is horrible but how is the engine?
I'm pretty sure this is from World War Z rather than DayZ.
I could be wrong, who knows?

What?
Competition is good folks, Rocket (dayz dev) talked about this and he also said that he needs to hurry up getting dayz as a standalone game so nobody else does it first or gets ideas from him and makes the money themselves. Rocket will hurry more now... probably like he considered he will buy an license to the arma 2 engine and start working on dayz with bohemia together.
This game sounds fantastic, I hope it feels fantastic too.. animations or stupid sounds can really break a game for me.
They copied dayz.
Explain how, please. Far too many people are saying this just because they heard about DayZ before this.
Also, i'm not sure if you've noticed, but the only thing this game and DayZ has in common is that it's a survival freeroam zombie shooting game.
"Copy" implies it's almost exactly the same, or in your sense of using it, "pretty much the same as DayZ" without looking into what the game has to offer. (i know you didn't because if you did you wouldn't say that)

Well this game is pretty much DayZ only as a seperate game and with more stuff, but it was in development before DayZ was released so it's still not a copy.
That's what i'm trying to say.
That's what i'm trying to say.
No, you're trying to say that it's completely different, it's not, it's very much like DayZ.

It has most of the features of DayZ and then some.
I say forget the baseball cap and his attire, looks like Agent 47 to me

I was trying to make funny joke as the guy above me said "People are gonna come in saying they copied dayz", and i said "They copied dayz" in the next post. I'm sorry for making the joke seem to serious :(
Has anyone played that? Is the engine any good? I know War Inc. itself is horrible but how is the engine?
It looks nice but some of the animations are shit but that's probably War Incs devs being idle.

Now why would he need to buy a license for the ARMA2 engine if he's going to work on it with Bohemia?

Wow there goes all my hype.
Wow there goes all my hype.
Don't worry, it's not made by the same guys.
Just the fact that it's published by the same guys who decided it was a good idea to publish War Inc. is enough of a turnoff, not to mention that Eclipse is perhaps an even worse engine than Arma 2's imo.

A bad game can be on a good engine. Just look at Revelations 2012.
The idea of "switching" between "Hardcore" and "Normal" is goddamn idiotic. Why isn't hardcore just the standard gameplay?

Yeah fuck those not hardcore players fucking casuals everyone should be hardcore like you right
This looks completely awesome. As much as DayZ is fun, you really can't beat a game built from the ground up vs a mod for a relatively unstable game.
That is, unless the game sucks, in which case fuck.

It has nothing to do with World War Z. Even if it did, that connection has nothing to do with DayZ.
