I've also yet to see a shotgun, isn't that like, the staple gun of zombie shit. [editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
It's gonna be fun.
Can we keep the petty bullshit to their respective forums and not drag it here please? both parties involved are pathetic. -Quote I posted is fake, apparently-

[editline]11th August 2012[/editline] Actually, shotguns suck for the Zombie apocalypse, because they are slow to fire and reload, inaccurate and you have to be close up to the Z's to kill em. Dayz will not manage to catch up – there’s too many features for Dayz to cover and too many server exploiters/server hoppers shitholes in community. WarZ is made for to promote cooperative gameplay. Zombies can be killed only headshots, can’t sprint forever, shortage of ammo etc.
I'm not trying to start anything, I have high hopes for this game and the dev team, I just think sergey is a moron. [editline]11th August 2012[/editline] That's beside the point, you always see shotguns in zombie games/movies, they're just generally badass and it's always fun to see a zombie get blown the fuck apart by a shotgun @ guy that incorrectly quoted my post forcing me to not be able to quote him
Let's say sergey is not the most delicate person in the world. But i don't think he's " a moron ", he's just really bad with english and say what he thinks. Also he's trying to promote his game, game constantly compared to DayZ ( should drive you insane after a while ). And well, there's some truth in his speech, there's huge gamebreaking holes in DayZ, mostly due to the ArmA engine itself, and i don't think rocket can fix that anytime soon, not before ArmA 3 at least.

Maybe I'm not the most delicate person in my speech either. You've gotta feel bad for both parties, Sergey's War Z is compared to another game that has a huge cult following, and Rocket's dealing with the terrible engine limitations of a game that's designed as a War sim, with a tiny team.
Actually, if they take things correctly, I'd take either an M4 in semi-only (Or AR-15), or a .22 rifle. .22 is easy to suppress, and weighs practically nothing.
I've been reading that reedit post. I love how he's shitting all over WarZ, and then, at the end : NO NO I'M NOT BUTTMAD ABOUT WARZ, I'M JUST CONCERNED ABOUT IT, MAYBE IT'S A VAPORWARE AND THAT'S ILLEGAL * insert your little legal speech here * Yeah right. Why should you care and make that big ass angry post if you think it's a vaporware. Stop. Nobody gonna eat that.
Actually, shotguns suck for the Zombie apocalypse, because they are slow to fire and reload, inaccurate and you have to be close up to the Z's to kill em.
And is your reference by any chance Call of Duty? I'd like to hear what doesn't have to do with it still being a mod in alpha stages.
I'd like to hear what doesn't have to do with it still being a mod in alpha stages.
This is the only fucking defense DayZ has.
i can understand the silencers, what with zombies liking loud noises and all, but the guns defo need less holographics/eotechs IMO; not that people couldn't get their hands on some, but come on we've got them in all these modern warfare combat tactical operation games already and i really don't think they fit into the zombie world too well
how do they not fit in? they probably raided a warehouse that stocked them or a military base, not sure how that doesn't fit into the world
lol, please name those holes due to the arma engine please. I'd like to hear what doesn't have to do with it still being a mod in alpha stages.
Stop, you're embarrassing Day Z fans all over, I consider myself a pretty hardcore fan, I've played A LOT of Day z, but the engine isn't made for it. you can literally just delete files in the arma 2 folder and be able to walk and move through walls, because the game is designed as a heavily modifiable military simulator [editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
This is the only fucking defense DayZ has.
A more reasonable defense is "The engine isn't made for it", no amount of fixing and patching will fix Day Z if it uses the Arma 2 engine, it's simply not viable with the sort of thing Day Z is.
how do they not fit in? they probably raided a warehouse that stocked them or a military base, not sure how that doesn't fit into the world
Not to mention all the stuff seen so far (short of machineguns, miniguns and stuff like that) is readily available to civilians in the US and other countries. Heck, most of the "assault" rifles could just be semi-automatic variants for all we know, and it would make a lot of sense.

going through the desolate, dirty, rusty, dusty, burned ruins of mankind, carrying a shiny hitech rifle equipped with rails, rails, an eotech, forward grip and some more rails? rapes, kills and cremates some of the low-tech survival feeling for me. although if full auto guns are rare, i'll be happy sometimes i just want a shooter/action whatever game taking place in the 80's just to get away from all these goddamn lasers and holos that a certain FPS published by Activision seems to have popularized
And is your reference by any chance Call of Duty?
No it is not, why would you think that? Also would you mind explaining why I am wrong instead of just assuming shit?
Shotguns aren't like they are in video games. If you are using slug a shotgun is exactly like a rifle. Even buckshot has a pretty long range... "Too slow to fire" what? Are you thinking of a fucking 1852 blunderbuss or some shit? You could empty a shotgun in a few seconds. Plus we've seen a SPAS-12 in screenshots, which is a semi-auto shotgun. "Too slow to reload" not really unless you're retarded and/or using a double barrel/single barrel shotgun.
I think there's also a Saiga-12 in one of the screenshots. Kalashnikov-based, mag-fed, semi-auto supreme fucker of everything. Load it with slugs and call yourself a Space Marine.
I think there's also a Saiga-12 in one of the screenshots
yes, it's confirmed.
Slugs? Why not go all the way and use Frags! [sp]jk frag rounds would be terribad[/sp]
Since there's already some over-the-top stuff in the screenshots, I wouldn't be surprised if some military camps have a box of two of FRAG-12 shells.
i just read this whole thread what i pulled from it is that this game looks a little shifty but a lot of awesome, and that toomuchfags is obnoxious as fuck
I just hope you can take control of an M2 when in game, but never be able to reload it. It'd attract all zombies in a massive radius, be extremely accurate, do tons of damage, but cannot be reloaded, and only found on APCs or Humvees. It'd be best as a crowd-control or distraction weapon.
See 60+ new posts Think the beta has started Nothing but people acting like five year olds.
See 60+ new posts Think the beta has started Nothing but people acting like five year olds.
I totally thought the same. I'm pepped for the beta.
This is the only fucking defense DayZ has.
Ahahaaha you people in this thread. I don't even like DayZ. But I fucking love Arma 2. I'm aware that hacking is a huge problem with the Arma 2 engine, it's one of the big reasons Arma 2 multiplayer hasn't caught on in the past, but I really wouldn't blame DayZ for that. Nor would I blame the Arma engine for no really supporting what DayZ is trying to do. I'm sick of TMFag digging to find ways to hate on both. "embarrassing DayZ fans all over". Right. [editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
lasers, flashlights, sights, etc are all readily available in large stock in the US it's completely realistic and fits perfectly into the world
He's right though. On a bit of a different level though, I wish more games would take place in the '80s too. It gets away from all the super gimmicky technology that games tend to cling to when set in present/near-future. The Cold War is an incredibly interesting time period for warfare, and is completely overlooked by 99% of gamedevs. Again, a bit unrelated, but yeah. The only problems a gritty zombie survival game will run into with that is what he said: attachments everywhere. Especially when you put it in the hands of these guys, who I don't think fully understand the beauty of simplicity. Although even that might be averted if there's an attachment system (which there is planned isn't there?).
