My problem isn't that they're too slutty, and maybe it's just because I like realism in my survival games, but it just looks silly and unrealistic
Nametags. Go up to a player, press/hold E on them. menu pops up saying "Waiting for player approval" and you can't do anything like shoot/move. The other player can't move/shoot either until they accept or deny. Once you accept, a nametag appears above their head.
Neato.
I honestly don't see how it could be abused.
Woah wait, is that actually in the game?
Woah wait, is that actually in the game?
I hope so.
Finally had a nice encounter with another player. Find a guy and clearview, he sees me as hes running from zombies. I leave him alone and check the supermarket. I turn around and there he is, completely unarmed. I'm about to pop him anyway until he gives me a 9mm mag and then runs off. I call him back and give him my spare bat and then go on my way. Little bit later at the ranger station, I see a guy fighting zombies. I go to help him out, but instead club the guy with my hammer. It was the same guy from earlier.
And then I found an m16, so its all good.
Would anyone like to join me in a game? Oh and if you do I'm still very new to this game and I have no idea what I'm doing... :v:
I don't usually make a big deal out of these things, but pointing out that the japanese are doing it worse doesn't make the women in WarZ any less sexualised. They're scantily clad, very slim and busty for no reason other than sex appeal. I don't mind sex appeal in games but this isn't even subtle or believable, so I can see why people are making a deal out of it, there's plenty of reasons to criticise the female player models.
The fact that the characters I chose were from Japanese games is purely coincidental. And again, a bare midriff is not "scantly clad". Out of the four women in that one concept art pic a few pages ago, the ONLY one that's questionable was the chick in the skirt and the fishnet stockings. The rest are all over-reactions.
you're joking right
Maybe it's different where you live, but where I'm from it's not uncommon to see a few bared midriffs on a spring or summer day.

no u dont get it
the devs made her show her midriff, therefor she must be a SLUT
[editline]11th November 2012[/editline]
And if you bitch about how she's not dressed for the situation, neither is the cage fighter. Hell, the only two characters that even look remotely well dressed for the zombie apocalypse are the two characters they just recently added. Even then, the average joe could only be wearing a t-shirt which sure as hell wouldn't do him any better than what the girl is wearing.
So worth getting into the alpha?
no, gaise, dis is y teh doods n game r fine but da gurls arent, k?

They're all needlessly over sexualised, and it's not even subtle, and yes scantily clad for a sustained zombie apocalypse. You'd be a little more concerned about surviving than showing of your cute little waist, plus they have pretty ideal body figures being quite slim and busty, they look more fitting for a grand theft auto game. It just comes off as bit cheap and pervy, nothing wrong with attractive women in games, but I don't think WarZ has gone about it the right way. Not really going to bother me much, I just look at it as lazy and uncreative, but I could fully understand why people, paticularly women would have issues with this.
Jesus H. Christ people just decided to skip over my post or something, we're gonna have more customization options, hopefully there will be more appropriate clothes that you can costumize your men and women with. And the reason there's no fat people is because they couldn't run fast enough when all hell broke loose, nah just kidding it would be nice to have them as well.

I was unable to get this to work, I stood with my pals there pressing E. Nothing happened, how does this exactly work?
I was unable to get this to work, I stood with my pals there pressing E. Nothing happened, how does this exactly work?
I think that was a suggestion he was making, not an actual feature that's already in-game.
So if someone starts shooting at me, I should run towards them, hold E for the request, then begin to logout? :v:
Noooo! Neither of you can do anything except accept or deny that window. You can't log out, move, shoot, jerk off, nothin'!

Again with the "bare midriff = slut" comparison. Do you really think that ANYONE who decides to show a little tummy is a slut? Be a little more open-minded, man, most of those women are probably decent women with decent personalities, y'know, rather than the nymphomaniacal sexpots you seem to think they are.

I honestly don't think a little bit of tummy showing is "needlessly over-sexualized". I think that's a needless over-reaction. If they were all wearing short skirts with visible thongs and stiletto heels I'd be on your side, but as they are now (with the exception of that one woman in the skirt and fishnets) they're all pretty tame.

Point is why can't the devs model clothing a normal female would wear instead of tight short tank tops showing off skin. I can assure you women do not normally dress like that unless they are looking for attention.
No, THIS is sex appeal. THAT is not "slutty" nor is it pure sex appeal. Any women confident in her self-image is likely wear clothes that expose their midriff in temperate climates, not just "sluts".
Walk around in a temperate climate city. Unless it's a tropical, sea side city, you will rarely see anyone with a bare midriff.
On top of that, exposing your midriff in a situation where bites, scratches and who knows what else is common is just daft.
Don't forget those women will be moving trough vegatation which is fairly not that grat to walk around in plain skin around in. Ideally the woman would have a t-shirt and a shirt with long sleeves.
To you it looks too tame to be sex appeal. But in that case you're just disensitised to what sex appeal is.

The problem is that they are needleslly oversexualised to the situation they should be in. Which is a survival situation where you move trough a lot of vegetation. It doesn't even matter if it was common fashion. It's not functional fashion.
Why do you think you don't see treckers in city boots, skirts, hosiery, ripped jeans and who knows what else. Most things tend to be good strong durable materials which also general cover a lot of the body. Even more important if you plan to actually run around in a forest or something.
Hell the amount of ticks you'll prevent just by that is enourmous. Or mosquito bites.

Or because they like how they look in those clothes. Not everyone wears certain kinds of clothing purely because they want attention.
Or because they like how they look in those clothes. Not everyone wears certain kinds of clothing purely because they want attention.
People wear revealing clothes to gain attention from others, that's kind of how fashion works in general. Point is if the game takes place 5 years after the initial attack I wouldn't expect someone wearing clothes that don't cover their bodies properly as realistically they become a hazard to themselves and teammates. Its quite obvious the women have been designed sexually.

But is it really as bad as it could have been? I mean again, it's just bare midriffs. If the devs want sex appeal they could have easily made them all wear short-shorts with visible thongs and DD-cup breasts. I think they did something similar to that in War Inc, IIRC.
Holy fucking shit no-one cares about you people and your fucking personality complexes on gender politics. Get a fucking room.
Back on topic: CMag M4 is the best thing in the history of everything. Just need a decent scope/sight now and I'm good to go.
i agree the m4 is a fucking beast

If you take a look at female zombies in the game, notice how they're dressed compared to the actual female survivors, whats with the blatant difference in clothing? What we're arguing is how females have been sexulized for marketing purposes and we don't think that's equal or right. Its a logically fallacy (a reductio ad absurdum, false dilemma and even strawman) to force us between bikini girls are scantily dressed girls and ask us to pick which one is more sexist of the option because both of them are. Just because the devs decided to not make them wear bikinis doesn't take the heat off them at all, they just know they couldn't get away with that when they're trying to give the game 'realism'.

get the jump on someone and press/hold E, have them locked in the menu for a few seconds while they register what's going on, tell friend to come out and execute them while they're vulnerable?
I'm stupid and confused. So if I buy the $20 dollar survival version I still get to play the beta right? And the full game when it comes out?
oh yeah earlier I killed my first bandit only to be beaten to death by his friend with a hammer in a closed compact building.
If you take a look at female zombies in the game, notice how they're dressed compared to the actual female survivors, whats with the blatant difference in clothing?
Ok that's a valid point. I kinda forgot about that because it's been a while since I last played.
Jesus christ I checked back in this threat about 5 times for news and discussion about WarZ, only to find out it's turned into a gender equality debate.
Seriously I hate women being depicted as sluts, but I just don't care too strongly about them in this game, nor do I think this is the time or place to talk about it.

I think we can both agree we're being silly now though, I'm just hoping in the future they'll reconsider and give men and women some more practical gear.
