Here is an honest question.
In an alpha test, do you think they should be banning exploiters/hackers?
If so, do you think that on release, they should unban them, and give them the full game, since they preordered the game and were allowed access to alpha (obviously, if they hack again, ban).
That is why I got a refund. I doubt I will ever receive my pre-order because I was perma banned for "exploiting" and they won't actually tell me what supposed exploit I used. I didn't even have time to exploit, server hop, dupe or whatever. In between summer school and visiting my baby daughter in hospital, I had a few hours last week to play, and I didn't spend them "waiting for server list" while I hopped.

Of course the hackers should get banned! If you are reverse-engineering the game to give yourself an unfair advantage you deserve much more than the loss of $30.
However, exploitation of game bugs etc. is a different deal entirely.

But hold on, we aren't playing the game, not according to the devs who banned me and said "you haven't played the game yet, only an alpha test". They should be banned from the alpha, and reinstated when it goes full. But here is the thing, the attitude of the devs, the "cycle" they are following, all indicate that this is about as good as it will get, and the promises will continue to be delayed.
I do agree they've been handling this poorly. I don't think this Dev team know how to act toward people cheating and those who happen to get accused of cheating.
If this went under a publisher of a bigger name, I'd think the publisher would have found a more PR friendly solution to this.
Though, I can't stand on either side, the devs or banned players.
I have no evidence that either side is bullshitting or not. I wouldn't take the word of either group.
Jesus. With all the mindless bans going around, I think I'll wait a while before playing. :v:
I keep getting killed by hackers boo
this is dayz all over again

I'm really curious about the "mindless bans". Have we confirmed any bans?

I'm pretty sure this is related:

This game has become nearly unplayable. You can't join a server with more then 20 people without random-ally dieing by some aimbotter from 50 miles away.... seriously, if this keeps up... this game is doomed. Usually hackers don't mean shit, seeing you could just get an admin and kick them out. But in a game where everything you find can be lost in one second, hacking just becomes complete bullshit.

You can't blame the game if you aren't good at it. Use the server browser and join a low pop server. My issue isn't with the game. I like the game, love it in fact. My issue is with the devs refusing to communicate with their community and actually explain bans.
I got banned, waited a week couldn't get unbanned because no one message me back. I was kinda tired of the hackers and all of the drama so I said fuck it. Got myself a refund. I'm honestly worried about how far back this game is going to be in a year in comparison to the obviously similar Day Z. :P
I thought the game was alright but it's definitely not worth the money I put into it, especially when I got banned for doing absolutely nothing. I barely even killed anyone (minus myself, I'd find high ledges and jump off :P)
I've glitched the map collisions more than once to get myself to a safe zone without being seen or just to explore the locked part of the map, I have yet to be banned a single time. I'm more inclined to believe the devs at this point than I am in believing the players, almost every criminal says he's innocent, and in most cases it's just bullshit, the same situation applies when it comes to hacking, it isn't the first time we've seen people saying they were banned for no reason when in fact they knew pretty well why they were banned.
I don't know exactly how their anti-cheat system works but couldn't a computer virus altering the files trigger a modified exe / dll detection and for it to be detected as cheating?
Arrgh, first time I find a gun, I get an M4, Jerico and a Saiga all within 20 minutes. I also find a large bag and helmet with tons of food and meds. I walk out of a shop and get riddled with bullets...

When in the world did 20 people getting killed by an aimbotter in a matter of one minute ever consider being skillful? You can't even see the person, seeing he's miles away. This has happened to me at least 3-4 times now. The sad part is that it's basically forcing me to have less fun, playing with less people. I want the action, not aimlessly just walking forever.
I'm not even counting the people who just started using god mode...
I was just about to buy, but they suddenly raised the price $10.
Looks like I won't be doing that now.
Or was the $15 minimum part of some sale that just ended?
It is really really immature of you guys to get a refund after playing for 40+ hours. You are basicly cheating the makers by buying a product, having fun with it, and then thinking: "Nah, its probably not gonna be fun any more", and then you get a refund. You wouldnt get a refund if you bought a steam game you played for 40 hours, but this is okay, because it isnt released yet or something.
I've been playing this game since mid October, and I've yet to see a hacker. Are they really as common as people say they are?

You could start by policing your servers and banning hackers, it's got nothing to do with Skill.
My brother and I just got the game, I'm excited to play but a little weary about all of the hacking problems I've heard, it sounds like the same problems DayZ had. I personally can deal with loot spawners and such, as unfair as they may be, but Aimbots completely ruin the game and I hope my experience isn't as bad as others.
That said, I see we have a Mumble, is there a specific Facepunch run server? I'd love to team up with a good group of you all.

Hey guys, I started playing and I really like the game. The only problem I'm having as of right now is that I keep getting disconnected from servers and sent to the character screen after around 5-10 minutes of playing. It shouldn't be my connection, I ran a speed test and got my normal and good results. I just don't want to keep rejoining different servers and it seem like I'm server hopping.

What if you got banned, and the devs said "you were exploiting" and then tell you "stop whining about being banned because you haven't even played the game yet, only an alpha test".
If I was playing an alpha, why was I perma banned for exploiting. I'd say that's a reason enough to get a refund, and I had played for 80+ hours prior to going off to hospital.
So yeah, if you got banned, and the game isn't even released, so you haven't actually played what you paid for, get a refund.
In my opinion. It is a fun game when you aren't getting killed within the first two minutes but at the moment it is shockingly similar to DayZ.
I just hope that they make maps big enough that I never need to ever see a player. Because player killing is annoying as hell.
But I will say The War Z is better just because the controls are way easier and the inventory is easier to work with as well.

Have you even read the last three pages? I got banned and I got a refund. They are banning people, but not just hackers. I have not ever hacked. Apparently I exploited, and for the fiftieth time of explaining it, I was 600km away when I supposedly did this, and in the 3 hours I played when I came back, I certainly didn't use that time to dupe, or glitch or whatever. I was playing with some friends over TS.
I know, it's hard to believe, because you do read a lot of posts like "my brother hacked, plox unban, it wasn't me", but I have the fuel receipts and hospital admittance and discharge papers to prove I wasn't even anywhere near my computer (I don't own a windows laptop either, nor did I have internet access at the hospital).

top secret : the free servers are actually policed pretty harshly, and hackers are IP banned. And since they paid no money, no problem! everyone wins. Except the devs.

Are we both playing the same game? What low populated server? Even if you managed to get into a server with about 15 people it fills up way over 20 people within 10 minutes.
I don't know, I'm considering a refund at this point.
Not out of "lol refundz pls" but more out of me trying to be a responsible consumer; the overall gameplay of the game isn't really my thing, the gameplay really isn't what I like and isn't what I thought it would be. The game lacks serious direction in its construction, you loot stuff then go take it back to safezones - and if you die, you have a stockpile of weapons to grab and respawn with.
While I understand it is still in Alpha, the core gameplay of the game isn't going to change, regardless of how much time they put in.
Like I said, too much PvP not enough zombie apocalypse we were told.
Adding cars will probably skew the game even more.
Though, I got my fun out of this game so they can keep what I paid already.
The same should go with the rest of you, if you played as much as I did, you shouldn't get a refund now. Most of us played more than what a normal AAA game would give us.
