Nope. Two reasons,
I doubt they'll ever get server hosting off the ground. Secondly, who is going to pay $90 a month to rent a server, and I'll wager that if they do ever implement it, it will be sold on a per slot basis, with $90 a month being entry level (20 slots), and if you want more slots, you pay more. Considering a 20 slot TF2 server can be rented for about 10-15, the price they are asking is ridiculous.
In case you are wondering where I am getting the $90 figure from, it's on their website

I know that says 60 days and 200 slots, but this is one of their doctored images, like every other screenshot, so I doubt it is reliable. 200 slots? Yeah right, it's chaos with 70. It was chaos with 40. How do I know it is doctored? Look at the player list, the "good/bad" status etc. None of that was implemented until over a month after launch, and even then, this screenshot does not exist anywhere in game. It's a fabrication.
I don't feel 20 slot TF2 server can even compare to this though, larger map, loot spawns, and the zombies. There would be a lot more going on and although the price may be high, I don't feel it appropriate to compare to a TF2 server.
I'm pretty sure you can rent 50 slot DayZ servers for around 35.
I do wish this game took off. Would have been good to have some competition for DayZ.

Well at the moment I would say it is doing better simply down to the fact you need to buy The War Z.
I heard DayZ is meant to be coming out in December but this point I don't see it happening.
Personally I think DayZ will do way, way better since it will be sold on steam and use Valve's anti cheat system.
On the fact that it simply does that has me sold. If it reworks the controls and inventory system I will take it up on a purchase.
But so far The War Z is just annoying. Developers need to get their heads out of their ass.
Community seems to hate them right now.

The Arma 2 engine doesn't use VAC. It uses battleye or punkbuster as far as I know.

DayZ standalone will use VAC.

That's nice. Maybe Arma 3 will too.
I'm surprised how many damn people actually buy fucking hacks for this game. I swear, every other person I see (or don't see from miles away) is aimbotting. I guess its because the hacks are only $15?...
Another question, why the hell haven't the DEVS done something about it. I mean, countless people have them... and it's easy just to pay $15 to ban the hack. What's taking them so long?...
I'm just sick of tired of people/my friend hacking. It makes the game ungratifying, annoying, and boring.
There are free hacks that do ESP really well. One in particular will tell you whether the other player is carrying a weapon (melee/pistol, rifle or both), so you can avoid, ambush them. It also highlights items on the ground and you can switch it on or off.

I'm not comparing playing TF2 to this, just the price in hosting a server. There isn't any more information being swapped around here than in TF2 (coordinates are not big and most of them are interpolated on online games anyway, with collision detection being done client side), so why the ridiculous prices?

I just don't really feel the load on these server comparable to that of TF2. I've hosted GMod server before and have a far off idea about TF2. I don't necessarily think the price would be justified, I honestly don't know, but I think it'd be better to compare to another game like ArmA 2. A 64 slot ArmA 2 server is about $80 a month so I guess we really just gotta find out the prices per slot for these.
so anyone else notice these boxes?

Three reasons people will say.
1. The devs are lazy.
2. Still in development.
3. Devs are money hungry.
In my opinion I do think it is to make money just because they have a two strike warning. First I believe is a two day ban from The War Z second is a permanent ban.
Even saying that just spells it out that they don't take pride in their game or work just to allow people to exploit and ruin the game for everyone.

ya i know, but why would they have Origin product placement
i don't know why origin would endorse them

If I remember correctly there was some kind of a competition on the WarZ's facebook page and the prize was a gaming pc from Origin.
ya i know, but why would they have Origin product placement

They probably gave them player statistics like
X amount of people in the world play online zombie games like ours
X people play it(zombie games that are online/mmoish) every day
If they seen your name in our game you'd probably get more business but we'll need some moolah.

I guess because so many people refunded, they're looking for some revenue to (HOPEFULLY) improve the game.

I think they're making it harder on them selves by avoiding the basic solution.
As I said more than half the community hate the devs for slacking off on the community's issues. But saying that I can't blame the community. Since devs don't seem to care.
Should of refunded my War Z when I had the chance. Game isn't going any where interesting.
the main issue i see is pretty much the devs
they DONT listen to the community, when someone starts bitching about the game for legit reasons they delete the tread, ban the poster forever and then act like it " never " happened
when someone tries to make proper suggestions the devs just come and say NO IT WOULDNT FIND THE GAME, OUR VISSION IS SO DIFFERENT !
right now from my point of view they look like a bunch of ten years old who cant stand at other people opinions
not to mention they try to shove micro transactions everywhere ( clans etc )

This is the problem. I don't think they did any stakeholder research on what people would actually want. Also, we know they did almost no closed alpha/beta (probably only in house) testing, but they aren't actually responding to their testers. Like the latest patch, Kewk is all "double barrel shotguns are in" as though he expects the forum to bow down and worship them. "Random fixes here and there". Really? like what? What were the bugs that you fixed? Anti-cheat? No news.
Anyone seen any of those shows like Hotel Inspector, Kitchen Nightmares, etc? The owners all say the same thing, "My business is failing, I'm losing money" and then they argue with the experts over "their vision" and refuse to make any changes, completely misunderstanding their client base.
In this case, the clients are mostly 18-34 year olds (I am guessing.. probably a lot of teens too, but most people I have met and joined in skype/ts have been adults), and don't really appreciate being screwed around with wish lists and long posts from "ideas guy" sergey.
So who has liked The War Z on facebook? The amount of hate they are getting from the "Vote to help us win "rising Star" nomination !" Status is funny.
Devs must know by now that they are on bad terms with the community.

What I don't get is how can they really be so naive about it? I really don't get game companies thinking in this day and age. I guess I don't understand how hard it is to listen to the community and fix/add what more than 3/4 of the community recommends. I guess that's why I am not producer of a game...
The issue is that the developpers don't feel like a real company but a bunch of unprofessional guys trying to make a game with no clear direction or actual planning.
The issue is that the developpers don't feel like a real company but a bunch of unprofessional guys trying to make a game with no clear direction or actual planning.
Yea but if me, you and 1/8 of FP got together we would be smart enough to make good decisions not piss away a community like they are doing. It's not rocket science to make smart decisions when it comes to video games, I just don't get why companies feel it is. I mean I understand you can't cater to every single person, but when more than 3/4 of your players want/don't want something its safe to say you're doing something wrong if you don't at least listen or acknowledge...
Well, developping a game is quite a difficult task, especially if you're not a professional studio with experience. But some of their decisions make no sense at all.
12/12/12 Patch Notes.
Engine optimizations to improve frame rates

Fixed a bug that did not show all backpack slots some times
Lowered server caps to 50 players
Lots of map updates
Fixed crash when running game on single core CPU
Animation fixes
Server stability fixes
Decreased hunger rate
Changed the server reboot message to display in red
Since they decreased server count to 50 did they increase the amount of servers back up?
I wish they'd be a little more specific on "changes".
I wish they'd be a little more specific on "changes".
I know right? "lots of map changes" that's great and all but what were they?
I know right? "lots of map changes" that's great and all but what were they?
They said a while ago that they were making a few more buildings accessible, specially in Boulder, maybe it's that?
They said a while ago that they were making a few more buildings accessible, specially in Boulder, maybe it's that?
Even so, how hard is it to type a quick paragraph about what the changes were? I mean if it was like "added more polygons to the tree models" sure I don't care but when it's more accessible buildings or something pretty cool, I along with others I am sure would love to read about it than to just stumble upon it and wonder if that was there before.
