I was trying to make funny joke as the guy above me said "People are gonna come in saying they copied dayz", and i said "They copied dayz" in the next post. I'm sorry for making the joke seem to serious :(
Its okay, its a ripoff of minecraft anyway.
Now why would he need to buy a license for the ARMA2 engine if he's going to work on it with Bohemia?
Read the newest interview with Rocket.
What he said is that his ideal goal would be to buy the license of the arma 2 engine and make the engine compatible to Dayz and not dayz compatible to the engine like it is currently since it's only a mod. He searches for a team to help him with that since it's alot of work to rewrite and redo the engine to fit dayz especially, his fav team would be bohemia themselves! That's what he said, and more stuff regarding that will come out at the end of this year.
But to be honest, The War Z already looks better than dayz in everyway... I really hope rocket still gets the $$$ he deserves for Dayz, but he will atleast need another year to do something like this that you can buy.
Looks pretty sick
All I really want to see now is gun handling and animations / sounds. I hope it feels or looks right. I am so damn hoping for an aiming deadzone (the option where your gun only moves for a bit before the screen does, like you could set up in arma 2)

You can set up an aiming deadzone? :o thats something I'd love to play with...

You'd figure as a member of the ArmA dev team it wouldn't be all that difficult to get a license lol

Maybe I used the wrong wording but in Arma 2 it's an really small but impressive feature you can change by the slide in arma 2.
Can someone explain why I got rated dumb? It's an normal neutral post but whatever.

It is since he wants to do it standalone or whatever hes talking about. Check the interview man, im just quoting him. He said he needs way more than 1 Million $ to make it happen, whatever hes talking about.
Oh come on you can't say that doesn't look A LITTLE questionable as to where they got the idea.
No, it's a pretty common idea.
Long before DayZ, some friends and I had actually been working on a similar ArmA 2 mod, almost identical in concept really. Long before that even we had actually pulled off similar things on a custom CS2D server we used to run.
And on top of that I'm quite sure I've heard many other people talk of quite similar ideas before.
Game development is much more accessible these days - the work of "idea guys" comes to fruition often.

probably people who don't know what an aim deadzone is
This is what I mean by aiming deadzone guys:

The guy in the video obviously set it to high but the comparision at the end with the low fov shows how much immersion such a small feature can give.
I think the male in the images might actually be where they just deliberately customized the character so it looked like the one out of DayZ, to get attention and cause controversy.. I like the game idea, and Ill be keeping my eyes on this.
Anyone saying this has copied DayZ is dumb, DayZ has been out for a few months, they obviously didn't push out a full game, ready to be released this year in a few months, actually think before you say things
I like the way they're doing the in game transactions, and how you can actually get coins via hunting down those special zombies.
It's a rational and belivable concept, and makes a gameplay mechanic out of it.
Anyways, copying games isnt bad if it improves the original.
Its bad when you copy a game, improve nothing and changing its name.
Really looking forward to this. I really like that upcoming interest in zombies again.
My friend linked me this and I first thought it was some korean ripoff but now seeing as it has some good ideas I'll sign up.
Hmm, in Hardcore mode you start out with a "basic gun" but I kind of wish they'd keep it the same as normal so you start without one
To the Day Z players, wasn't the starting gun just removed recently? Which do you prefer?

Should add their Twitter and Facebook to the OP too

Shit like this is why Twitter is good.
Just the fact that it's published by the same guys who decided it was a good idea to publish War Inc. is enough of a turnoff, not to mention that Eclipse is perhaps an even worse engine than Arma 2's imo.
The ArmA2 engine isn't crap though, it is just given a lot of tasks.
It doesn't require a powerful rig because it's badly optimized. It requires a powerful rig because it has to handle 225 square kilometers of destructible terrain with photorealistic graphics and a very high draw distance. Not to mention all the AI tasks.

What is really great is that devs are finally starting to understand what people want in zombie games.
Actual survival instead of just shooting away at hundreds of zombies in confined areas.
You guys got it all wrong. The game has fighting so clearly it is a space invaders clone.

ARMA 2 May be good but its NOT photo realistic
ARMA 2 May be good but its NOT photo realistic
It's realistic enough to be confused as real combat footage at one point.
Only thing I dislike about this is not the game or the developer's standpoint but the community standpoint.
Sure DayZ is a good start but it isn't the end all solution to zombie survival genre.
All people want is a clone of DayZ when this game could be so much better.
As for the game itself, I reserve judgement until I see how good the combat is (please not be the generic MMO bullcrap with tone down control scheme) and how open the environment will be.
Hopefully it'll not feature warping zombies and it'll have a nice smooth netcode.
I have a feeling its going to be shit.
It has a "gold coin economy" and its going to be quest based.

Nothing in the IGN interview implies that it's entirely quest-based. The ultimate goal is to survive. You can do these activities if you want and get some easy loot reward, or go out and find good items yourself.
Also, for anyone worrying about how this game plays, this particular screen seems to imply that it's an fps.

Thats nothing like what it should be.
There is no immersion in getting a quest to kill 100 zombies and coming back to get paid in "gold coins."

Yes there is, in an appocalypse there would be hundreds of people who'll need stuff but are too scared to go out and get it themselves. People asking other people favors in return for a certain payment is not realistic?
IGN: Why include both first and third person perspectives for players to choose from?
Sergey Titov: In our experience with previous games we’ve funded (Online Warmongers published “War Inc Battle Zone”) we found that players like this, i.e.: there’s group of players that specifically want to play using third-person camera. So we decided, "why not to give them the option?" Plus first-person mode works better for combat situations, and third-person mode is better for exploring the world.
That's were they made a pretty poor decision imo. First person only would be much more immersive. Wouldn't be able to see besides your character, couldn't peaking around corners, etc etc
That's were they made a pretty poor decision imo. First person only would be much more immersive, and you couldn't be able to see besides you as well as doing retarded shit like peaking around corners
Yeah I hope on hardcore servers they make it first person only

I thought the same with Dayz, I was strictly against servers having 3rd person enabled. But after I tried it a few times it was actually really good and it does not decrease your immersion.
