But DayZ invented its own wave of popularity, right? I'm pretty sure it's the first product in this generation, whether video game. tv show, or movie, that included zombies as its primary selling point

The selling point isn't zombies. Zombies have been around forever and it's almost always been mundane zombie action.
The selling point is [I]survival[/I], with the driving factor in giving you a challenge being the zombies.

DayZ and The War Z have the same exact purpose in mind. This is not an accident.
I don't care much which one is better right now. Both of them will push the other to be a better game, and in the end their competition will drive us to have a better game.

As I see it, there's a "The" in front of WarZ so it doesn't sound like blatant copying of DayZ, World War Z, or ZDay. That's the only thing I'm claiming it's copying at all. It may very well be intentional anyway, everyone will remember it like the game that sounds like DayZ
