ProJared rated WarZ as the #1 worst game of 2012.

Just a shame that he didn't mention their poor anti cheat system.
Just a shame that he didn't mention their poor anti cheat system.
You mean the trap item spawns which caused legit players to get banned and the soon to be added fairfight system which doesn't check the client or servers systems and instead functions off patterns that the devs input into it meaning anything that isn't noclip, teleporting, item duplication, inf sprint and to a degree aimbots which use shitty math will be detected but esp, wallhack, triggerbots and stat editing wont be meaning it's a pile of shit.
Yeah buy warz, it's not like everyone and their dog is using esp.
It's really obvious how many people are when you start using one yourself for shits and giggles.
Players looking through walls then trying to purposely avoid each other, yet they both know exactly where they are is hilarious. Normally ends with one logging or both killing each other.
I've played this game since Steam release, and have invested about 25+ hours into it by now. It's a really exciting, and heart-pumping game. I haven't genuinely felt this scared, and such an adrenaline rush in a game in a long time.
If I may toss out my own two cents whether to get it or not, I really have to say at the current moment: Wait and see.
It can be very fun to play, but at the moment to me it feels like every goddamn asshole in this game uses ESP cheats. The more you learn about them, the more obvious it becomes when someone is actually using them though. To a newer player it may be confusing due to the fact there's a third-person camera angle in the game. But my last 3 deaths now have been to ESP'ers, no doubt.
This game has some sick potential though, but I haven't heard any news regarding it actually improving, and so far I'm not really holding my breath anymore. Wait and see what actually gets improved down the road, then consider buying it again.
IMO what needs to be done at the current state:
1. Cheats. This needs to be dealt with. Period.
2. Remove third person. It's a shame they probably spent so much time into modelling and developing first-person view models, and animations, and nobody actually spends any time looking at them because of the insane handicap you put on yourself for actually using this perspective. Third-person is just way too damn effective, and doesn't fit into the game at all.
3. Server hopping. I don't know what to do about this, locking a players character to a single server for 30(+?) minutes is the best solution I can come up with honestly. I wouldn't have such a problem with server hopping, or safezone camping if it weren't for the zombies. The added zombies make it to a survival game, yeah? Or at least that's sort of the point? Most of these issues I wouldn't have a problem with at all if they just removed the zombies and just made an entirely "Anarchy, pvp free-for-all" game. At the current state, the zombies only serve as minor obstructions, and don't really have a purpose at all.
Wow.
Watching my retard friend play WarZ, and he revived outside of boulder with nothing on him.
I told him to sprint like an idiot to the christmas tree to get a candy cane.
Well, he got a hammer and had 15 zombies on him when he saw another player. The other player, actually HELPED my friend, had a sawnoff and shot two zombies when my friend went and beat the guy to death with a hammer like a complete cock.
I'm sad for that guy.
He actually had a heart and tried to help a fellow man just to be killed by the guy he was trying to save.
Oh and my friend died to zombies anyways.

It is safe to say your friend is a bit of a dick. Wouldn't have it in me.
Reason why I don't like this game. I thought DayZ had dicks but the were more moral players.
TDL seems to have the right tone for zombie survival. I won't play unless the devs balance it a little more to at least give players with a heart more of a chance.
The reason DayZ and ScamZ failed a bit is due them being PvP Deathmatch arenas with random zombie NPCs here and there (more buggy ones in DayZ due to their instant 40 km/h acceleration and warping abilities through walls).
There isn't any ...a single point of teaming up in neither DayZ or WarZ, both of them can be soloable... and actually recommend you to do it.
I had more luck and higher performance in DayZ doing everything solo than I had with a friend who could cover me, where we both were playing together 3 years in many competitive FPS, RTS and MMOs. Actually, the total lack of "surviving" aspect in both games killed them totally for me.
Food was WAY TOO EASY to find, AMMO was too common.... I wouldn't mind finding HUNDREDS OF TONS OF WEAPONRY but only like 5 bullets per HUGE amount of loot piles...but hey, that's what you get for world being set in United States of Armories.
Ability to gain much more in much less time by killing other players was another hit in crotch, no need to team up, they will just eat your food, lure zombies on you and give away position to other players who may be (are) hostile towards you.
And this is said by a person who was playing as a bandit in both games (WarZ for only like...4 hours, it was a waste of my time).
I want a game where actually trying to survive will be hard, really heavily struggling to find any food or drinkable water with variety of contaminated one where you have to boil it before or just can't drink it unless you really don't have a much of a choice but you will suffer greatly afterwards.
I want a game where your choices will dramatically affect your chance of survival but not due to being detected by a guy who sits on airport 24/7 and changes servers every 10 minutes.
I wouldn't even mind it having awful graphics, I grew up on 8 bit games.
Well I will have to wait for zomboid and state of decay then.. and few other productions, whose names I forgot.
If you're seeking self-punishment without the exploitation of other human beings then you probably shouldn't be playing multiplayer survival games.

If they want anyone to use 1st person, they should make it overall not horrible.
There's no draw animations, things just blip into existence and your arms instantly shape to hold the item.
You have gloves in 1st person while in 3rd person you clearly don't.
All the animations are rigid and movement is portrayed as slightly jiggling your entire arm as though it were a piece of bent pipe with no joints.
Plus the iron sights blow dick.
I shoot in third person so I can know where the fuck my bullets are going to actually go.

Besides the draw animations, CSS had these same exact problems of course that really isn't anything to brag about as it should be one of the first things their animators should fix.
So any idea when being infected and being poisoned are going to be implemented in-game? Because it seems that being infected in this game and needing a vaccine could almost be an equivalent to relying on others for blood transfusion in DayZ.

I think it's already in. They just need to make it happen more often ingame.
[editline]2nd January 2013[/editline]
Then again Sergey was the one who said it was already implemented along with the alleged super zombie so who knows.
Angry Joe has the WarZ on place 8 I think.

I'll admit. I was tempted to buy this just because I'm sick and tired of trying to get DayZ to work on my computer.
Then I woke up.
Still can't get DayZ to work though.

yeah despite the fact that dayz's popularity derives entirely around its brutality and that you need other people to administer stuff like blood transfusions
i don't recall dayz "failing" either

wow dude you played games for 3 years you're so pro mlg would you like a medal

if you were capable of reading you might notice that the signs aren't in english and that the game takes place on a fictional eastern european island (chenaurus)
i can understand if you dislike either or both games but i'm getting the impression you haven't played dayz and you're just trying to be edgy

You know.
Real world zombie appoc goes down, it's going to be a lot like DayZ and WarZ.
People will be the largest threat to other survivors.
woo, managed to amass 65 guns in my GI playing all damn day
put most of my ammo into zombies though, killed atleast 500

The Walking Dead(Comic) seems to show a good idea of how people would handle interactions with others.

Totally agree with this and this is true, there's much needed improvement to be had there. But first-person view should be just the standard, I feel third-person view quite literally just ruins the game completely, and even more since there's a crosshair now.
And to anyone who would complain that they can't see the back-head of their character with their new oh-so-awesome hat, why not just add a little preview of your character from the front in the inventory menu?
Seems the War Z Facebook page is very popular in Thailand, specifically Bangkok, even though there is yet no dedicated server in South-East-Asia.

i know a guy from thailand who's completely obsessed with the game
it's probably all him
looks like they're getting DDOS'd again
Just went into clearview last night with a fuck around character (had an m4 semi and nothing else) when I heard gun shots and got slight lag (meaning who ever they were shooting at died).
Jump up on a ledge to see two custom characters looting the dead body of a new player, I waste both of them because they were bandits and proceed to get what gear they have on them just to be shot in the back by a new guy with a .22 rifle.
Did no damage what so ever to me, but he tried to rush me and I had to kill him. So that added two bandits and one civi to my kill count in 30 seconds.
Then went down the road a tad and saw a player stuck on a van with zombies around him and asked if he was friendly (dumb idea, I know). He said yes, but then got behind the van and started shooting at me. I poped him twice with the m4 and then watched (I guess his friend?) someone else start making a mad dash for his gear and ended up having to kill that guy too.
They were both bandits, so within 5 minutes I killed 5 players, 4 of which were bandits.
Clearview is ALWAYS a blast.
The reason DayZ and ScamZ failed
DayZ has been one of the biggest success stories in gaming since Minecraft.
So yeah, totally failed.

Apparently we're getting Katanas, unique to us as well. I'm only going to end up loosing it to a hacker -__-
DayZ is as bad as WarZ, the difference is that you don't have to pay for DayZ.
I'm not talking about the stand-alone, though. I have no idea how that one will be.

No, the difference is that the playerbase in DayZ isn't fucked and most if not everyone is friendly or will at least not shoot at first sight. It's not the value of the games. And the movement in WarZ is not as smooth as the movement is in Arma. You just press W and move at that speed while in Arma you press W and you quickly speed up.
Why did I start talking about movement. I don't know, but movement is a big factor is a game. Also you can't turn your head around like in Arma.

hes not cool

Most games do use a fixed movement system just like War Z, difference is that in War Z you move fucking slow even when sprinting, it feels more like an afternoon jog in a park on a sunny Tuesday afternoon as opposed to being chased by a zombie that just ate your friend's intestines.
any idea when they're gonna stop fucking the dog and fix the zombie range?
