B. Keeping the items would make it pay2win. Imagine buying a grenade launcher off of the market and having it for every life your character lives. Using irl money makes you careful about your investments since while you can just buy a full supply of bandages, weapons, etc., you can also lose your items at any time, enforcing the survival atmosphere.
The only time buying a whole lot of supplies would be justified would be when trying to bring them back to a fortified area of some kind, during which you should be careful anyways. Otherwise you're cutting yourself off from enjoyment of finding these items yourself.

I sat there, fasting for days on end to our great lord Sergey Titov, only to have it all thrown in my face, I must atone for my sins and praise the great lord and savior Dean "Rocket" Hall and play his inevitable masterpiece called Day Z, where zombies phase through walls and motion sickness happens within the first few steps.
the worst part of war z was when they decided to make all guns buyable for like £10 so everyone had shitty snipers and i kept dying and losing my £200 water bottles and tf2 promo hat.
I bought the grenade launcher for some coinZ (that's the ingame currency yes) and blew up the city camping the spawns, game is 4tehwin.

2) Most of the items that are sold in Marketplace are sold for in game currency, that can't be bought using real world money. Ie - before you'll be able to purchase most of the items in Marketplace, you'll have to FIND "dollars" in a game world. so when you start game, you just can't buy anything from Marketplace.
3) Items that are available for Gold Coins ( only currency that you can both obtain by playing game or by buying using real world money ) are mostly cosmetic items like Hats, character appearance customizations, things like chem lights, flares, etc - ie something that can enhance your visual game experience, but will not give you advantage in a game world. There're very few items that sold for GC that are equivalent to items that can be found in a game world, but they are not adding any disbalance to the game ( yes, yes we've checked ).
