Third person is dumb in PvP. People can just hide behind walls and see everything without peeking their head out.
This is F2P, right?
This is F2P, right?
No.
What most people don't notice with this, is that the environment is 200x200 kilometers. kilometers As big, if not bigger, then Chernarus.

There most likely will be options on private servers or dedicated official servers which have 3rd person off.. it's not like it's forced, I think I did read that there is an option setting. [editline]21st July 2012[/editline]
and that's excluding the free DLC ones added in later
Having new challenges and gaining new guns and equipment would refresh things up alot. You can take the same landscape but put different events in it or zombies and boom you have something refreshing you can play.
plus they said 200-400 KM maps, which most likely means there will be more than 1 map
Didn't they mention stuff like urban maps and what not? Personally, I'd hope they mix things up. Maybe make one map that's a sprawling metropolitan city with maze like attributes, then maybe something more based on an open countryside, then blend the two together in a map with a large central city somewhere on the map, and a few outlining towns and suburbs. That'd be neat.
I really really like the idea of Hardcore only servers with rare stuff you can only get there. Gives people an reward for playing on the hardcore mode.
I want a map that has a big farm on it. Then I can simulate The Walking Dead. Forever.
I wonder what sort of Player dynamics will form from having the ability to buy slightly better provisions. Like, if they also have certain coin exclusive cosmetics, it'd basically make them giant walking treasure chests. that have guns and will probably trade their supplies for better guns and sperg out when you kill them.
I know that with the skill trees, i'm going to make one character solely a medic and offer help to anyone i see, i know i'll get shot a lot, but who knows, i might make a few good pals who would return the favor in the future.
This is F2P, right?
You buy the game with money but then there are no subscriptions and some optional micro transactions.
You buy the game with money but then there are no subscriptions and some optional micro transactions.
I'd be way more interested in MMOs if that's how it worked for most games. 29.99 for unlimited hours seems like a really reasonable price.
I'd be way more interested in MMOs if that's how it worked for most games. 29.99 for unlimited hours seems like a really reasonable price.
But i think the issue with most MMO's is that the people who host them need money to pay for the servers and still gain profit, i think at least. so a monthly subscription solves that issue.
I would love to use a bow as a healing type character. There's nothing better than being self-sufficient in terms of health and ammunition.

Smart money on crossbows because you can re-use gun animations for them

kilometers As big, if not bigger, then Chernarus.
Chenarus is 225km^2, just for reference. [editline]21st July 2012[/editline] Also this argument about third-person and first-person is pointless as it's already been stated that you will be able to use both. Those complaining that people will be able to "exploit" it by seeing around walls and such, you have the exact same ability at your disposal so use it or don't -- it's your choice. Either way, it's still going to be in the game and a vast majority of people prefer third-person.
Chenarus is 225km^2, just for reference.
You forgot the "infinite" terrain that isn't shown on the map.
225km^2 isn't 225x225 kilometers. It's 225 square kilometers.
Registered, spikin' it in anticipation for a beta invite.
I'm excited for this game and I signed up for the beta although something in the back of my head tells me it'll be dead island all over again
I'm excited for this game and I signed up for the beta although something in the back of my head tells me it'll be dead island all over again
If it does happen to turn out like Dead Island, at least you'll get a month or so of play in, the only thing keeping you from quitting is the glitch that allows you to duplicate items. Once that is fixed, people will find how boring it is and it will die in a few short months.
I'm excited for this game and I signed up for the beta although something in the back of my head tells me it'll be dead island all over again
Wait, what was wrong with Dead Island? I found it to be a decent game.
It was decent to say the least, but it wasn't anything near what we were promised story-line wise.

Jesus, 5.000+ zombies killed?
Jesus, 5.000+ zombies killed?
In 31 days. So that means, 185-ish zombies killed per day. Bugger, this makes the game sound less about survival and more about RAAAR I AM THE GREAT DESTROYER OF UNDEAD.
could be faked stats but there is no way this isn't connected to dayz, either one stole from the other or someone worked in both or something. Seriously, bandit and civilian kill tallies?
because it's totally impossible that people can have the same idea besides, in the IGN interview one of the guys even says they've been working on it for over a year and yes they played DayZ and liked it and even took some suggestions from the DayZ forums it doesn't fucking matter anyway
