Well, they already have a local sounds.
You can't even hear gunshots from 10 meters away.
Even though it could break immersion, the zombies would chase the noisy kid, and then eat him, you won't hear from them in a day or two. And you get a chance to move past zombies.
I think that was noted as a fix, but I could be wrong. Zeldar seems to be the main one caught up in the news.
I agree with having Voip in local only though. Helps add to immersion in a way, hearing people having conversation as they walk by, but it can be breaking with some guy trolling people or some kid screaming
No VOIP on launch? I see they are as competent as DICE is. VOIP should be a priority, are they retarded?
Voip should be a feature, yes. But not a priority. They should iron out what they have first before adding other features.
It's not like people can't make annoying noises in real life. I hear it all the time at work.
I do see the necessity in having VOIP so you aren't butchered while typing, however the hearing radius for typing should be pretty significant and you probably shouldn't be standing in front of the bandit while shouting put your gun down.
It's probably a commodity more than it is a necessity, and should be implemented after most of the bugs are fixed after release, or relatively close to that time.
I think there is something with voice commands being put in.
At 1:32. Under game play options.

Maybe they should make some sort of complicated system where if you yell into a mic, the game picks it up and makes your character yell. If you say something like bandits, or zombies, the character says it.
That way next time someone asks you if you are friendly and you sneeze into the mic, your guy screams "Imma shoot ya dead!"
All I'm interested in is:
A. There being little to no hackers and
B. Not letting players instantly disconnect during PvP

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong but I think I heard somewhere saying that characters would remain in a server for a certain time after disconnecting and still return to the original place they were after the server change.

It really should be for a game that's mean to be a massive multiplayer fast paced survival game.
What are you going to do? stop and type, and then get murdered and lose all your progress? it removed a HUGE amount of immersion too, even if people do sometimes just make dumb noises on microphone

If a person comes up and makes noises shoot them in the head and say they were going to attract zombies. Problem solved.
Those videos tipped me over the edge for buying this. The menus look functioning, and the building looks really good. Gonna have a great time playing this
Guys its alpha, they are aware that its "stiff" and they are definitely working on it. They're taking the WarInc engine and making it better
Has anyone else payed for the Beta / Alpha access?
Has anyone else payed for the Beta / Alpha access?
Except for the devs, no.
This right here looks so cool, this is what I wanted in Day Z, a "Walking Dead" Sorta scenario with the slower zombies and being trapped in places like that, the Day Z zombies just sorta glitch through everything and are pretty stupid.

To combat Mic spam, just make zombies drawn to players talking to eachother.
It might be a bit complicated, but perhaps there could be multiple VOIP channels for distances (or something that can tell how loud/quietly you are talking), which would in turn change how far players, and in turn zombies, could hear you. Constantly mic spamming? Have fun attracting zombies!

Could be coded for every time you press the bound mic key your sound level goes up to a certain level no matter how loud your talking to attract zombies, while you can still be silent to avoid player attention
I honestly only want Voip so I can spam and shout whenever I see somebody to determine if theyre friendly.

In dayZ VOIP would attract zombies so I expect it here. Not saying they are "copying" just that i sort of expect quite a few features to transfer over.

I usually use my weapon to determine that.
If they die before firing at me, I assume they were friendly, but if they manage to fire few shots in my general direction, they are hostile and they die anyway.
Mics are for "pussies".

Oh comeone, Carebears.
It's survival of the fittest.
Your beans belongs to me, deal with it.

You're not going to make a lot of friends.

VOIP never attracted zombies, I don't know why people keet saying this.

no srsly ur so cool I wish it was like you
I don't trust a mod made by the programmer and producer of Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, Sergey Titov lmao
VOIP attracting zombies would pretty much counteract any chance of mic spamming for no reason, in my opinion (unless you are in the safezone places or whatever).

I agree entirely, i really want to play this, regardless of all the flak people are giving it. Anyway, i found the big version of the SS you posted just incase people wanted to see it.

the sad part about that screenshot is that you could just jump off that bus, take a minor hit and run behind an obstacle.
It's a little too tacticool for my liking.
Even Dayz was.

One thing i always missed about dayz was the fact that you can't attach shit to your gun.
