That's what I stuck with. I didn't want to wait until Halloween to play this...
Why do people think "Tacticool" mean tactical? Just because a gun has a rangefinder and a scope doesnt mean its tacticool. Tacticool is when you slap loads of unnecesary tactical stuff on your gun

I think they are more referring towards the fact that obtaining a military grade rifle is ridiculous. If you look at current gun laws, the machine guns that ARE allowed come from a year that look nothing like that.
Not to say the future laws won't change, but as it stands I assume they wanted small handguns, bolt-action rifles, lever-action rifles, etc. Not assault weapons.

It's not really that far fetched... we're talking about a zombie apocalypse situation here. More than likely that means the military was overwhelmed in numerous places, so there's bound to be some hardware left lying around.

Military keep their stuff on them at ALL times, even if it runs dry. It defines who they are to their allies. Now maybe from military corpses I can understand, but look at it from a Walking Dead perspective. Nobody is armed with any type of assault rifle, and the last time the character tried to get one he[sp]got trapped in a tank and was nearly killed.[/sp]
Point is, not everyone, or almost no one should be armed with military-grade arsenal. Especially if we are playing mainly in the border areas of the city and its outlying areas. The military would probably be more focused towards the middle regardless.
What if a military base or outpost gets overrun, there might never be time to move the armouries before it happens. Once the base personnel are gone, the zombies aren't going to move the arsenals, so they'd be there for anyone to get to.

in the walking dead the survivors walk past hundreds of assault rifles, humvees and m2 machine guns for no good reason.
they really better make this a proper survival, like the walking dead series, youre supposed to be afraid of the zombies.
Got it. :P Here I come...
He also worked on LoL and Gears of War. I'd say he's gained some experience from Big Rigs.
Big Rigs wasn't even completed, his publisher forced him to release it early afaik
My only concern with this game is that the menu system etc literally looks like a copy paste of War Inc Battlezone with a red skin, and it looks like the generally gameplay will feel the same. I'm really hoping they have improved a lot of it and not just moved all the assets, animations etc over because it was a pretty awful game when I tried it.
Anyone in the beta? How far are guns audible? from the videos I've seen it looks like you can't hear shots past 100 meters, is that so?

The beta isn't starting until the 15th, right?
Just bought the cheapest version. Hope this is better than DayZ.

I'm guessing they've invested into anti-hacking stuff a fair bit Muffy (I fucking hope), because you can't have hackers, running around in a game with perma-death, with the ability to kill everyone in a 250 player server where people can have potentially purchased in-game items with real money on their character.

Hm... maybe those items you purchased are permanent? Like you can equip them on one character, and once that one dies, it gets transfered back to the global inventory.
Guys, I registered for the beta by putting my e-mail into that field a long time ago. Isn't the closed beta free for those who registered? Do I have to buy one of the packages?
Hm... maybe those items you purchased are permanent? Like you can equip them on one character, and once that one dies, it gets transfered back to the global inventory.
No items are said to be permanent, yet. You die it drops at your body.
And they are mostly cosmetic items and a few basic items. But you can find all that's in the store in the game itself. So you don't need to spend money after you buy the game.
As for the anti-hack system, they said they had something, but who knows how well it works
Also, no free open beta. You need to get one of the packages or a guest key to play the beta.

You can only buy consumables from the in game store apparently; they specified that guns etc can't be bought with real money.
after following this thread and related media for a few months, I have to say
Does anyone else feel like the developers are too cocky in thinking their War Inc. and other clunky gunplay, gameplay, and animation mechanics will be a good fit for a massive multiplayer zombie survival?
It does look clunky, but The War Z seems a lot slower paced than War Inc. thus the apparent clunky nature of the won't be such a big problem as in War Inc. which seems rather fast paced.

You would've gotten a key had you been accepted. You'll have to buy a package more than likely now.
