Do you really think they're gonna make the shop pay2win with the absolute best items available when the majority of the enjoyment found in these types of games is going out and finding these items yourself? If you want a reason to be skeptical, just know that Sergey Titov, the man interviewed on IGN, was the co-owner of the group that made Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, and programmed it as well. Granted right now he's only part of the company publishing this game, but imo this still merits some concern.
That was such a long time that I'm sure he's learned not to pull another Big Rigs. Besides, the problem with Big Rigs was just that it wasn't even close to being a finished game, the coding might have been fine if they had finished, we can't really know that.
When 28 Months Later is released i'll bet there'll be people going on about how it ripped off DayZ, seeing as it's rumoured to be set in Russia
Chernarus is not in Russia.
But the majority of people do think it's set there

OH god, I am so looking forward to this! I feel like all the hate people are giving it because it is a zombie game, announced during the peak of DayZ, is really concerning, as I imagine people will stay away from buying it, since they either liked DayZ so much, and this isnt exactly like DayZ, or because they liked DayZ, and this is "Just a copy"...
Gosh if this game used steamworks too lol. It sounds like an amazing game and I deffiniately will be picking it up when it comes out. It would be great if some safezones as the game progresses get overrun. Like the safe zone npc's have a certain amount of ammo they start with and receive a day with "npc search parties" and if zombies break into the safe zone it just all goes south. [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] " Message Boards (allows you to post messages about looking for partners, groups or just announce a mission and reward for that mission completion, that can be picked up by other players) " nice! someone who has lots of gold can make people go find them stuff for them.

This game just seems too good to be true, I really hope they live up to their promises
Oh god I'm really excited for this game, I really hope it doesn't end up shite.
I like the idea of killing some one and looting their corpse of the items that they paid for at shops.
twitter
Hell yes!
I'm a big DayZ fan because of the experience it is, you're not given any objective and that's what I like the most. I don't know about this War Z. I LOVE zombie stuff so I'll probably check it out, but quests in an open world zombie game seems weird to me. What if it has a typical MMO grinding gameplay, and everybody does the same quests all over? I get the feeling you write your own story in DayZ, and as soon as a game writes in big letters what you should do or what you have to do to pursue your adventure, it seems like this side of the experience is all gone. I don't know, I hope it will be good, but it already seems like the game is ruining the experience it's trying to create. Also, those not entirely safe zones sound bad too, at least to me. It will make you feel safe, and you won't shoot people because you'll be scared of NPCs. It's not like you have a mutual, logical, thought over, human, interest in not killing people, it's just that the game gives you the option, either you go ahead and the game punishes you, or you don't and the game doesn't do anything. I don't have a good feeling about the whole gameplay, It doesn't sound like it's going to be scary or atmospheric. And even if those safe zones exist, why tell the player they are safe like it's a gameplay element? For it to be immersive, it's better for the player to learn thing on his own. I have to admit though, the customization sounds top notch, Arma II models are pretty fucking awful to be honest, and I always dreamt of a more "wasteland" look for characters, rather than military ghillie tacticool guys. I hope the weapons will all be really powerful on players too, it's also part of the survival experience. I kind of hope it's going to have better movements than in DayZ. The problem with DayZ and the arma engine is that it was designed to essentially play as a soldier within serious and restricted military operations. The lack of freedom of movement in DayZ is sometimes annoying. I mean if it's the fucking zombie apocalypse, might as well be able to jump out of cars, shoot out of them, climb things, hop over quickly, jump risky heights, etc...
Here's my note: "It's been three days. I have no food or water, writing takes too much time, and there's a zombie right next t"
if i ever get this game i'll leave a note with the "and dan was boobs" story on it
if i ever get this game i'll leave a note with the "and dan was boobs" story on it
postal ass in ASCII
if i ever get this game i'll leave a note with the "and dan was boobs" story on it
No, just "And dan was boobies" Just that. Leave people wondering.
The moment they allow you to host private servers they're giving you the ability to mod the fuck out of it, now modding could be made easier or harder depending on the developer but my point is, even if becomes pay to win, you have control over your own server, unless they decide to be bastards and make some kind of checking with the main server to see if the private servers are following their rules, but even that can be worked around.

Its only for activities and having a goal because DayZ's endgame is kinda boring at some point. Sometimes when im fully geared with loads of goodies i secretly hope i die because i can start over again.

DayZ would be way better with random dynamic events. It's just that I don't like the idea of a game based on atmosphere, fear and survival giving you insight on what you should do. I'm glad you can just free roam though. Hope it'll be a good game.
I'm going to leave behind a bunch of Chicago Ted notes.
All I plan to do now is trap other players and take their shit to sell off for a living. Don't judge me.
I hope there are a lot of enterable buildings so I can chill out and survive instead of constantly running.
What if there were remnants of a third faction? Maybe military with orders to "wipe out" the infection, shooting both infected and survivors on sight. It could add an incentive to make people team up more. Obviously their presence would have to be very limited (maybe a rare random event for convoys of them to sweep through towns?) since we don't want to break off from the zombie theme.

With an NPC military faction that'd actively fight the zombies. A later part of the mission involves raiding one of their bases and escaping in a helicopter.
Dynamic Zombie Sandbox, iirc
Yeah, the two dudes used that as a base for their mod after having a go at it. These guys, actually: http://www.youtube.com/user/neddle69 [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] Sorry, their mod sounds a bit presumptuous. I believe they played DZS and enjoyed it so much they used it as a base for their own sort of scenario.
