this gameplay is just amazing
Gahahaha what the fuck.
Not sure if I'm unique or something, but I played through the whole game and couldn't think of anything to say about it besides that it was a terrible experience. It isn't even fun in a Diablo 2 kind of way, where despite poor game mechanics the game is still mildly entertaining... this game never stops being bad, ever. I've never seen a game with guns that are so innaccurate (even with the highest level skill), and with such an annoying ability to kill you in seconds. Apparently, you're some badass cyborg, but you never feel like it. You are always stuck feeling slow and weak as anything in the game can kill you instantly. 'Do whatever you want"? Not quite. More like "PLAY SUPER STEALTH GUY AND AVOID ALL ENEMIES". See, this gameplay style was great in Thief (a much better game btw) but is total balls in this game.

Yeah. I used to think this game was terrible. I couldn't get past thefirat level. And then I gave it a second chance and I got to the city and realized it is so god damn boring. I really don't get why you people like bad games.
You barely even started the game. I understand that you don't like it, but I think a lot of people like it because of why you don't like it. The talking/exploration parts, and the parts you do actually have to explore for yourself, the combat gameplay that while is slightly messy, doesn't play itself, the interesting sometimes weird story and the strange atmosphere of the game, the quirky/ridonculous parts you rarely see because of the weird standard we're at in todays games, and not everything is attempting to look or feel awesomely unreal (the architecture etc is very modest but unique and it works), genuine story elements you can see, miss or affect, etc.
I generally like all those aspects, I'm compitent to adapt to them. But how unlinear it can be is just horrible. And the dialogue it's self is just pretty horrendous. But it's funny cause of it. It's also just pretty boring in general.
Well I kind of agree, but that feeling I think kind of adds to the game. Makes it feel like things aren't bending around you, but you're going to them, if that makes sense. Mainly I think it's when you've finished the game, you're just like fuck yeah. Excellent ending and subtle build up throughout the whole game. Especially towards the end the story really matters.
This thread sucks but Deus Ex is still my favorite game of all time.
I can't wait for the sequel!
Deus Ex 3 is going to be a crock of shit. Cover system, regenerating health, and dumbed down generic shootan.
wow you dont even understand how brazilians talk
Sadly that's how it really is :frown:
I'm really intrigued about this game, now... What with this banter about the first level being so unmerciful and all.
I still got my retail copy :smug:

You're right in saying that the first level puts people off. I couldn't really understand what the guy wanted me to do, so I fought/sneaked my way up to the top of a tower, only to findo ut it wasn't where I was supposed to go. :(
You forgot to mention that the swimming skill is completely useless.
give me a chopper and friendly fire and i'll handle it

I couldn't really understand what the guy wanted me to do, so I fought/sneaked my way up to the top of a tower, only to findo ut it wasn't where I was supposed to go. :(
You have no idea. I killed/incapped every enemy and it took me at least an hour and a half to find out where the commander was. The levels were a bit better after that, except for the airport mission that I'm on. God damn frustrating, when you know the fucking game does not tell you when you are getting shot, or from where. The sounds are also god-awful. There was a sentry bot shooting at me from 100 feet away and I couldn't hear jack shit. Additionally, they didn't even do the muzzle flash correctly. It looks like it is furing in bursts, NOPE it's actually firing on full auto, but you wouldn't know that because there are very few to no tracers, and you can't hear it.
I also never played past the first level when it was free on gametap, wish I had now :frown:
I had very few issues playing the first level, I managed to use the sedated bow to get my way through and then to the top of the tower. After questioning the leader up there I kind of shot him, in the face. Then a marine appeared with a machinegun so I killed him as well for the machingun. Lets just say my boss wasn't so happy :P
ah shit i just installed it again haha
This is the fucking best game ever. I got a new FUCKING AWESOME computer. First thing I installed? Crysis, but then I installed Deus Ex, because it is fucking awesome.

It was kind of funny, I decided to try it again, so I was going through the tutorial and had gotten to the weapons training. I picked up the pistol, and because this is how I am, I immediately tried to find out what the ironsights button is. Of course, I don't just look through the controls, I start randomly pressing every button on my keyboard and mouse trying to find out what button it is. It didn't go very well. I ended up throwing the gun through the window into the target range area by accident and not being able to get it out, so I had to start the training all over again.

Training mission and Liberty statue mission was really boring. Training at least was useful.
No ironsights breh.
