They say they're focusing on scale this time. Huge scale!
Never knew DICE were so close to me.
I drive by their offices quite often. They have one hell of a view.
Don't they have a café or something in that building?
Even more jizz: Instead of animating head movement they're animating the perception of the brain, creating an amazing illusion of realism.
How is that? Although I know it sounds amazing!
Referring to the image posted a page or two back. I might not know what this all means, but it sounds unbelievable .
Quote taken from enterbf3.com, anonymous source.
"We introduce a new technique for subpixel reconstruction antialiasing (SRAA). The core idea is to extend the success of MLAA-style postprocessing with enough input to accurately reconstruct subpixel geometric edges. SRAA operates as a postprocess that combines a G-buffer sampling strategy with an image reconstruction strategy. The key part is to sample the shading at close to screen resolution while sampling geometry at subpixel precision, and then estimate a superresolution image using a reconstruction filter. That superresolution image is then filtered into an antialiased screen-resolution image. In practice, the reconstruction and downsampling occur simultaneously in a single reconstruction pass. Our results demonstrate that SRAA can approximate the quality of supersampling using man using many fewer shading operations, yielding a net 4-16_ speedup at minor quality degradation compared to shading at each subpixel sample."

I don't know if there is one in their building (though it's pretty big,so probably), but I think there is one in the tower nearby (like 15 metres to the right). Though I've rarely set foot around that place, just driven by mostly.
What game are they playing on the GDC thing? is it assassins creed brotherhood?
What game are they playing on the GDC thing? is it assassins creed brotherhood?
Yeah, I think the new DLC.
I will still pre-order it, so i get the map packs for free. After that i will upgrade my rig.
Wait its not the Brotherhood DLC, it looks like AC2.

Head bobbing has always annoying me in games because your eyes and brain correct yourself when you look, so I can only assume that the screen won't tilt particularly when a gun is fired like in real life for example, but rather become slightly blurry for a split second. Something like that.
[editline]1st March 2011[/editline]
GDC stream just started!
Some Assassins Creed thing.
About that leaked screen, looking over 3 buildings to the right the bulding features get flat. That's probably the map limit. Also going up in huge towers isn't really good for gameplay, as cool as it would be, No one wants to climb stairs for half an hour, only to get sniped as soon as they reach the top.
I'm very sure that there are variants of ACOG scopes, and its possible that one of them has a backup ironsight.
Im pretty sure all the Trijicon sights have backups.

Firstly, that's possibly just model swapping at a distance so that the engine doesn't have to draw as much power.
As for the stair climbing they've done it in many previous games like the lighthouses in Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 1943.
Keep in mind they said they're focusing on scale, the maps of Battlefield 2 were ginormous and that you're supposed to be able to fly a jet in the maps.

Yes but those lighthouses weren't 20+ stories.

Nevertheless, in Battlefield 2 there were many places it took ages to climb up, like that one crane on Karkarand for example.
But having it there doesn't mean players must go up in it, the awesome thing with Battlefield are the options you have. You choose exactly what to do and that's why I love it. Some options suck more then others, but that's part of the gameplay.

Honestly, I don't think that the image depicts a map; it is just a scene they are rendering to demonstrate the new engine.
How about elevators.
There were elevators in BF2:SF iirc
Honestly, I don't think that the image depicts a map; it is just a scene they are rendering to demonstrate the new engine.
Why do you think that?
Why do you think that?
Just a feeling, it is an odd camera angle. I'm not saying the maps won't look just as good, I just think the walkways will be set up differently.
Woah, I might be late on this, but have others already noticed the soldiers in that pic? Look around the smoke at the bottom right.

Omfg, can't wait.
Too much hype for me to handle...
Me3, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Tera.. Brain melt down.

I'm thinking it's a spectator picture to demonstrate the draw distance.
But yeah, there are soldiers there, awesome. Probs in-game then.
They're using animation systems from sports games to make it truly dynamic and cool.

I see the texture by the van at the bottom is swapped with a low-rez version.

Why do people keep forgetting
Helicopters make me shed a manly tear.
Jets make me shed a manly weep.
Sucks the video doesn't have noise, it's that jet sound that sells it.
The SHPCHWOOOAPPPGHGJFK!
the stream is live apparently.

That made me think, imagine if we once in the future got a "minecraft world" in a Battlefield like game.. Endless world and no limit on how far you could fly with your Jet. Would be awesome.
Nice video btw.
