In the Bad part of Town trailer, it just annoys me how the player holds the rifle. With the left hand.
I'm going to jump on the anti-hype machine as well. I am now really skeptical of the MP component being really good. Why would they hide it from us? The Battlefield series has always been about the MP, it is their strong suit, and the only reason anybody ever buys their games. Given that fact, why would they show us singleplayer footage first? If they wanted to hype up the game, they should show us something good. Something new that shows people how great the MP is in their game. THATS ALL ANYBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT. So why give us footage of a direct CoD rip-off singleplayer campaign? Its like they took all the wrong lessons from CoD's success.
If the multiplayer was really something special, even a retarded marketing director would know to start showing multiplayer features to people first. This screams of mismanagement of the franchise, with the people in charge having no idea what their consumer base wants. They're just trying to go after the CoD fanbase, and they will fail at taking any of it away from Activision.
Fuck Activision and fuck Bobby Kotick
But, that isn't to say that the game doesn't look good.

First of all
Wrong lessons from COD? In that brief SP playthrough, it looks 10 times better than anything the more recent COD's have pulled out.
I dont see how you can compare them. An amazing animation system, amazing audio and sound effects which DICE have been known for (along with their MP), a majorly upgraded (and unique) engine for graphics and gameplay, and what seems a much more realistic and authentic approach to shooters, possibly the closest to reality ive seen. Just because the guy carries a gun and a game has scripted sequences, doesnt mean every body and there mum has to compare it to COD.
And for fuck sake this is DICE and this is BATTLEFIELD. Not once have they released a bad BF game, even the Bad Company games were good online. But this is DICE's baby, not only do they know what they are doing, they have listened and asked the community whats wanted and whats needed, hell they even held off BF3 for years because they wanted to wait until the perfect tech is ready and in place to build it.
Second
You really dont understand hype or promotion.
The retarded thing to do would be to reveal the multiplayer NOW (as much as we would like it). Everyone knows thats what we want and how we are all looking forward too it, thats why piece by piece they are slowly building up to it. To maintain hype and interest. If they fully revealed the MP today or days ago, the game would likely lose some interest and momentum now that everyone has seen the MP. Everyone is eagerly anticipating it, so everyone will be checking to see the latest on the game until it is indeed revealed.

Heroes and P4F
Dice hasn't released a game yet that I haven't liked that I've had to pay for. :v:
Didn't really like P4F and Heroes, but then again - they were free.
I'm guessing that the campaign assets are pre-alpha, along with UI design and everything, with multiplayer farther along.
Based on pervious tweets over the months, it sounds like the multiplayer component is more polished at this point, but there's most likely a lot more to do.

Oh hooray.
Dice hasn't made a game I don't like as of yet then.

Yeah but it doesn't have backup sights as the other guy thought that all Trijicon ones have.

I hope we get to see some officers in the SP. You aren't ever seeing them in games :smith:

Someone who doesn't understand delayed gratification and how hype works.
Its pretty much to build up suspense to what multiplayer will be like. Of course DICE knows the star of the show is the multiplayer, but think about it, why would they show it to us now?
First of all, like Method said, it builds hype. People are saying "wow, this looks amazing, I can't wait to see what else is in store." Showing the singleplayer also shows us the capabilities of the engine, as well as the massive destruction and setpiece moments that can be rendered. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed singleplayer -> coop -> multiplayer. To build up as much hype and sell as many preorders as they over the longest period of time as they can.
Secondly, as multiplayer will be the most important aspect of BF3, why would they show it in this relatively early stage of the year? As we've seen from the gameplay as well as some interviews, there are still bugs and things to work out such as floating guns on the ground, no iron sights, etc. DICE knows what the pc masses truly want to see, and they probably want to hold out long enough to fix as many things as possible in multiplayer before showing it. I mean, who wants the first presentation of BF3's multiplayer to be full of noticeable bugs and glitches. I'm sure that if they showed multiplayer footage now and it was buggy, you'd be complaining about how this game will suck. Actually, I bet when the multiplayer footage comes out you'll complain about it too.
Its like some people on this forum have a feeling of entitlement or something that everything should be exactly as how they want it to, otherwise they flame and bash whatever it is they're looking at. Its ridiculous.
I want an awesome Battlefield game like BF2 or BF1942 as much as anyone, but I don't whine about every single goddamn thing that I don't completely agree with.

It's all about saving the best for last.
You wouldn't want to eat the dessert before the dinner right?
What can you do guys, people will always bitch and moan.

Also the sheer amount of stupidity in the comment section of Youtube is amazing. Consolefags vs PCfags flamewar, people think it looks so realistic it's boring and some people think it looks like CoD, what the hell.
Also I ABSOLUTELY love the sound of the weapons, does anybody else?
And the look of the HUD is starting to grow on me, it looks really streamlined and not clunky at all like most HUDS.
I love the sound of everything, and the acting isn't Hollywood overdone like it normally is. I like how people sometimes stutter like as if they don't have lines to read but are actually talking.

Yeah, I love everything too but oh my, especially love the weapons.
I love the sound of impacts as well. The way you can actually hear concrete breaking loose and the bullet passing though the meat of the body.

Luckily. If people didn't complain, the developers would become lazy and careless. Look at CoD, everyone in the community laps up everything that comes out of Kotick's anus and now they have a sequel a year and 15€ mappacks.
I also like how you flew back near the exploding car instead of staying next to it and saying "Ow".
I loved the very end.
"I need a sitrep!"
"I'm up"
"I'm up"
"I'm up"
"I'm fucked up but I'm up"

Constructive criticism is good. Criticizing things like animations and bugs is good because it helps with making the game the best experience possible.
But the complaining I see on facepunch is usually just bitching. Complaining about how singleplayer sucks doesn't make anyone less lazy or careful. It just shows that you criticize anything that's out of the norm (for BF anyways). Half the complaints I see on facepunch for a game is "it sucks". You can't say that that type of complaint helps a developer make a good game.
Complaining about how it sucks because it has singleplayer doesn't help anyone at all. Most of the bitching I see on facepunch is non-constructive

Its 2011, BF2 came out in something like 04/05? some people just cant accept that in order to innovate, improve and make something new, things need to change for the better. Sure, some people would love a remake of BF2 on next gen tech with some new maps, but thats lazy and nothing new.

That that could have been scripted, I sure as hell hope it wasn't. Explosions need to take players off their feet. It is kind of their purpose in real life (other than causing a large amount of damage). Explosions are good for disorienting and disabling enemies. Games never get it right though, screen blur and buzzing a explosions does not make.

Would be awesome if it would take control from the player and play out the knockback animation or something. Something like: detect that the player is in knockback radius, switch to euphoria or equivalent physics module, throw away/down the player, give control back to the player, player is still in prone.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't scripted. If it was scripted then there would be no way of avoiding it. The player clearly had control of the action when the explosion hit him.
Also, that would be pretty badass in multi-player. If you're in the the explosion radius of a grenade or rocket or something, it jumps into a a procedural reaction animation.
Say there's a grenade that has a 10 ft. explosion radius, if you're within 5 ft. of the centre of it, you take a ton of damage and get knocked on your ass. If you're towards the edge of it the explosion, you go into a stumble animation where you're partially stunned but still standing.
I'd find that fun, but I feel as if that could be abused or get frustrating like stuns in mmos. Maybe if you still have some control as you get knocked off your feet, so if someone fires a grenade launcher at you and then quickly tries to shoot you, you'll have at least a chance of fighting back.

What about you stay lied down when you get knocked down until you press W and you can shoot on the ground after getting knocked down?

Players in the 5ft radius get the full "oh shit I got knocked down" thing and end up prone. Players in the 10ft radius get the stumble like you mentioned, and end up in crouch as the soldier steadies himself. Both nice to look at, and fun to look at. No idea how it would play.
