How the fuck? Even the original is 70$ here.
Here in the UK, new PC games are ALWAYS £30 online. I guess they recognise its a smaller (not saying its small) market compared to the consoles. For example, on the PC its £30, on consoles its £40.
GAME.co.uk : £30
PLAY.com: £30
Amazon.co.uk: £30

I know, 70$ is cheap for being here. Fucking swedish prices.

Except it's not smaller. Most probably it's due to one: PC gamers are used to the lower price and it impacts sales more than on consoles, and two: it's an open platform, noo need to pay stuff to Sony/MS/Nintendo.

I was playing Oasis a bit ago and flying the UAV and took it to the enemy base... a guy got in their Humvee and started driving and I let a missile fly, hit it right in the back, I sent it high into the air end over end and it smashed through the second story window/wall of a building a couple of my guys were in wounding them as well
I thought that was fucking cool but then I thought, how would that shit look in BF3? That's classic Battlefield Multiplayer right there, and it looks great as it is, but with more destruction coming will it look as great, or will they go the more realistic approach and, while still looking great, not have these types of funny moments? (Come on, Driving your jeep into an AA gun and having it launch, and shit like that makes Battlefield)
Alright so, gearing up to wanting to play BF3 I decided I would go back to BF2.
I had a account from a long time ago with pretty much all the weapons on it. So I went in, spawned, luckily it was the first round of the first map.
It was either rush to the jets, helicopters, or sit tight in a blackhawk. I didn't get the jet or helicopter, so I went into the blackhawk. We flew pretty high then we dropped off at our designated target.
I took out my PKM and hit the ground, crouching down to avoid Claymores, like in BC2. I go around a corner, PFFFFF boom, dead. I raged a little, spawning back into the helicopter I retried, he was at a different location now. I again, took out my PKM as the support class. I saw a target a little distance away and started to fire in single bursts, do du du, a couple hits! I was astonished! Then he started hopping around like a maniac throwing down his medkits. Next thing I knew he was facing me, spraying from the hip. I was dead in a few seconds.
Okay.. Okay.. Maybe I'm just having bad luck. So I spawn on the carrier, I look around and see dozens of people waiting for a possibility at the jet or helicopter. Meanwhile we have a couple of flags that could help us win if they spawn and take advantage of it. As well as the Commander, I do not know what he was doing, last I checked he was dwiddling with his finger up his ass.
So I figure, what the hell, might as well take my chances with the jet. It spawns, I get it, miraculously. What's that he's putting on my jet? OH FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU- and I died from a teamkiller who was obviously not impressed that I got his jet. Fair enough I stated to myself, I respawned and took my chances with the helicopter.
Somehow I got lucky on that, I was the pilot! I started to sway and yaw around, gaining speed and dodging under bridges. Target locked onto me!? Oh gosh! Deploy flares! Phew, flares deployed, target isn't locked on me. FFFFFFFEEWWWPSHHHH OH GOD I GOT HIT?!?! FFFFFFFFUUUUUUCKKKK BARREL ROLL AND PITCH BACK TO GROUND, EVASIVE MANEUV- I'm already dead.
That is when I decided that Battlefield 3 should be nothing like BF2. If it is, I will probably buy it, and whip my balls with a bamboo stick one time.
I've had very similar experiences with BF2. That's why I spent like 90% of the time playing BF2, playing either with bots or my friends or both.
Not being frustrating as hell is one of the biggest advantages of BC2 over BF2.

People in that game actually kill you for taking "their" vehicle?
You know what, I hope BF3 will be consilzed bullshit. If only for the fact that those people won't come over to this game and ruin it with this kind of behaviour. Maybe we will be able to have fun instead.

But it's also why BC has 30 hours of my playtime and BF2 has 300 hours.
It's once you get over the aggravation barrier it gets fun as hell.

I'll admit, sometimes in BC2 when I see some lone wookie jump in apache and fly away alone, I hit their tail with at-4 causing them to nose dive.

Well they fucking deserve it. What's the harm in waiting 6 entire extra seconds, if that, to triple your effectiveness, your points, your team's ability to wage war? Going as the lone pilot is less than half as effective as having a competent gunner. Some can argue that having No apache in the air is even worse, but waiting a minute for it to respawn instead of 3 minutes while he flies it for 2 before crashing is worth it to the team.
Now I'm all for players playing the game the way they want to and it pisses me off to see people trying to tell other people how to play the game they bought, But things like Transport helicopters and wheeled vehicles, and apaches, are important team assets. What is the point of taking a Blackhawk into the air just for you to parachute on your favorite sniping spot, leaving 5 guys in the spawn to waste 30 seconds running... Even worse, the guy who has 5 guys in his helicopter with him, and jumps out on his spot anyway.... I call those things Involuntary Griefing
Now if the battle's been raging and there's no one else in the spawn or near you, I'm all for Johnny Jihad tossing some C4 on his jeep and going in alone, but at the start of a game, is it worth it to take off alone, when you can have 4 other guys with you, just to get 150 points at the start, and then immediately die and lose that flag instead of being capable of defending it?
I'm actually REALLY pissed about not being able to drag teammates in multiplayer. I know I probably won't miss it but it removes the possibility of some really great moments. I hope you'll still be able to prop your gun up on any cover in MP.
Hopefully there will be mods for that.

Go back to any old game and you'll see the same thing. The people that still play BF2 are people who have been playing it constantly for the last 3-4 years. They've often optimized their playing style to be the most efficient (ala spamming medkits and bunnyhopping)
I tried to play BF2 a few months ago, and it was nothing but Helicopters completely dominating everybody. You'll see a helicopter like 3 miles away on any location on the map, and 5 seconds later you'll be vaporized by it's missile. I spent the entire game as a sniper, simply harrasing the helicopter pilots with my Barrett, and driving after them in FAVs shooting the MG at them. In itself, simply helicopter hunting is quite fun so I still had a good time :v:
But yeah, BF2 has basically been abandoned by dice, so only obsessive Koreans and twitch gamers still play it and they just dominate everybody.

Meh.
One of the charms of Bf2 is that most players are almost as good or better than you. It's an even experience. In story driven singleplayer all you do is go around shooting hundreds and hundreds of enemies, the premise is sort of stupid and it's not really that fun IMO, it just doesn't fit the genre. And who knows, they might go the CoD direction and do some really immature "super bad guy" propagation of the enemy. "I am evil bad guy, I shoost civilians and destroy all good people, please stop me America." Yawn.
As long as it doesn't get in the way of the multiplayer I guess I won't care, but I was thoroughly unimpressed by BC1 and BC2, so I really hope they pull their socks up this time and make something that can compete with BF2 gameplay-wise.

Maybe it's me, but I like kicking bot ass. I dislike not doing well online.
Besides, in BF2, if you raise the bots difficult from .4 (the default) to .9 or 1, they're not bad.
I'm glad that Dice has realized the grenade spam problem since BC2. It was a huge problem in BF2142.

If it was a huge problem on BF2142 it was doomsday on BF2 Strike at Karkand.
Even after you died you would experience at least 3 grenades exploding around you.
One thing I hated was when people put claymores on the spawns. That really pissed me off. Thank goodness for squads, though.
Or when people spawnkilled with an APC.

[img_thumb]http://www.sloarmynavy.com/images/Other_-_MultiCam.jpg[/img_thumb]
ARPAT is a prototype and never made it past that stage. The US Army is currently using Army Combat Uniform (ACU) (Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) is the correct term but ACU is used more commonly - UCP refers to the pattern, ACU the uniform itself)

MARPAT comes in 3 variations, woodland like you have pictured, desert, and snow... needless to say most of the Marines shown in the screens so far are wearing desert MARPAT
multicam is in use, most notably by the british and also by a couple US army units currently in Afghanistan
anyways how this relates to the game is that the screen with multicam I think is US army - doesn't make sense for marines (even force recon) to ditch MARPAT... there are logistics issues, recognition and of course the pride issue ;)
What the hell is the difference between all those uniforms?
Certain divisions of the armed forces are allowed the purchase their own gear for use, and multicam works wonders so I wouldn't be surprised if that particular Marine just bought it himself/is an officer of some sort.
ACU looks dumb imo..
ACU looks dumb imo..
It feels way to bright to blend in anywhere. I'd rather have multi cam.
Certain divisions of the armed forces are allowed the purchase their own gear for use, and multicam works wonders so I wouldn't be surprised if that particular Marine just bought it himself/is an officer of some sort.
not entire uniforms - uniforms are used to cohesively present a unit and also the service so when you look at someone wearing MARPAT you know he's a marine or ACU army, etc. As far as I know only special forces are allowed some leeway, still on an unit level, such as pioneering/field testing or using some special camo as the mission dictates and they have to jump through a ton of loops to even do that
What the hell is the difference between all those uniforms?
camouflage and identity... naturally you'll want to blend in as much as possible and different camoflagues work better in different situations, but as camouflage becomes more irrelevant, distinct camouflages/uniforms are also picked for identification of service... even back when marines and army both shared BDUs there were weird rules about folding shirt sleeves so they would look different
