It's when people get weapons and stuff without effort the game gets boring as fuck.
The funnest part of the game is the middle part IMO, the part where you have your eyes set on something as a goal and you fight to get it. In CoD it's like: "oh I want this weapon" and then 4 minutes later "oh I got it and every other weapon"
Same story with Bad Company 2. Despite its good design, I had everything within 20 hours of starting, and I had no reason to continue playing.

Frostbite 2 is fucking awesome. It doesn't seem like it takes too long for the engine to recompute the lighting for the entire map (assuming that was real time), and that particle lighting was damn sexy. I couldn't fault much with that demonstration. If this is still alpha builds, my god the final could be something special.

For those who still think it's going to be more like BC then BF2.
Still have 2 more weapons I haven't unlocked in BF2, but as of now, I'll never be able to unlock them :frown:
The feeling of working towards something and achieve it after hard work is more satisfying than anything else.
I liked all of the medals and ribbons and such in BF2, but I hated how long it took to level up, especially after the first few ranks.
Rank 2 - 150 points, Rank 3 - 500, 800, 2500, 5000, 8k, 20k, 50k, 60k, 75k, 90k, 115k, 125k, 150k, 180k, 200k.
You only received one unlock point per level for the first 7 rank-ups you received. So to unlock all of the weapons in BF2, you needed 50k points. Anyone that played BF2 knows that you only get one or 2 points per action, whether it be a kill, revive, etc.
Sorry, but if you want to have tons of unlockable weapons and crap in a game, they HAVE to make the level requirements lower. I'm not saying it should only take a 10 hours (total playtime) to unlock everything, but it shouldn't take more than 2 days. Assuming a person only plays for 2-3 hours a day, it would take them 16-24 days to unlock everything. I think that sounds fine.
I feel like unlocking a weapon so yeah.
Be a medic and you'll level up in no time.
Heal and revive like there's no tomorrow.

This is the one thing that annoys me about BF2. I want to experiment with other guns. But I can't as the damn level system scales so badly.

Support works too for ammo drops.
In BF2, I'd say the fastest way to get points was to play as medic on a 24/7 Strike at Karkand Infantry only server.
Oh and unlock the the L85 (medic gun) as your first gun since using it in semi-auto mode would rape face.
I keep being sniped by the damn thing. How the fuck do people play BF2 with the obscene amount of fog most maps have for some reason? Karkand is probably the worst for this. Is there some kind of config file setting that removes it or something :v:

Meh, nearly everything that happened in the gameplay part looked very scripted.

Change the distance view settings to max, making you able to see further into the battlefield.
Change the distance view settings to max, making you able to see further into the battlefield.
Maxed out all settings. I have a GTX 460, it's the first thing I do every time I reinstall the game. The fog is still pretty intense.
Thing with BF2, atleast for me, is that I always end up going about 9 rounds where I kill 1 dude and die 20 times or something, like you know, a really horrible KDR and such? Then I get a game where I'm usually pretty good, often on Wake Island and the next round I die over and over again.
I love BF2, got it 2006 but man, it's beating the crap out of me as it did back then. I'm too used to BFBC2 and CoD now I guess but damn me if I don't try!
i thought that part was based in a city in Iraq with a name starting with K
i hope we get some China action, imagine a China map on Frostbite 2, they were beautiful in BF2 but wow i bet they'd be amazing
Kurdistan.

Ok, what if it's scripted? I don't think BF3 is for you buddy. Don't come here saying, "meh game looks generic, boring, scripted."
Meh, nearly everything that happened in the gameplay part looked very scripted.
It's singel player, what did you expect?

Pretty sure the fog is an engine limitation
Oh also.
Modding potential? If they pull off a BC2 and say "nah it's too hard to make a map so no sdk for you" I most certainly won't buy this game.
Oh also.

Yeah because the only reason to buy a game is modding it right?

Bye bye then.
Yeah because the only reason to buy a game is modding it right?
Nah, it's playing on more than the 10 maps the developers hand to you.

You don't sound very positive.
I know I wouldn't want a player like you ingame anyhow. I like the BC2 maps, I never get tired of them either.

Wasn't trying to.

I never played on any custom maps in BF2 anyways.
Might be because there are none.

'Fraid they already pulled a BC2.
They said there'd be no mod tools (at launch anyway) for BF3.

I think what they could do is make all the weapons fairly easy to unlock, but then there's just a lot of other things to unlock as well AFTER that... Heavier/Longer barrels for increased accuracy, The different types of sights, RIS Grips for better hip shooting at short range, Stuff like that... Nothing that just looks Tacticool, but stuff that works a bit like its real life counter part.. It gives incentive to keep playing, but none of those little odds and ends are wanted or needed as much as the actual weapons...
Then you can keep on going... Have White/Tan tape that you wrap around certain parts of the weapon for it to blend, 3 point sling for faster swapping to your side arm, stuff like that, hell even different uniforms... It would be cool to look like a Medic in Bad Company 2 but still remain the assault class
And that's all stuff the actual military uses... None of this Suppressor + Scope + LAM + Grip + Grenade Launcher, etc... although all those (Aside from a LAM maybe) would be nice to have... Just not all together

Either do you.
Also, unlocking guns in BF2 was easy. First unlock the M95, get lots of kills with it (it's usually a one hit shot) and profit.
