You're assuming that a game that lacks mod tools will instantly suck.
It doesn't hurt to be optimistic. Did 1942 ship with mod tools? No. Did Battlefield 2 ship with mod tools? No. A lot of people were negative about BF2, "yeah okay bf2 looks good but no mod tools", but we waited and we got mod tools. The same will probably happen with BF3.

Actually, I really doubt they will release mod tools later, but it's not like the game will be worse without it.

And you know what else? I'm glad the M4 is coming back. It's my favorite military weapon just because of the enormous amount of occasions you can equip it for. I missed it in Bad Company, though really with every weapon being able to equip the same shit, they're mostly just different in visual appearance only, so it's not like it would've mattered

You should be glad you still have something to unlock! Problem with unlocking everything too fast is that, at least for me, the time I reached rank 22 what the time when I actually started to get the hang of the mechanics and really excited.. but then I realized I had hardly anything actually [b]new[/b] to achieve, other than pins.. which kinda do nothing.
Even though I unlocked everything six months ago or so, I'm still playing it.. basically because I have no other FPSs that interest me (BF2 seems somehow a bit meh.. should try the PR mod). What I can basically do now and have done for a long time is try out crazy variations of classes (assault engineers/recons, C4 assaults and so on.. just self-made fun that last only for so long. I'm rank 34 now, and might reach 40 before BF3, who knows. What others have already said, there is hardly no point in leveling up after rank 22, which is a pity.
Only thing you're left with is your imagination and the joy given by playing with your friends in an organized, face melting way.

Actually consoles are the powerhouse of the gaming industry because they are for mainly casual gamers which just about everybody is. That or they're unaware of computer gaming, like, before I became a computer gamer, I had no idea. Then I bought Halo PC at walmart and everything changed..
I also thought weapons took a little too long to unlock... just a little bit though.
