Or you can just increase vehicle spawn times?
But that's just a nuisance to everyone. Ever get stuck in a base halfway across the map from where the battle is, with no vehicles. It's annoying as fuck, because you have to either sit around and wait for something, or run halfway across the map on foot (most likely to get shot just before you get there too).
Could also set some level or something as restriction on using jets, so no lvl1 WATUP GUYZ LOL noobs will steal jets whenever they spawn (which is like every 2 mins) Or maybe make cvar like sv_tutrequired, after which only those who passed jet/tank/whatever tutorial can use those vehicles.
Best marksman headshot i got on BF2 was with my old clan UGHQ, we was playing capture the flag mod on wake and my mate stotty had are flag was taking it to his base and all i could see was the flag going across the map because he was so far away so i aim about 45' angle above the flag and shoot bang straight in the fucking head got like 400+ mm points that was my best ever shot with a sniper rifle on a game 2 date.

That would be sad :v:
In this case, you wouldn't see any jet in the sky before a few days after release. That would be sad :v:
Well, they can always add it after a week or two. :v: Or as a server cvar, sv_levelforjet 20 sv_levelfortank 10, etc... DICE should really make some customizable permission system for everything, for admins.

(It would just be a 5-10 minute playable tutorial with a reward at the end.)
I really wish BF3 gets an Onslaught mode as DLC since they said it won't have bots. :frown:
No bots?! That's very dissapointing
No bots?! That's very dissapointing
That must be a false statement, dice specifically implemented the FIFA engine animations to SUPPORT THOSE BOTS in the FIRST place.
They even said it will have reactive AI system, whatever that means.
That must be a false statement, dice specifically implemented the FIFA engine animations to SUPPORT THOSE BOTS in the FIRST place.
They most likely used them just to have good third person animations, be it for players or for bots.
That must be a false statement, dice specifically implemented the FIFA engine animations to SUPPORT THOSE BOTS in the FIRST place.
They implemented it to make animations smooth, and somewhat dynamic.
WiF had some great looking craters (especially for a strategy game), but they were still just a 2D crater, a texture and a lowered heightmap (lowered at the center and raised at the edges for larger ones like nukes). The one in the BF3 video has three-dimensional cracked and twisted asphalt though, it's not just a texture.
Clever workaround #1 (out of probably a drillion possibilities:) Clipping a hole in the ground (it's been done in Gmod by one person in his spare time, I'm pretty sure the 300 people in Dice can make something similar) and then placing a crater model in its place. Now, I don't think exactly this technique would be a very good one, but it goes to show that something impossible is never. Fucking. Impossible!

Impossible!
Yeah the 3D model is one way, but then it's not done dynamically through physics calculations (which is where this argument originated from, if they were dynamic and generated through physics or not). Though I think just a sharper, steeper and more defined drop in the heightmap would work well enough while keeping it simple (having the 3D crater model fit with the terrain would be hard, having it fit when it's like 32% on sand and 68% on asphalt or any such variation would be one huge bother). It would be the same system as BC2, just that they wouldn't look so rounded and smooth. [editline]6th March 2011[/editline]
RustySpannerz;28454392']Also, Red Faction.
Yeah something like RF1 would be great, no excessive calculations and still looks like a proper blast crater. Also it would end up with people tunnelling from their base to the enemy base, which would be fucking awesome (imagine the pavement in a skyscraper suddenly bursting and several soldiers rushing out).
Bah, you're so stubborn even Gordon Ramsey would have to invent a new animal to describe your stubbornness.

(IN BC2 that is, never tried BF2. :( )

Gah, can't decide if it's worth the time installing 2142 again. Rate agree if I should install and disagree if I shouldn't.
I still wonder why the fuck the Y-Axis in helicopters isn't inverted by default in BC2 :saddowns:
And then there's that one squad that just annihilates everything with the Blackhawk that for some reason, is always on the other team.
Had one squad like that few nights ago. Full Blackhawk on Heavy Metal with amazing pilot and 2 designated engies constantly repairing it. Like a fucking air fortress.
I kind of disappointed you can't run and slide up against the wall like all your partners do in that campaign trailer.
Gah, can't decide if it's worth the time installing 2142 again. Rate agree if I should install and disagree if I shouldn't.
If you do add me on steam,
I still wonder why the fuck the Y-Axis in helicopters isn't inverted by default in BC2 :saddowns:
Thats not the worst part. You can just turn it on. But whats bad is when you turn it inverted, UAVs already normal y-axis gets inverted too. [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] Ok, I feel like talking with myself, but just picked up a rumor that card used for BF3 demo in GDC was single GTX 580. At least now we know what it takes to max it out.
I can fly choppers in BF2 exceptionally well but I can't fly for shit in BC2. Ironically, I could fly well in BC1.
1:45-1:50 If that's dynamic then I'll hug Dice.
that's probably just a map entity brother

There is no BF2 (or I'm blind) thread so I thought I'd ask here, when did they add the F-35 to BF2? I don't remember it.
Never been able to try out a uav, everybody's camping next to the control thing :v:
I've tried it a billion times, and so should you. It's fun. Especially on Nelson Bay.
I loved in BF2, playing medic whore, getting like 2 kills and 20 deaths, but still coming in first overall with over 50 revives
One way to solve the big "Who should be allowed to use jets/choppers/tanks" question could similar to the way it works in Project Reality. DICE could simply add a sub-category for vehicle-kits, which allow a limited amount of pilot kits that are the only ones allowed to at least fly/drive the vehicle in question. The shooters could be pretty much anyone. These kits could also have some requirements (tutorials, stats etc.). Would be nice to see people running in pilot gear, entering choppers and jets and actually doing something useful with them!
