I just realized: who the hell even uses pistols in CoD?
No one, since reloading your main is usually as fast as getting a pistol, unless you got that speedy swap perk.
And in close quarters knife is much better.
Instadeath knives are really bad. Even the "heavy" attack in cs didn't kill in one hit. One stab to a man in army equipment will most likely not take him down.
*stab door*
DIIIIEEEE

They should either have knives insta-killing only from behind, or instakill only when aimed for the head.

I have the feeling that it has been removed together with the removal of Commander position.
I can imagine that the BF3 spotting system would be the same as for BC2.
Hopefully I'm wrong :v:

It's just not battlefield without a como rose!
Also, really hoping there's a "press action to open door" with a nice animation, and perhaps an alt button to kick/break the door, none of the silly knife to open doors.
As for the knife, you should have to aim to instakill (heart, neck, etc...?), not just press V to instakill anyone within 10' of you. As for having it as a selectable weapon, I could care less; if the animation for pulling it out was slowed down to a realistic level then it wouldn't be an issue either way. Perhaps you could hold down a key to pull out the knife, then you would release the key to strike. Or just hit the enemy with your gun... One thing is for sure, it will be interesting to see how MP knife works (or anything in MP for that matter).
I hope BF3 REALLY has selected knife instead of just a hotkey and I hope you get a special knife after a bit of kills like in BF2142.
I believe Bad Company 1 has such a feature.

amen brother, a 7" ka-bar won't do jack shit plowing through the chest or abdomen of a big and scary army man
god damn just make the knife a weapon of its own and have the faggot you cut down drop his gun and fall to the ground
from that point he can whip out his own coc.. knife and if he's fast enough and engage you in this glorious knife battle you're all reminiscing about.

I'm pretty sure every Battlefield game besides BC2 had it or something like it, none of that hot key bullshit.

Considering BC2 did, I am a bit worried about it. Oh well, I hope DICE doesn't fuck up.

You guys are just going overboard with this.
Gah I need new footage! SP, MP, I don't care. Hype-machine needs food :(
I just realized: who the hell even uses pistols in CoD?
There is an instakill knife in BFBC2, which makes you invincible and automatically locks you on your oponnent from 5 meters. Yet everyone uses the pistols, and maybe a fourth of the kills are due to sidearms.
So, this doesn't necessarily means the pistols are useless. If they are accurate enough to be used at a distance, they are useful.
On the subject of knifing, does anyone know if it's going to be that quick knifing shit, or knifing where you have to put away your rifle, pull out the knife, and get physical with it like in BF2?
I loved the knifing in BF2. It was absolutely perfect.

You'll find he may have been commenting on the fact people still use pistols even though they have a one-hit kill melee weapon bound to a hotkey. In CoD, nobody uses the pistols as they are piss weak and mostly useless outside of hardcore matches (I still do use them for the hell of it, it is fun). In Bad Company 2 the pistols aren't useless lumps of steel, they can and will kill things at almost any distance assuming you hit the player.
If BF3 does not have an unlockable .44 single action revolver of reasonable power I will be disappoint.
bolt action and single action are BOSS
Even though ive never seen a revolver being used in a war, I still also want it/em!
The Rex was badass!
Heck, in black cops, i always dualwielded the revolvers!

The pistols are awesome in BC2. I've got a platinum star on all of them except the TT-33.

NO! Men do not dual wield revolvers, go sit in the corner and think about what you did :colbert:
If it's not used single action and not above or equal to .357 in caliber then manly men do-not-use it; the same manly men that have beards and smoke corncob pipes. Single action revolvers are godly because you need to time your shots and reload carefully, so the awesomeness is increased tenfold when some punk comes around the corner with his acog laser sight grenade launcher equipped XM8 and you fucking shoot him straight in the face with your single action revolver, and then pull the hammer back manually to waste his noob-ass buddies with your remaining 5 cylinders. If god existed he would have made the S&W Model 29 for mortals to smite their pissant enemies, and he'd choose- nay, he'd command all mortal beings that such a magnificent weapon be fired single action, and only single action; and only the infidels and dissolute who will spend eternity in hell will choose to fire double action or dual wielded. Instead of those commandments, he would have given Moses a Smith and Wesson at Mount Sinai to go defeat the Romans and kill all the Dinosaurs that plagued their lands.
In BF:V on the Green beret maps, I would get the Car15 class, and change away from the primary weapon to use the 44 magnum revolver the class came with to terrorize the Viet Cong team with six-shooter glory. I miss those days :saddowns:

I'd like to see a range of weapons that I don't know also. Not the same weapons that everyone know. BC2 had a bit of weapons I've never seen, which is a good thing.
Ehhhhhhh, I knew every gun in BC2 the day it came out, nothing new for me. All of them were in BC1 except for a few, they even took the BC1 spas-15 out which made me pissed >:/
Considering I got into PC gaming back in 2002 because of Battlefield 1942, I can whole heartedly agree to having the knife set as a toggleable weapon. One of those "battlefield" moments or even just neat little moments in FPS games is when you come face to face with an opponent and both of you manage to exhaust both your main arm and side arm trying to destroy each other. You both reach for the knives and begin to move side to side trying to intimidate/get the upper edge on your opponent. Only then do you both have this sorta unwritten agreement to have a knife fight to the death. Any sensible fellow soldiers of either side would stand down and just watch as it if was now a quick spectator sport.
This is what made the knife so damn fun in multiplayer games, the honor of the knife fight. People just respected each other back in the day when you would duel to the death. As far as BC2 was concerned, the whole knife lunge 5m and insta kill crap just didn't feel honorable or even fun for you or the other guy. Now, if you were to replace mouse 3 with some sorta "context sensitive" or "action" button for bashing in doors and interacting with the environment, I would be fully for that along side equippable knives.

I'd rather have weapons that sound, feel and handle right in-game than weapons I've never seen before.
Civil War Era/Wild West revolvers please:

I know it wouldn't be very practical in modern combat, but still.
Why not go ahead and ask for repeater carbines while I'm at it?
No wait, DICE! Get BF3 over with already and make BF: Wild West!
DICE should allow you to whip off your helmet and lob it at the enemy. You'd be exposed to instant headshots but the amount of XP and credibility you'd get for a kill would make it all the more sweeter.
I want weapons to match the rest of the game. :colbert:
No revolvers, no riot shields, no throwing knives, no sawed off shotguns. :colbert:

How about more modern revolvers, such as the one in BC2?
Only stuff they'd use in real current wars. I'd accept it if the insurgents had it.
