How about more modern revolvers, such as the one in BC2?
That was a baby revolver.
That was a baby revolver.
My marksman headshot bonus with it wouldn't think so.
My marksman headshot bonus with it wouldn't think so.
It was a baby revolver. Made for babies and non-men men.
It was a baby revolver. Made for babies and non-men men.
Being a baby is more fun than being a manly man's men then.
Stewie would agree. I however would not, hence the :colbert:s. :colbert:.

Can I :colbert: join :colbert: the fun? :colbert:
Actually, wouldn't it make sense if somebody of Commissioned Officer rank had a revolver? CO's are allowed to bring their own personal pistol into service, right?
Civil War Era/Wild West revolvers please: [img_thumb]http://www.greymalkin.net/images/oldwest/revolver1858.jpg[/img_thumb] I know it wouldn't be very practical in modern combat, but still. Why not go ahead and ask for repeater carbines while I'm at it? No wait, DICE! Get BF3 over with already and make BF: Wild West!
Go play fist full of frags :colbert:

But those old black powder cartridges are unmistakably useless today.
On the subject of knifing, does anyone know if it's going to be that quick knifing shit, or knifing where you have to put away your rifle, pull out the knife, and get physical with it like in BF2? I loved the knifing in BF2. It was absolutely perfect.
While I like knife object better, bf2 knife hitboxes were terrible.
I just had an idea for a melee system. So a key would be assigned for melee, and when you tap it, while holding a two handed gun, your guy woould tense up and hold the gun in a diffrent fasion (holding the stock, grabbing the magizine etc.) and if you hold a pistol he switches it to the other hand and pulls out a knife. When you press mouse, your character shoves his gun forward, and right clicking does an overhead smash that causes a bit more damage. Pistols get stabbing animations. Pressing the melee key again would make your gun go back to normal. Holding down the melee button for a bit longer makes your character holster his weapon and pull out his knife. Mouse 1 is a foward stab, and mouse 2 is a powerful, two handed thrust, that causes a bit more damage. Pulling out a knife takes longer than getting ready to weapon-bash, but causes much more damage. Good idea?
Think just having to press 1 and pulling a knife out is the best option. Makes sense, is practical and fun.

I don't know about you guys, but my trusty M1911 in BC2 saved my ass countless times. It's really fun to shoot as well.
For those of you who are as hungry for more BF3 info, no matter how tiny or non-gameplay related as I am - check out some of the Frostbite 2 tech talks from GDC. http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=164495 One is specific for PS3 SPU shading, the other is their new culling techniques. DX11 talk should be up sometime tomorrow/today depending on your timezone.
Officers get rapiers. The game should have them too.
Squad Leaders should be able to order the formation of a Testudo! "I WANT THOSE ARROWS TO SLIDE OFF US LIKE RAIN"! And DAMNIT DICE! get the fire arrows right this time!
DICE should allow you to whip off your helmet and lob it at the enemy. You'd be exposed to instant headshots but the amount of XP and credibility you'd get for a kill would make it all the more sweeter.
Suddenly, snipers. Everywhere.
I was thinking about some sort of melee system where bot players have to play some sort of 5 second minigame where they have to push quicktime buttons, simulating a struggle. The attacker gets a advantage. If you attack head on, you can still slice the neck of snipers.

When they're done the battlefield commences. 64 players, i can't imagine this being a nuisance at all. What? I can't be as ridiculous as you guys?
BF3 mmo click to attack wait click again nope.
