This makes it bullshit if I want to play the DLC maps, but have to pay because I wasn't certain about the game.

The fact is, there is always a way, especially if you're under-aged. Mow a lawn to get money (by that I mean do some simple task for someone to get money, not necessarily mowing the lawn).

It's kind of awkward walking door to door or asking random people if they have anything I can do to make money.

I'm going to need to see a little more gameplay before i pre-order this. I don't want another Bad Company, but I'm sure they're not going anywhere in that direction, as some of the producers have said.

Mods have always seemed to ensure the longevity of a Battlefield game, even though BFBC2 has done just fine. That being said, I'm still going to get the game and probably really enjoy it.

Quite frankly it would be stupid of them not to release mod tools eventually; I'm sure they have made a great deal of BF2 sales simply because of mods. I do however have a feeling they will release some paid DLC first, wait for player count to start going down, then jump start the game again with mod tools.

At least not something like map packs or things like that. Maybe some character customisation things like in BC2...

Those are classic maps and forcing people to preorder the game to get popular maps ain't right.
